  • Bengaluru and Tumakuru are evolving into twin cities, with the Green Line metro extension from Nagasandra to Madavara expected to start soon. Did you know that Madavara to Tumkur is just 52 km? This will greatly benefit both cities.
The proposed route includes elevated stations at:
    Madawara
    Makali
    Dasanapura
    Nelamangala
    Nelamangala Bus Stand
    Nelamangala NH Stand
    Boodihaala
    T Begur
    Kuluvanahalli
    Sompura Industrial Area
    Dobaspete
    Nallayanapalya
    Chikkahalli
    Hirehalli
    Panditanahalli
    Katsandra
    Batavaadi
    Tumkuru University
    Tumkuru Bus Stand
Eight companies, including major players like Rights Ltd., Systra MVA, and RV Associates, are interested in this ₹697 crore project, though actual costs might be higher due to land acquisition expenses.
How long will this metro be? For comparison, the Blue Line project to the airport spans 58 km. This new route is 53 km, making it a feasible endeavor. Real estate prices in these areas are soaring, with Nelamangala seeing an increase from ₹4750/sq ft in 2019 to ₹5900/sq ft now. Developments like 99acres.com show many new apartments in Nelamangala, indicating rapid growth.
Key routes such as NH 48, SH 94, SH 3, NH 648, and NH 948A will intersect with this metro line, enhancing connectivity. This Green Line is crucial, especially for connecting with the STRR and PRR, making access to the international airport from Tumkur easier.
Currently, traffic on NH 48 is unavoidable, making metro development essential. Construction near Nelamangala has begun, and satellite images show progress. The first phase from Madavara to Kunigal (11 km) is almost complete.
Why is this metro essential? Consider this: a bus trip from Tumkur to Silk Institute via Majestic takes over an hour due to traffic. The suburban railway route is overcrowded, with limited general compartments. A metro would drastically cut travel time and ease congestion.
What do you think? Should we prioritize RRTS, Metro, or another suburban railway route? Share your thoughts in the comments!

There is no metro in core city only, first do inner ring metro, old airport road and make a dense network within the city, then we can go so far out. Suburban railway is needed for such long distance routes, quad track the section, it will be far cheaper than so much elevated rail and faster than 85 max speed metro trains.

Suburban rail is best suited because it will help move large number of people at low cost while taking away lots of vehicles off the road. If you need to commute to Bengaluru everyday, you can simply take a 1 hr train from Tumkur to Nagasandra and then hop on the metro. Right now the cheapest ticket costs Rs 15 on MEMU trains one way. So suburb train ticket might cost around 20-30. If a person has a pass it will come down even more. Metro will cost more even though there is comfort in commuting.

From hebbal to devanahalli there is a traffic and city has spreaded over thses area, but in tumkur road after nelamangala its empty at most of the places. Metro to Tumkur would be beneficial for Kannadigas. Governament should have developed North Bengaluru instead of developing southern parts of Bengaluru. If we develop southern Bengaluru or if you comstruct a metro till Hosur, it will benefit Tamilnadu. Tamilians will commute daily ober Metro and grab many job oppurtunities. If the Governament want to help Kannadigas, they should construct Metro till Tumkur and they need to develop new townshop between Nelamangala to Dabaspet. They should also construct a new airport near Tumkur

    Couple of mistakes
    th-cam.com/video/Lu2MvKxsDFQ/w-d-xo.html
    namma metro -> 1 station every 5kms
    th-cam.com/video/Lu2MvKxsDFQ/w-d-xo.html
Here you mentioned that madava-> kunigal cross is almost done. But there's no feasibility study and dpr even done yet, forget construction. Green line metro is planned only till BIEC right now.
Metro usually has 1 station every km. Metro train takes roughly 2 mins to cover a km. Kengeri->KRPura is 30km. Takes around 54 mins for the train to travel from one place to another.
Now this means that time to commute to from tumkur to majestic would be around 2 hours by metro line (one way). The distance would be 65+ kms by metro. This is not feasible. Would people be willing to spend 5+ hours travelling everyday? They also need to commute to and from the stations. It's much more likely that they will relocate instead.
Also, what about the cost of travel. Nagasandra to majestic is 15kms and costs 42rs. Now if you do the math, tumkur to majestic will cost 182rs. I am sure it will cost more because construction costs and land prices have gone up a lot recently. Add to this parking charges and cost of last mile bus/auto/two wheeler taxi. Easily 450-500rs per day and 5 hours of travel time minimum. If someone can afford spending 500rs a day on travel, they would relocate and not spend 5 hours commuting. Its a waste of time and money. Perhaps RRTS would work if travel time for madavara -> tumkur can be brought down to around 20-25 mins (delhi meerut rrts will be able to do 82 kms in less than an hour initially. Its planned to support 180kmph).
Metro for the entire stretch is a colossal waste of money. Atleast suburban railway will ensure a very low cost of travel. Less than 20 rupees one way. Now that can convince a good number of people to travel 5 hours. Also, the comparision with blue line is not fair. From silk board to jakkur, population is very dense with a ton of office spaces. Lot of people will use and commute there from other lines even. So there's guaranteed RoI

First develop transportation facilities to north eastern part of Bangalore. Parts like K R Puram and nearby villages. This part is rapidly getting urbanised and govt is still ignoring it. Some of the areas are not still the part of BBMP. This govt is thinking of extending metro to Tumkur. The main motto of metro should be to reduce traffic, not long distance transport.
First resolve the issues of Bangalore, then think of extending the metro.

this project is not required right now , first they have to focus on metro lines inside the city , and metro to tumkur is not very effective due to very low speed , something like a high speed suburban rail (about 120kmph) or RRTS would better suite this project .
Extending yellow line to Hosur is much more effective that metro to Tumkur because hosur is almost a part of Bengaluru now , and a lot of people who work in E city live in Hosur , and the distance is also very less and the areas are densely populated and come under city zone. Green line should be max extended to Nelamangala .

Brother im not promoting any town here , im just speaking in terms of practically and efficiency , distance btw Bengaluru and Tumkuru is 70Kms while distance 30Kms from the core city , and the gap between Bengaluru and hosur has urban development , but in case of Tumkuru , after Nelmangala town , there is not much urban development/ settlements , Bengaluru has grown till Attibele in the south direction while in the west direction it has grown till Nelamangala , therefore a high frequency and high speed suburban rail or RRTS would be a much better mode of transport between Bengaluru and metro to hosur would be a really feasible.
Green line should be extended till Nelamangala while Yellow line should be extended till Hosur , purple line should be extended till Hoskote , pink line should be extended till Jigani , Blue line should get a Branch line to Devanahalli .

      1. "New Bengaluru" city project surrounding airport.
      Metro lines
      2. About 30 kms from the whitefield to the airport.
      3. from Nelmangala to Kempagowda airport will be around 40 km.
This kind of project is 100 times better than Tumkur .
All these projects are 1000 per cent perfectly feasible and need the hour to plan

metro will not be successful for tumkur because of the many hotels and factories on the highways
suburban trains are enough for Tumkur. We dont want metro

All such stupidity happens only in India. Metro isn't meant for inter-city transport that are so long far away. You need suburban rail to reach the satellite stations. Metros are already crowded and are serving a different purpose. LEAVE THEM ALONE!!
