I love listening to you describe what you are doing and talking about your vintage machines. I also love how you go slow enough for beginners to grasp your technique. Thank you so much!
Hello! I, too, love vintage sewing machines. I have 2 Kenmores from the 70's and just acquired a Brother from that era as well. They are work horses. My friends, who services them, says "you just can't kill a Kenmore". I have quilters/sewists who have the computerized machines and they can be very persnickety. I am relatively new to the quilting world so I like my Kenmore 6 and Kenmore 12. I have no plans to purchase any other machines. You video is very interesting and I like finding wonderful uses with orphan blocks. Nell
what a cute idea for our orphan blocks. I am so glad I found you. I can't wait to show one to my quilting friends. What a fun thing to give with a quilt.
What a beautiful way to save someone‘a precious work! You are very talented and I definitely want to learn from you! I really appreciate and enjoyed this video. Thank you. I wish I lived closer to you, I could use a teacher!❤
You have absolutely inspired me! Your quilt block bowls are beautiful! Just started making bowls and I am embroidering the bottoms. The quilting takes this to such a higher level. 72 and going strong!
ahhh, you should never feel bad about how many sewing machines you have! LOL I have over 30 now, it is my hobby to collect as well as use sewing machines. People collect all kinds of things we just happen to collect sewing machines!!! rock on girl!!!!
Lovely project 😍🥰❤️. When I do this, I’ll probably cut the circle 1/4 or 1/2 inch larger than the base, then trim off around it once I stitch that round. For me, it’d be too frustrating trying to keep the edge under that round of rope, as I also keep the rope to the previous round. Not a criticism or judgement…just me knowing me. Love quilting, and am just now perfecting my rope bowl skills. Thank you for your video.
who knew that this could be done i think that this is great i am just starting my rope project and i love it but i didn't ever think you could use yard or quilt blocks i am a quilter and i am going to try this thank you so much
Thank you you inspire me. Trying to find something to make and sell I love making rope bowls just haven’t started selling. I know I am able even tho I just turned 75. Thank you
Great use of orphan blocks or special fabric...I need smaller projects to replace the large quilts that I have been making. Thanks for sharing your ideas and the source of cording.
i just found your video and love what you have done. I do quilt and that is beautiful. Can't wait to see more, and I do agree with you on the older machines. They don't make them like they used to.
I do have a short video about how I make my knots. It is more of an intuitive thing for me. I just play with the rope ends and let it do its thing. Watch the video.
Very nice as a quilter I would do the “quilting stitch first, then trim then sew to extra rope. That way if anything shifts it won’t really pucker. You got a lucky find in those vintage blocks
New to the channel-so happy that this quilted rope bowl popped up on my feed! I am a quilter and have made 5 or 6 bowls this year, very satisfying craft. Thanks so much for showing how to add a quilt block and it was very well explained and shown!
SO lovely! [I had a collection, too, but nothing as significant as yours!] I found your tutorial that features the knot finish you have on the other quilt block bottom that you show at the end (@23:45-50)? I love that knot! Thank you, love!
Love your rope videos! So thrilled to see how you did the quilted bottom! Nosy question, but how much do you charge for your bowls? Thank you for posting!
@@SuZ3945 would like to see a video of your bowls 🥣. You have taken my bowl making to a whole new level! Thanks for the pricing info. I never have a clue how much to charge if someone wants to buy. Usually, I just gift them to my family and friends. 😆
I like. I would be leary about using glue stick to keep fabric on rope base....the glue would stick to the needle and " gum" up; my machine is computerized and I'd be afraid the glue would not be good for the computerized mechanism.
I do not have a problem with the small amount of glue stick I use just to tack the fabric down temporarily. If you are uncomfortable with the glue stick don't use it, it is not necessary just helpful.
A good way to save old quilts, too!!! Thank you for your wonderful ingenuity!!🎉
I love listening to you describe what you are doing and talking about your vintage machines. I also love how you go slow enough for beginners to grasp your technique. Thank you so much!
I’ve just started making Rope bowls, and found your very helpful video- thank you for sharing this. Mary ❤

I like the quilting block for the bottom of the basket.
I really enjoyed your video and listening to you! Am 68 and hope to keep doing this for a long time!
Me too Lorrie Scott, just started making bowls this year at 68! Can’t wait to try this one with a quilt block!
I hope so too!
Beautiful effect, lovely Log cabin blocks, thank you, I would love to see how you finish of the rope end knots ❤
I too. Would be in terested in how you finish with the knots, my Girl Scout knot tying may come in handy after all.😂

Wowzie! This is so cool! Thank you! And I am 79 and just came to quilting and rope bowls and love them both. This is a perfect project! >^.^

I absolutely love this look as I can't quilt but I'm thinking I could do this, thank you for sharing
I love how you do things! Your video is very well done. So much information. Thank you!❤❤❤

You can do it!
Love your bowls. I definitely am going to make some. Thank you for sharing this with us. 💚
You are awesome and I love your style of teaching so much! Adding this to my bucket list.

Great information on making a rope bowl fancy! Thank you!
Please do tutorial on different ways to finish the bowls. I loved the different knots you used

thanks for the tip, next time that is how I will do it. It does make sense when you think it through
As a quilter I agree to quilt before attaching. I think the bottom of the bowl would look neater without seeing the stitching.

Absolutely Love your videos!!
Thank you so much, it is nice to know the videos are helpful💜
Love your rope videos! So thrilled to see how you did the quilted bottom! Nosy question, but how much do you charge for your bowls? Thank you for posting!
Oh! New sub. Loved how you used the stick glue. I do the same for many of my sewing projects! Great to tack down and dries quickly!
I have a range of pricing from $15 to $150 depending on size and how much work each basket takes. The quilted bowls you see here are $25/$30.

Beautiful bowls, what do you sell the bowl you showed us for?
this bowl was $35
