I know it’s two years on and we’re now in October 2022….but I just came across this video and have really enjoyed watching it…..so great to see Bryn live with you, Karen, showing her fabulous art work. A couple of years ago I had a clear-out of all sorts of ‘stuff’….including stacks of violin sheet music books from 60 years ago when I was learning to play the violin. ! What a pity I threw them all out !! I could have saved them for another million years to use as future journal pages !! Definitely agree with Bryn saying to do the Fun Fab Drawing club first and then going onto the Mixed Media Society afterwards. I am taking my time in the drawing club but definitely look forward to progressing into the Mixed Media Society at some stage in the future. Thank you for a great video, ladies ! 💕🤗🤗💕 Bryn is the the twin image of my cousin who lives in Florida and every time I see Bryn, I am really amazed at the likeness ! They say we all have a Doppelgänger twin in the world !

Wow😲🥰them drawings in your students art journal are awsome i love the dreamy look faded look on them .. well done you thank you for shareing ..i must admit i cant work from references coz im still critiqueing myself that it dont look the same , plus i do take long breaks from drawing so getting back in to is sometimes bit of a challenge for me.. but practice is your best friend isnt it so i deffo need to pick up my pencil alot more...Awsome art work again hun thank you 🌻😁
Thanks for watching! Maybe try adding practice into your routine, like picking a day of the week where you set a time to do it, and then start adding it in more than once a week and go from there? It will make such a difference.

Can you give suggestions on what to look for in used books/bookstores to use for journals? I was going out tomorrow to see what I could find to use for mixed media paper, but using for journals would also be amazing!

Loved the video and you both are so talented. Could Bryn tell us the name of the paper she used and why she puts gesso on it. Also I missed what you put on top of the gesso. I have pretty many different types of paper but have never had to add gesso so I'm a bit confused. Also, Karen, I've signed up for both of your challenges and can hardly wait.

I use gesso to add strength to the paper and soften the background. It also helps prime the paper to accept medium better. I also put a thin layer of acrylic over the gesso before it dries. I look for books that do not have glossy paper with staples or sewn bindings (no glue).
