Hi, so I (28f) recently had a baby shower and it didn’t turn out the way that I had expected it to, which is why I am here right now. So for context, I have an older sister, Rebecca (32f), and she’s kind of been the golden child all her life. She was kind of great at everything growing up, academically, or even otherwise. She was that one kid who excelled in everything that she did, and everybody else got compared to her, including me. My parents always used her to set the standard for me and it was a lot of pressure, I’m not gonna lie because I don’t think I was cut out for the same kind of things that she had already done.

While I believe the parents made the right choice in cutting off Rebecca, they should not have told her it was because of OP's ultimatum. They should have told her that what she did was vile, and that's why they were cutting her off.

Sounds like weak parenting, they are scared of her temper tantrums and wanted to get rid of her the easy way, by throwing the other child under the bus, seems to me that they are in a way responsible for this situation as well, they have taught the elder sister our love is represented by the attention and approbation we give out and now its going to the younger sister the elder can't compute (not in anyway excusing what she did only suggesting her reason for doing so)

OP has a business degree meaning she has at the least, some brains and some smarts. Why not go NC with people who have been negative with her all her life? What does adult OP gain by involving parents + sister in her life after marrying, getting pregnant and living a dream life?
I read in another comment that parents ARE PLAYING GAMES. People don't change and OP believing that parents have changed and love both D equally is a fairy tale concocted by OP's delusions. Parents SAID SO but it is important to observe them behaving accordingly. It may be that parents only want access to their first grand child and are willing to become actors!

I think OP is in the wrong! Fine be mad at the sister but to take out ALL her support because she's mad. Telling family not to invite her to family function until she's okay with it. Giving parents ultimatums, probably using grandkid as an bargaining chip to get her way. Yeah to me she's the A-hole. She knew what will happen cause they discussed how badly she'll react when the parents admitted how they raised her. Again it's one thing to hit up the parents but to tell other family not to invite her until she's okay with it. Entitled much! Sure tell everyone what she did but let them choose to invite her or not, like she would get the choice to attend or. Op's a brat

This won’t be a popular opinion. But objectively I think it would be acceptable to cut the sister off. However to tell your parents and the rest of your family to isolate one person it’s actually dangerous.
Think about it. That sister spent all of her life as the “golden child”. She was indeed horrible to pay an ex to ruin her sisters life ( failed miserably thank God!) but what should have taken place was the parents informing sister that they love both daughters. How it was unacceptable to do something So despicable and that they would need to go low contact for a while so that she can reflect on her horrible actions. It should have been stated that she was no longer allowed around the pregnant sister and that they were deeply disturbed and disappointed with her. Also why tell sister that they were given an ultimatum? Mad shifty to be honest. They should also tell insecure sister to seek some counseling. Seriously
Just having everyone cut contact with her seems like your pushing her to extremes. Especially knowing that she’s suffering from some insecurity due to seeing how her life is playing out comparing to the pregnant sister. If the sister commits suicide who is to blame? I think OP is valid in her feelings but drastic in trying to make everyone cut the sister out of her life.
