A gripping narration passage followed by an epic title drop has to be one of the best ways to introduce a story ever. I wish more works would do this. I don’t care if it feels cheesy, it’s still an awesome way to let you know that you’re in for a wild ride once the title comes up.
_This_ is how you make a good first impression. The opening crawl with the gradually crescendoing music (side note: I know jack all about music so this is definitely the wrong word), the long take following Shepard through the Normandy interspersed with shots of the Normandy flying through space, and the Mas Relay jump that still gives me goosebumps even though I've seen it a thousand times during gameplay. The whole thing is more or less perfect and I absolutely fell in love with the game before even getting to the gameplay.
That first line of dialogue is so perfect. The later games reduced your responses to "good guy Shepard" and "Scumbag Shepard" This game actually gives you three unique options. You can agree that this is suspicious, playing a more skeptical Shepard. Or you can say that you have faith in the captain, playing a more honor-bound Shepard who still has faith in the system and the Alliance. Or you can go strict military disciplinarian and tell them to cut the chatter. Mind you, none of this has some overall effect on the story or mission but it better allows you to roleplay whatever type of Shepard you want to be. It's *chef's kiss* perfect. Wish the dialogue options in the rest of the games were that good.
I love that you're given so much choice in just the first few minutes of the game. Like many games you can pick your name, gender and looks. But you get to choose between 3 backstories and 3 reputations giving you 9 different types of Shepard's to roleplay.
well it does have issue where the games didn't automatically focused on windows so the frame rate are somewhat fucked, all you need to do just left click the mouse once, it only happenednin pc ver btw.
@@harryshuman9637 Uh, yes they did, actually. They hardened the edges and removed the shading. If you watch the original intro and this one back to back, that becomes very obvious. Just one of the many things downgraded in this poor excuse for a remaster (the lighting is another of those downgrades and can be observed in this video as well).
@@harryshuman9637 He's not talking about the scrolling text leading up to the title card, he's talking about the title card itself. You know, the game's logo. Edit: Maybe I'm making an incorrect assumption as to what he was talking about. But they definitely changed the logo in that section.
Man, I’m glad I played this with mods. It makes no sense for Shepard to be in full combat gear in the Normandy. Having said that, the lens flares on almost every single light source is so goddamn annoying. This remaster has its problems.
I mean, it kinda does: the original plan was to have Shepard go with Nihlus and grab the Beacon with no other objectives in-between. Shepard likely was walking up to the cockpit immediately after getting suited up, hence why Anderson tells Shepard to come for a debrief literally one minute later. The only reason Kaidan and Jenkins end up getting suited up is because the colony is under attack.

This is still one of the best intro sequences I've seen in 30 years of gaming.
To me it is the best. It's right up there with Star Wars scrolling opening. Just pulls you in immediately.
As a new player it was kinda boring to me idk. Maybe its just me.
