I met Mr. Brown and he spend 15 to 20 minutes talking to me, he was a superstar and i was 18 years old kid working in a hotel as a lobby porter. Great humble down to earth man.
What an experience of a lifetime.Good to shake hands with such a man but to chat with him for 20 minutes, that's a miracle!!!

I was just talking to my husband this morning about how remarkable it is that people in nursing homes who have even forgotten their own names will instantly remember the words to a much-loved song. It would be great if loved ones in nursing homes, or any senior who is becoming senile would listen to music that they love, and help them feel energized and happy again.

I know you are on to something here. With the generation of Babyboomers that produced Soul , and rock and roll , I have no doubt for most of them Music would improve their quality of life. The generations before boomers , like my grandfather , his Big Band music like Glen Miller and Cab Calloway, Tommy Dorsey, Duke Ellington ,made his life better especially because for some reason he never forget them. Music speaks to our whole being personally and collectively.

I had the pleasure of seeing James twice. Once at a concert that was less than half full and then again when he had his big hit with 'Living in America' and you couldn't get close to the stage. He gave hisall at BOTH shows. James was a great artist and a strong willed man. RIP James. You are missed.

He was telling a helper at the time that he was afraid he would fall unconscious at the show. In his last year they had him in a wheelchair for the parade and nobody wanted to see him in that position. He says that he was and still dances to earn money and that it was his only way to make a living. It is true that he had some problems at the end of the eighties, but he overcame them and continued to work hard
