I was really into James Brown in the 60s and I saw he was coming to Cleveland. I bought tickets for me and my girlfriend and my sister and a foreign exchange student we had living with us for a year. She was from Sweden. I was 16 and somebody said something to me about being white. And I said what difference does that make, so we went to the concert. We were the only four white people there in the whole audience. I didn't care. We had a great time and danced our asses off. James Brown was fantastic, always on that backbeat. We got hassled a little bit after the concert but some nice black guys took care of it. What a night.
Yeah I got some words back then as well, but never any violence. Back in the 1960s democrats were giving blacks a hell of a lot of sh*t, killing their leaders and oppressing the F out of them and blacks felt people like James Brown was a refuge for them, he was theirs and any white people there were seen as a threat to that, but they NEVER got violent towards whites on the level the democrats did. I don't live in the USA anymore but I absolutely detest what the media has done to protect the democratic party, lying to people what that party is all about and I find it disgusting they are still around to this day. To quote Lt. Nate Gringsby, Civil war vet and friend of Abe Lincoln: "Through this inscription I wish to enter my dying protest against what is called the Democratic party. What's lost in all of James Brown's greatness, ironically, is his amazing vocal ability. Even in his advanced age he maintained great quality, tone, & control. On "Georgia" his riffs & runs are impeccable. His placement & timing is amazing. People only focused on his funky grooves & dance moves, but he's just as good of a singer as a dancer. Maybe even better. His singing gets over looked because people only hear the "screams, screeches, hit me, get up, get on the good foot" short phrases etc. His singing was amazing. Pure musical genius.

I have seen James Brown for the first time in my life after 31 years, after hearing a lot about him. I can honestly say that this is one of the best concerts i have ever seen, even if James Brown himself stalled for half of it.

Saw James perform in El Paso, TX when was VERY up in age. He sounded and performed just....like...he.....sounds....right here. I absolutely couldn’t believe it. It was magical and thought that I was witnessing some type of sorcery.
I love having alternating rhythm sections, like a twin -engined bus. When one has worked awhile, the other one freshly kicks in. That must have been the only way to keep the groove airtight. What an incredible counterpoint these guys had. Like a soul train chugging through every era of his history.
The JB's was very good and the ladies was good as well. James Brown is still the man. I love to watch him everytime he on stage. Exciting person to watch.

I have seen James Brown for the first time in my life after 31 years, after hearing a lot about him. I can honestly say that this is one of the best concerts i have ever seen, even if James Brown himself stalled for half of it.

Saw James perform in El Paso, TX when was VERY up in age. He sounded and performed just....like...he.....sounds....right here. I absolutely couldn’t believe it. It was magical and thought that I was witnessing some type of sorcery.
