No pyrotechnics, no big screen behind them, no laser light show. Just four absolutely mind blowing musicians giving an amazing, all time performance.
well said
also, one thing i love with back in the day compared to concerts/festivals nowadays is no one is on their phones recording it. everyone is in the zone of watching and just enjoying without seeing it through their phone which a majority do whenever you got to concerts nowadays.
Thats music.
@@jamesstevenson9340 Yeah that always is funny to me about younger people today. Why not see history through your own eyes? I can understand trying to record something that happens spontaneously (like a train wreck or tornado), but a concert...please. You miss the thing you paid for (the concert), your recording will never be unique (thousands of others are doing the same thing), and no one will want to watch your 10 minute video on your phone of a concert they've already seen 20 times on TH-cam already....smh.
aboslutly .. pure raw live music.. makes today computer and lip synicing and background music and voices being put to shame .. love this raw live music...

This was the greatest live performance of all time. Everything here are off the charts. Roger Taylor's drumming was second to none. John Deacon was stellar playing the bass guitar. Brian May was awesome in the lead guitar. Freddie Mercury's powerful voice was out of this world. Queen is not all about Freddie Mercury, he's sorrounded by highly talented musicians as well.
That's a fact that made them great, but they stayed great until the end because everyone respected that the other guys are talented; there was a humility.
And to think in their beginning years Roger and Brian dismissed him just after their lead quit...all because of his teeth smh. (Skip a few decades) - Freddie Mercury tribute. 💯🤟🏿
Not forgettiong Spike Edney who you can see in the background (to the left of the drums) playing keyboards/guitar and backing vocals.
WAS? no no no no it IS the greatest of all time.
Their full show at Wembley for Live Magic was killer too. One Vision, what an opener.
I’m French , I was 25 years at this time and I attented this concert , amazing experience !
that’s amazing man! can you please describe how it was?
Lucky😢😮
Yur very lucky❤❤❤❤❤
I’m still in shock. What I experienced that day at Wembley was beyond anything I could have imagined. The moment Freddie Mercury stepped on stage, the entire stadium ignited. He had an unbelievable presence, an energy that surged through the crowd like an electric wave.
When he started his legendary "Ay-Oh", a shiver ran down my spine. We were 72,000, yet we felt like one, answering his voice as if under a spell. Then "Radio Ga Ga" began, and our hands clapped in perfect unison, like a sea in motion.
Each song built up the momentum, and by "We Will Rock You", I felt an indescribable euphoria. But it was "We Are the Champions" that truly overwhelmed me. Singing those words, surrounded by thousands of people in tears, was pure magic, absolute unity.
This wasn’t just a concert. It was a moment in history, an emotional shockwave, the greatest show of my life.
@ absolutely in love with your story… I would give everything to have been there, you are so fortunate!! 🥹
I thank my dad and mom for introducing me to Queen (seeing as though I was born a year after he died). How is possible to miss someone you've never met? Freddie has that impact several years later.
I was a 4th year apprentice and in the main aisle of the electroplating shop when a workmate named Pat walked past and said he heard on the news that Freddy had died. You obviously don't have that memory but I'm sure there are others that stick as hard your mind as this did to me.

That is where history was created!!!
i just wish he had finished Rhapsody first.

Spot on. That fist thrust by Freddie rising from the piano amidst Brian’s power A chord is one of my favorite Queen “still shots” ever.
I just showed this to my three-year-old daughter for the first time. Halfway through, she took her shirt off, started dancing, pretended to play guitar, and had the time of her life. So proud.

Great parenting! You go, Mama!
She’s Freddie reincarnated, LOL. Wouldn’t you be the lucky one? 😝
Widely regarded as the best 20 minutes of live rock ever, Queen stole the show with this set. No one expected them to own Live Aid…but they came out of left field and surprised everyone. When you consider the fact that this was not a Queen show but a festival, never has an audience been so engaged. Magnificent!
It’s was the best live performance ever if u don’t belive me check on Google 😊
Thank the road crew. Queen brought their own who knew how to make their band shine, everyone else used the venue road crew and were beset with technical issues that's one of the reasons the crowd is so eager they've been waiting all day for a performance like this.
They practiced a lot and made sure their sound system was working perfectly. Most of the other artists kinda winged it. They also requested to be placed at the prime slot. They were ready, and they gave it all, especially Freddie! Their professionalism and performance were top notch.
I watched the whole thing after the fact bc I was 4 when it happened but yeah Queen was the best. With Freddy dying less than a year later seals it
@@tylerchapman9234he was around another six years.
Freddie called himself a musical prostitute and he was right. When he was on stage he sold you everything, his mind, body and soul; every member of the audience went home with a piece of Freddie that they would own forever. That is what the very greatest artists, in whatever genre, do and why they achieve legendary status.
Freddie you are a light in my darkness.

As a musician, i am still amazed at the quality of the sound Queen manage to play on this live set! The beat is tight and steady, the guitars and bass are sharp and Mercury's voice is powerful and clear! Little detail : All this happens during a multi-band live show so kudos to the techs and support crew that were the unsung heroes of Live Aid .
Speaking of, I love Freddie's love and appreciation he shows to the techs and stagehands through out
Freddy's command of the stage is legendary. I wish I had that ability, when I play.
He was actually advised by his doctor not to perform this event as he had an infection in his vocal chord, but he went on to perform anyway and made history.
Here's a story you will like...
In the control room, there were markers on the soundboard with a note stating...
"DO NOT INCREASE," but Queens sound engineer went into the control room and increased the sound as high as he could as Queen was entering the stage, and he did this by Freddie's insistence. That's why the people were roaring! After Queen exited the stage, the volume was turned back down.
Great great story - but how true is it? @@cindywilbur4148
The way that Freddie Mercury commanded not only that stage, but the 72,000 people in attendance at Wembley, another 89,000 in attendance at John F. Kennedy Stadium in Philadelphia, and 1.9 “BILLION” live viewers (NEARLY 40% OF THE WORLDS POPULATION) that evening will “NEVER” be duplicated. It was/is still considered by the majority of artist, and the majority of music fans to be the best live performance by a band ever in the history of music. Most importantly this event really put world hunger on the map for much of the world. Unfortunately to this day children and people still starve to death while we live in a world of abundance.
Merci pour votre compréhension je suis en vacances avec le soleil ☀️☀️☀️ 😅😅❤❤

Freddy once said before Queen, that he wasn't going to be a star, he was going to be a legend. There had never been anyone like Freddy before or after & we will never see another like him. Freddy wasn't just an incredible singer, he was a force of pure will & nature. It's truly heartbreaking to know that just 6 years after this he would pass away. Gone but NEVER forgotten. When the audience is singing louder then the band that's a rarity in music. Knowing that Freddy Mercury's health wasn't the best also and he sounded this amazing just solidifies why they were called Queen. This is one of the best live performances of all time for anyone. Period.

Everyones holding up their arms, but no one is holding a phone in their hand, everyone is just being there in the moment and the only thing recorded of this legendary concert is in their memory.
That's true. A common rejoinder nowadays is that if we'd have had smartphones back then, people would have been doing the same thing, but that misses the point. Of course we would if it had developed at the same pace and we'd become accustomed to using them all the time, because we are the same creatures now as we always have been, but the point is that the technology has changed our behaviour and we don't really experience these events properly anymore, the technology tempts us into distraction. Much as the internet dilutes our normal human behaviour and can bring out the worst in us. We are tempted to use these technologies and often get some sort of satisfaction or even tangible benefits from doing so, but it comes at a cost. I definitely think that aspects of life such as experiencing a live, communal event are better without smartphones and cameras.

I was 7 years old when this played and I remember my uncle watching this. My aunt is a lesbian and dealt with a lot of the BS in the '80s so she was a huge queen fan and other artists that were coming out back then! As I watch it today it brings back a lot of memories. This man was probably one of the most talented singers to ever walk the face of Earth. These kids today do not know what a real live performance is. I'm not a Taylor Swift fan but you can take Taylor Swift and every single pop music star today and put them together and they still would not equal the talent of Freddie Mercury! The man had a voice of gods! He was an entertainer He knew how to get the crowd going. Love how he blows kisses at the audience and he knows that he's good You can see his pride in his work. There's no voice clean up. No pre-recorded background music. This is straight talent. This is when singers were actual artists and they sounded better live. There will never be another live performance like this. There will never be another Freddie Mercury.

I have always loved Queen and Freddy Mercury. If I'm not mistaken, this might have been the last time that we saw him alive and performing.
The following year, 1986 they released the album “A Kinda Magic” and toured the album in what was their final round of concerts. Was called the “Magic tour”. I think these concerts were only in Europe. Managed to see them in Slane, Ireland that year. Was magical like their album!!
His last live performance with queen was in August of 1986 at Knebworth. And his last musical live performance was in April of 1988.
If you have a chance google Queen live at Wembley 1986. One of the bands final shows they did on the Magic Tour
The camera men and the director are unsung heroes here, this was a live broadcast, streamed across the world with no rehearsal, almost 40 years ago. The panning up as Freddie lifts his arm at , just so much so the sun breaks through to give that golden glow.

輝いているヨ✨✨🎉🎉
СССР этого не видел, так как был закрыт от мира железным занавесом.
Очень жаль😢
2024 here and I still watch this legendary performance everyday
Me also
40 años pasaron y brilla como si fuera hoy..gracias Freddy, Gracias Queen!!!
No light shows, no lasers, no fireworks. Just fucking good music and a hell of a performance! This concert will never be beaten. RIP Freddy ❤
No one expected queen to do this , completely out of the blue , so glad they did , beyond legendary , the whole band , bloody brilliant....
Beyond legendary, I genuinely don't know what the definition of this is, best 20 minutes in the history of rock, we miss you freddie, no one can touch you, end of....
Bowie was up next, apparently the quote was, how am I supposed to follow that...?
Respect the hell out of David as an artist, writer, but he's not wrong, legends in their time......
Not a cell phone in sight...everyone into the concert...such energy...the good old days.
Pack it in 💀
True undivided attention
The only time you can say that and I wont roll my eyes
11:37 The way Freddie hugged and left a big smile on the man's face who's carrying and arranging the cables of the camera 😢❤
It was at 6:54 that every other band performing that day figured out they were simply the opening and closing acts for the greatest Queen Concert to ever occur.
hit the nail on the head!
This live performance should have been on the golden record sent along with the Voyager 1 space probe for aliens to find and listen to at some point in the future…
Hate to say it but the voyager 1 launched like 8 years prior to this concert @@ncard00
@@ncard00 Aliens would have thought we were some kind of cohesive people that were united. Boy what a let down it would be when they actually met us, lol.
Love this comment too much!! 😅
Really, who could ever own a stage like Freddie did. Magic!
Well just like Elton John said during that performance "you bloody stole the show"
It's a kind of magic
In control. In command.
He was the best ever and he made everyone else at band aid look absolutely average
The sound engineers also outdid themselves on this set. Best live performance ever!
I heard an urban legend that everyone else was mixed at FOH with the masted fader at -10dBu and for Queen's set, they took the tape off the master fader and pushed it to 0dBu. This was depicted in the film Bohemian Rhapsody on the Hill Audio J-series console. I mixed FOH on a Hill console once. Keep it in the red and it sounds brilliant.
@@happypapi1903 i dont have the slight idea of what this all means but sounds dope af
Freddie Mercury was so beautiful that he made even straight men fall in love! Man what total charisma and energy! I'm so in love with his voice and I wish he was still here! This was the best performance EVER in history!
There will never anyone like Freddie . Ever.
God I'd give anything to go back in time just to see this performance in person, I'm so jealous of EVERYONE in this stadium 😭
I’ll watch this in 2044 and still be amazed.
His doctor told him not to do this show because he had a vocal cord infection. He obviously did it anyway. This is Freddie Mercury with infected vocal cords. Fu¢|
You could tell he was getting tired towards the end, but just nailed it!
Estando mal tenia esa voz!!... como seria si hubiese estado sano
😮....
Taylor Swift wishes she could have that many people eat out of her hand
Aww yeah...
Reminds me of concert I was @ with Journey and Steve Perry performed with the full blown flu and was amazing.
Worshipped this performance when I was a kid. Watched it at least 3 times a day. Starts with the biggest song in rock history. The spine chilling shot of the audience clapping along with Freddie during Radio Gaga. Getting a whole stadium to yell “Alright” with him. Dancing with the cameraman who bumped into him. Ending with the biggest anthem rock songs of all time.
Might not have been Freddie strongest vocal performance (due to vocal condition) but it was definitely magic.
I never saw him as a celebrity, he felt different. He was a strange looking guy who you can’t look away from. He commanded your attention effortlessly. His music was always there for me growing up feeling outcasted for being a little strange myself. For people like me, he was our guy.
Formidable
BEST PERFORMANCE EVER!!!! 2024 Anyone?
Without doubt.
yes almost 2025
You better believe it Freddie FOREVER
I'm here. Dez2024.
I just had to watch this after watching the movie, and I have come to the conclusion that no matter how many great male vocalists have come and gone, Freddie Mercury IS IRREPLACEABLE. I hope and pray you've found peace.
I had to watch this right after watching the movie because I needed to know if they did the Live Aid scene justice. I must say they absolutely did!
freddie and michael dont forget him
Yeah...Michael Jackson turned down Live Aid in case playing a free show on TV hurt ticket sales for his own tour. What an asshole.
I am in Tanzania for work and fly home today. I had a free day yesterday and took the ferry from Dar Es Salaam to Zanzibar where Freddie Mercury was born. I visited the museum that was created in his honour on the ground floor of the house where he lived. It is small but quite moving, with his music playing in the background. It motivated to watch, yet again, Queen's iconic 1985 Live Aid concert. Freddie was said, "I'm not going to be a Star, I'm going to be a Legend." He was right.
Lucky!!!!
Wonderful. Thanks
Good for you
@LucianoAllenWatts No need to be so rude
Here Dec 28 2024. Been following Queen since I was 14 years old. I'm 66 now. Whenever I'm feeling down I watch this performance and feel both happy and sad. Sad that Freddie is gone.😢
We do the same mam😀
The most perfect 20 odd minutes in human history. This is just perfection, love you Freddie
"i sometimes wish id never been born at all" ohh freddie if you just knew how much you did and still do for us.. you are one of my reasons to still go on in this earth. Your songs have the best quotes that can fix my mood in seconds. whenever i feel sad, it's your songs that help. youve helped me through suicidal thoughts. i watch your concerts and love to pretend im there too. I love you so much freddie. you taught me how to sing too, i love learning to sing with your songs. im sorry for everything you had to go through in your life. if i could be friends with anyone in my life it would be you . thank you so much queen, brian roger and john too❤
That was beautiful!
You will be fine sweet lady l sel
I send my angelic unconditional love to you. ❤️😘🙏
I feel the same. Beautiful words. Anniversary tomorrow
Wow !!
Am I the only person to be crying over this clip? Just the musicality, the way he took control, the feedback people gave him and ultimately knowing what happened shortly after. 😭😭😭 What a singer and legend.
Absolutely not .... always in tears watching this !!
Yep I get tears every time
Yeah every time,, fantastic musicians x
No, you're not the only one
This is bittersweet. Both a smile and a feeling of enormous sadness. 3:01 that adorable smile of joy for John.
Just finished watching Bohemian Rhapsody again and still just as in love with Queen since I heard Another One Bites the Dust as a little girl. I know you're still rocking up in heaven Freddy Mercury!!! 🎉
It’s so impressive. Every move he makes is in perfectly sync with the music and the audience.
This is what music should be
I keep coming back to this when I'm feeling fed up. Freddy my lovely man thank you for still making an old girl happy
Ты держись
Yes❤ This old girl as well.
I didn’t know him in my young life ,but I absolutely love him now, I’m 74 now ,you can’t believe the pleasure he’s given me. ❤️
How can you 74 years old and dont know him back then sir. Just curious, queen is so big back then righth?

December 2024
Queen are still the Champions ❤️
Freddie had this thing that prevents you from taking your eyes of him. That's not even charisma, its like pure magic.❤
Yep, magnetic.😊
He just commands it! Oozing pure confidence and talent. It's memorizing!
Playing the piano... the guitar, voice and a great action on stage... THIS IS REAL MUSIC... not the shit in now days :( and of course people ON FIRE and singing the songs and not recording with their phones.. what an era for the music...
Freddie owned the world for 25 minutes
He owns the world forever
