I think its good that teachers are getting a small look so they better understand that the military, and the corps particularly,is honorable. my only hope is theyre doing this at san diego as well. semper fi

If kids went to the marines before high school , they’d learn a lot more

I had an retired Marine DI as a teacher once. He took no shit, whatsoever.

True! My H.S dean was a former Marine and he didn't take shit from anybody. In fact I wouldn't dare do anything stupid and If i did he made me feel stupid.

A couple of teachers from my school did this. More should do it.

Guaranteed! these kids need something to be proud of. the military will give them that, self respect and respect of others along with discipline.

I would absolutely LOVE to see my teachers go through boot camp.

I'd imagine a lot less kids showing up for school. You don't get a choice in Parris Island, if you say that you quit, they make you stay as a working party for several months longer at the minimum. That, in my mind, is the strongest motivation to continue through training.

Haha, that Drill Instructor that boards the bus was my knowledge DI at Boot Camp. Ole' Staff Sergeant Wells. I was in his squad during the Crucible and I got my EGA from him. He got his training out of you... for sure.

As a high school student myself, I would agree with that! I hate so many of the people in my generation; there's no more respect for authority from what I've seen.

Semper Fi marines, I wish every citizen was required to serve for at least one year, even if it was a non-combat role. The greatest years in my life were in the corps. I agree with the post that said if there were more teachers like DI's we would not have these discipline issues. The service is not for everyone but discipline is a fundamental benefit no matter your station.

  • @naruhinafan94

It looked similar to an SS flag, but it was not one. The colors were wrong. Also, it probably stood for Scout Sniper, which they were. I admit, it came across wrong. However, they were in a combat zone dealing with a lot of other things, and maybe the dots didn't connect completely. Most people are transformed for the better, but some still remain assholes. It's that way with ANY organization or group. Those men and women normally get weeded out really fast.
