However, I'd imagine if I had never experienced Marine boot and been to war two times it would have been difficult. This video sure did bring back memories, lol.
I remember getting out of boot camp and going to Itb afterwards, there was another marine who called the combat instructor sir instead of Sgt , so because of that we got to be recruits the first week of Itb
Glad to see that rifle range training has to turned more ground level and hands on instead of getting methodology, by the book training. This will build great marksmen.
LoriLinks maybe, maybe not. You could have no combat experience for 20 years of being a marine. It just depends on what is going on . The time I’m joining is when, if we’re going to go to another war in the Middle East, it will be startinf
I'm pretty sure my drill instructor was in one of the clips of this video. I spent a week at Parris Island with my JROTC unit. I'll never forget his face. I'll never forget Parris Island. :)
Oo-fuckin'-rah. I didn't think so while I was in it, but looking back, boot camp was one of the best things I've ever gotten myself into. Semper Fi, Drill Instructors, and thank you for keeping our Corps alive!
Just graduated Bootcamp Nov 10th 2021, They can and do all that and more. You just won't ever see it advertised. Had a DI in my company throw a recruit in a dryer at Pendleton when I was on Firewatch and put it on spin, i'd pay to see that in a commercial.
@@joshtreola968 congratulations brother💯🙏🏼 my friends older brother who served in Iraq told him that he was beat up by a DI, How often does stuff like that happen?😂😂😂
@@shaquille_0atmeal69_ Quite often, Had a DI in the same company as me get fired for kicking the shit out of a recruit in another platoon. That stuff still happens but its a lot more policed now. DI's will get NJP'd or admin sep'd if they get caught going overboard on recruits. So now it usually happens when the officers aren't around.

In the early 1950s my Dad was a JDI and then SDI at the MCRD in San Diego after he was wounded in combat in Korea in 1951. Things have changed a great deal since then but looks like the DIs are still getting the job done!
Bootcamp is pretty tough, the physical and mental part wasnt a problem for me, the frustrating part of bootcamp were the people who never listened. WE ALL payed for their mistakes. Everybody will face their own challenges, but you'll make it through! OORAH
My friend told me that, too. The more you Volunteer, the less likely the D.I.'s will mess with you, but it won't completely get them off your ass, obviously. They will completely lay off of everyone at a certain point, though. I like how the Army has OSUT(where you do Basic Training plus your MOS at the same time) because then you don't have to worry about doing more training and getting yelled at again. it's all mind games and how well you can handle stress.
I want to join the military, but I can't understand wtf they are yelling. the DI would yell at me to do something and I'd be like "what?" and then they'd fucking kill me lol
Crazeddude1000 what out of anything I said implied that? no. I can't understand what orders I'd be issued when they sound like barking dogs. "BAR-RAR-RAR--RAR-RAR!”
mega .E Yeah know, it was a lousy place, but at the end of boot, I wanted to do it all over again. I could take on ANYTHING.......and we were bend proof. We literally could do push ups, mountain climbers, sit ups, leg lifts, and bend and thrusts for HOURS. We were all animals!! The memories a Marine will NEVER forget.
Rachel Reid for what seemed like HOURS. Those were easy, it was the bends and thrusts you had be afraid of. A Marine in BC literally creates a puddle of sweat under their body during a good thrashing. Sliding in that caused a few broken noses during push ups, mine included.
So even the most trivial thing must be done immediate and THE correct way. This makes the first phase--the breakdown phase--just as important as learning to fire a rifle. THANK YOU Marine DIs
If I could go back to 19 I would join the Marines or go for Navy Seals I'm very athletic strong and tough I just mean I can take a lot. But now I'm over the hill LOL
There is a reason for the madness, it works. I went thru PI over 40 years ago and if my DI's didn't smack me up along side my head at least once a day i thought they didn't love me anymore. Now would i do this all over again, "ain't no fuckin way".Once was more than enough for me. 0311.....
Hello, I am trying to find more information regarding my Father’s time in the service. He recently has passed away, were you at MCRD San Diego 40 yrs ago as a PI? He was SDI SGT Ratliff. Not yet a DI at that time, I don’t believe.
Joy Woodworth yes there is always a Drill Instructor with the recruits 24/7. When taps play there will be one Drill Instructor in the office all night. They also get a certain amount of days off per month witch is only a few days. When a Drill Instructor has duty the night before he usually gets part of the next day off. A lot of friends had marriages end, just because of the amount of time they are away from their families. In the fleet we usually have a 12-16 hour day, for a Drill Instructor, even if he isn’t the duty over night, his day can consist of 18-20 hour days depending on what training day they are on and how early said training day starts.
Great Men! God Bless the Marines and our military. I will always have your 6 and fight for you to get the job done. Unfortunately, there are a lot of Americans that don't have your back but I'll fight to the end to protect you guys... OOHHRRAAAAHHHH!!!

Robert Bowers Do you know the point of one? It's a system to break down and bring everyone to the same level regardless of age, gender, race, etc. So they can build everyone up as a team.
Robert is a stupid civilian...how do we know ladies and gentlemen? ‘Cause he called them “drill sergeants”!! Fact of the matter is “drill instructors” are usually the first person the recruits look for and thank after graduating. My guess is that his boyfriend was stolen by a female marine.

Glad to see that rifle range training has to turned more ground level and hands on instead of getting methodology, by the book training. This will build great marksmen.
Reality's gonna set in real
Quick now do you understand? As soon as you get on that plane and you're on your way to Afghanistan
do you get sent to war at some point of being a marine❓
LoriLinks probably
I think Everybody should have a boot camp before they hit 20yrs old.
Me Keeping it real What if they want to go to college first?
+Johnny Spence boot camp to get into college haha... Of wait that's just air force
Then that’s not freedom.
It would do a lot of good im sure
Im 27 shipping too bootcamp in September...0311
I remembered getting thrashed on the day of graduation with my dress blues on.
Why did you get thrashed on graduation day?
Believe it or not some of them ask for it ONE LAST TIME
@@audemars_piguet13 Is my teacher the only person that showed us this
Man what sucks is that the Marine DI’s can’t do that anymore. I’m crying more than the recruits that had to go through all the screaming.
Just graduated Bootcamp Nov 10th 2021, They can and do all that and more. You just won't ever see it advertised. Had a DI in my company throw a recruit in a dryer at Pendleton when I was on Firewatch and put it on spin, i'd pay to see that in a commercial.
@@joshtreola968 congratulations brother💯🙏🏼 my friends older brother who served in Iraq told him that he was beat up by a DI,
How often does stuff like that happen?😂😂😂
@@shaquille_0atmeal69_ Quite often, Had a DI in the same company as me get fired for kicking the shit out of a recruit in another platoon. That stuff still happens but its a lot more policed now. DI's will get NJP'd or admin sep'd if they get caught going overboard on recruits. So now it usually happens when the officers aren't around.
@@joshtreola968 ohhh okay I gotcha😂😂 damn that’s wild. He had to like stay extra time to graduate because they broke his arm and made him lie about it lol this was like in 2007 tho lol a long time ago
@@shaquille_0atmeal69_ Yeah I didn't see anything like that. Heard there was a kid who got forced to drink from a canteen by chugging it and filling it up 7 times until his stomach exploded. kid has medical benefits with Sgt's pay for the rest of his life and the DI got discharged.
I get to sit at home, surfing the internet, not a care in the world because of these men and women, and the generations before them. Thanks :)
The mind programming begins from the time you step off the bus!
And thank god for that because look at 55% of the rest of the
world's military force. Most are very undisciplined.
These young men are the reason why the United States of America is the greatest country in the world.
i was commissioned in 1970 but still remember my DI and have lot of respect for him he first broke us from civilians and made us into soldiers
"I guess you talk in port arms to" I could never understand what he said until today...
I want to join the military, but I can't understand wtf they are yelling. the DI would yell at me to do something and I'd be like "what?" and then they'd fucking kill me lol
scoobydoob 1 You think combat is calm quite and collective?
Crazeddude1000 what out of anything I said implied that? no. I can't understand what orders I'd be issued when they sound like barking dogs. "BAR-RAR-RAR--RAR-RAR!”
It’s one of those things u get used to
I wish I could go back to bootcamap sometimes
why would you go back there
mega .E Yeah know, it was a lousy place, but at the end of boot, I wanted to do it all over again. I could take on ANYTHING.......and we were bend proof. We literally could do push ups, mountain climbers, sit ups, leg lifts, and bend and thrusts for HOURS. We were all animals!! The memories a Marine will NEVER forget.
mountain climbers damn
Rachel Reid
for what seemed like HOURS. Those were easy, it was the bends and thrusts you had be afraid of. A Marine in BC literally creates a puddle of sweat under their body during a good thrashing. Sliding in that caused a few broken noses during push ups, mine included.
OR's Lonewolf we call it I.T. now or "incentive training" thrashing is a better term
So even the most trivial thing must be done immediate and THE correct way. This makes the first phase--the breakdown phase--just as important as learning to fire a rifle.
THANK YOU Marine DIs
speeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaadddd! that Drill Instructor is AWESOME!!!
RIP rolled sleeves
Zombie sleeves... March 9th.
ANDDD they're back👍🏽
Thanks for your service Marines!
Kris Johnson your welcome from a Marine mom. Proud of my boy!!
Had a good time.
I can't wait to see my son when he graduate next month
I was in boot camp parris island when this video was posted. 3rd battalion Kilo Co. PLT 3034. It's interesting to see this video now in 2020.
If I could go back to 19 I would join the Marines or go for Navy Seals I'm very athletic strong and tough I just mean I can take a lot. But now I'm over the hill LOL
I love how so many people mistake Discipline for brainwashing.
Well it goes once a marine always a marine I love y'all devil dogs semper fi
Mo Good to see you in this, Much Love and Respect, Semper Fi.
I'm going to enlist this Thursday.
I wanna be able to say i did this one day (:
#ThankYouMarines
There is a reason for the madness, it works. I went thru PI over 40 years ago and if my DI's didn't smack me up along side my head at least once a day i thought they didn't love me anymore. Now would i do this all over again, "ain't no fuckin way".Once was more than enough for me. 0311.....
Hello, I am trying to find more information regarding my Father’s time in the service. He recently has passed away, were you at MCRD San Diego 40 yrs ago as a PI? He was SDI SGT Ratliff. Not yet a DI at that time, I don’t believe.
Im Irish hope can enlist easily
Thanks really hope I get the chance
Evan Mc Donnell did u go?
Are you in?
I’m not American but love what the marines do hope we bring back conscription here in Australia
You're correct, and as a Drill Instructor you remind them of that at every opportunity.
Are the drill instructors told to talk like demons?
they scream just as much if not more then the recruits do they lose there voices and get even less sleep
Charles Gerbino and are with their rcts 24/7 for 13 weeks

This makes me high to see this and know that I accomplished this in my life. It has reflected through out my life impressed upon me that I can do and go towards instead of running away. Thanks to all the Drill Instructors that take these young people and make fighting men that is feared the world. SEMPER FI to all the DEVIL DOGS - GET SOME!!!!!!!!!
Watching this kinda makes me feel a little bit better, and i can't wait to be a Marine!
4:48 screeeeam!
SEMPER FI MARINES
Thu yea thurrr!!!
I guess we talk at port arms too.......love it...
What the senior being interviewed is saying still applies to this day. Take it from someone who learned the hard way.
I ship this weekend, can't wait to embrace the hell I'm going to get put through. The di's can't stop time from running out, woooooooo
embrace the suck brother
How was it?
Update?
Yo dude how was marines???
👍💪❤️🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸❤️💪👍
Drill sergeants were the ones bullied in school
You know like half of them get volentold to be DS and DI's right? It's not their choice...
No excuse for being a jerk
Robert Bowers Do you know the point of one? It's a system to break down and bring everyone to the same level regardless of age, gender, race, etc. So they can build everyone up as a team.
Robert is a stupid civilian...how do we know ladies and gentlemen? ‘Cause he called them “drill sergeants”!! Fact of the matter is “drill instructors” are usually the first person the recruits look for and thank after graduating. My guess is that his boyfriend was stolen by a female marine.
Erma Gurd your comment is as gay as your picture
Hated every minute of the first four weeks when I was there. Can't stop laughing looking back at it 10 years later.
I'm going to enlist in a few weeks. I'll be going to MCRD San Diego. It's kind of cool that I'll be going there since I was born in San Diego. It won't be cool that I'll have to spend my time there at Marine Boot camp, though.
I miss these days believe it or not. Been in for a year now, Boot Camp was the most motivating part. 3rd BTLN mike co.
Can't wait to serve my country just like my brother and all past and present marines.
ill be right there with you im heading to san diego
Sshaw17 I agree with that comment. Even though im not military, anybody who has it in them like these ppl shown here gain my instant respect. They are putting their lives on the line to defend our nation. They are the ones who we look to when our nation is in trouble.
I ship July 23rd next summer after I graduate high school. I know it’ll be hard and draining, but I’m more excited for boot camp than I am for my high school graduation
I was in Paris Island in July of 1968 platoon 396 boy that was a hot 2 months…I love the corps semper fi.. OoHARH
Remember once a marine always a marine…even at 71..
Beret abi and I did full fledged training together before the age of 18 years old... Just brats learning daddy's craft ... and he resubmitted after high school. He's one of the best in the world. Amazing to be able to call him and those like him friend and non-biological family. This reminds me of him.☺️
Dude It take balls to be honest like that and for that I respect you
I loved Drill. Nothing finer than seeing 3rd phase recruits marching.
The one thing that a Marine will always remember is his Drill Instructors.
