- Hey friends, do me a favor and Like and Subscribe if you enjoy this video. Thanks!!!
Here's my latest sound/tone analysis of two iconic pedals. The TS9 vs the Boss Blues Driver. Hope this helps anyone looking to purchase either of these two pedals. - เพลง
They’re different tools for different jobs in my experience.
The Blues Driver is more of a full-range drive. Does everything from clean boost, to crunch, to distortion. Works great with a clean or dirty amp.
The TS is an overdrive. Lots of midrange, highs and lows are rolled off. Better for boosting a dirty amp, or another dirt pedal (like a BD-2).
There are no rules, but they definitely have different strengths/weaknesses. ;)
Exactly. If I have it my way, I'm straight into an amp on 11 and that's it. But unfortunately, that's not always possible. I bet no one tells you you're too loud in heaven. Can't wait.
What pedal goes first after the guitar???
This was exactly the body and information I was looking for.
Thank for taking the time to post this 🎸🤘🏻
My pleasure. Thanks.
I like the Blues Driver on humbuckers and the Tube Screamer on single coils. For P90s, I like the Boss OD-3 (or a Tube Screamer for a lighter overdrive.)
Variety is the spice of life.
Who asked you?
Awesome video. Love the intro. Great playing and comparison. I just bought both 😂
Hell yeah. Thanks!
One can immediately hear the mid range boost in the Ibanez. The blues driver has a more transparent mid. The Waza craft version of the Blues Driver has a custom mid boost making it more versatile than the stock version. The mid boost on the Waza ain't as pronounced as the Ibanez, but it does thicken the whole tone quite a bit.
Nice
Being used to a Digitech Metal Master as my first distortion pedal, to go with more of a classic sound…I don’t think you can go wrong with both! 🌮🤷♀️
Your wisdom proceeds you buddy! Hell I may just stack 2 or 3 of them sumbitches right on top of one another. Reach into another dimension for that stank.
I use a 15 / 20 watt tube amp and mic it up through the mains. Both Les Pauls and Strats sound very Bluesy with plenty of crunch. I'm an old school Blues player, so this is how I grew up. Los Angeles
From your lips to god's ears pal. That's how you do it.
Very helpful. Thanks.
You Bet!
Your first minute, monologue got me as a sub. Preach brother!
I appreciate that!
Great vid ! Thank you. I think I will go with the Tube Screamer.
Nice!
Either one can be set to produce great overdrive sounds, but they can also be set to sound uninspiring. It's all about context. The examples in this video certainly illustrated some of their tonal differences. I use a BD-2 as the last pedal before a clean, loud amp, set to unity output with the gain at about 1 o'clock, and riding the guitar's volume control to adjust the amount of overdrive.
Yeah for sure. Dialed in, most players can probably get something at least close to what they want in just about any guitar/amp config. Probably why they sell so well just generally across the board.
I’m no effects expert, but the Blues Driver feels/ sounds way better. Thanks for the comparison!
Boss sounds like a distortion pedal in comparison to the warm, rounded, fuzzy tubescrmr.
I agree
Great playing..very good video ..
Thanks Glenn!
Thanks for posting this comparison. I think they both sound good, but the blues driver has more clarity, punch and crispiness to its sound. It pushes through and stands out above the background better. The tube screamer sounds kinda muddy to me. I'll be going for a Blues driver myself, for sure.
The BD has been on my board off and on for 20 years. Hard to go wrong.
I have a bunch of different OD pedals and I always seem to fall back to the TS-9. It really seems to tighten up the bottom end of my amps just a little bit more than the others.
You’re speaking my language man. I have a vintage Super Reverb that gets real muddy after its been on for about an hour. I use the TS-9 for that exact same reason that happens.
Если верить картинке и звуку, у Вас разные настройки Gain на педалях: на TS9 - 9 часов, на BD - 12 часов.
Отсюда и такая принципиальная разница, TS работает как грелка, а BD получается педалью Overdrive.
Those are nice portraits of guitars back there
Thank you very much.
From what I’m hearing in the video, the Blues Driver suits the sound my ears prefer
Glad to help friend. Happy Jamming!
Blues driver, without a doubt!
Zero doubts!
@Kevintheguitarlord yeah,I am pretty sure that's what without a doubt means!
@@markiannetta4198 completely sans doubt!!!
I think the gain and level are mixed up, but good video 👍
Yeah he had the gain on the BD2 where the level was set on the TS9
The blues driver is better. Easy question.
I respect that.
Unless you prefer the ts9
Blues drive ❤

100%
Tube screamer 👍
Boom
Blues driver got more balls but i like the sound of tube screamers.. Its not so noisy
Balls vs noise. The eternal struggle of guitar players.
Pega o tubescreamer e coloca um 220nf no c3 vai dar o mesmo grave que o blues driver
Nice video but it seems like you didn’t try to match them at least at the beginning Re: amt of od.
Yeah I agree. My thinking on this one is, dialing them in and comparing is kind of useless since the positions they sound best changes from guitar to guitar and amp to amp. My main hope in this vid is really just to give a general idea of what they sound like in comparison at the specific spots. Thats really the only constant I can achieve is position of gains and tone knobs. Its highly flawed for some purposes of comparison but has some merit for a few purposes. Thanks!
Its the Ranger that gives the SRV tone not the tubescreamer.
It's Stevie Ray Vaughan's fingers that give him that tone.
And a Dumble (at least in cold shot era)
I never understood the buzz surrounding the Tube Screamer. There was no bottom end in the sound. "Holy Grail" my butt.
Give em hell Greg!!!
Fulltone OCD way cooler than these two combined.
Gotta say, I might agree with you this week. Next week the winds may change but today, I'm OCD all the way.
Video
There is no question. Blues driver is superior.
There can be only one!
That tube screamer is so honky and nasally compared to the blues driver.
I personally prefer the blues driver in this video but it all depends on the song. I’m sure both have their strengths and unique characteristics.
I was a little shocked when I plated them together like that at how different they are. Played them both separately hundreds of times and always felt the difference, but never that profound.
Yea it’s crazy how an A - B test can show the differences.
Jimi never used em & he sounded ok 🙃
He was ok sure.
I call Bullshit! Macho is the Tube Screamer! Hogan at best is at best the Arion
This is the winner of the comment section. For the record, I agree.
@@KevintheguitarlordThat would make Andre the Giant a big muff

Why would you make a video comparing these two? They are COMPLETELY different pedals for completely different uses. Blues Driver is a standalone fender amp in a box pedal. You can even use it as a fuzz with the gain all the way up. A Tube Screamer is a boost OD pedal made for going into either a cranked amp or another gain pedal.
I get what you're saying, they're very different products. Apples and Oranges if you will, to people in the know or people with a trained ear. But most people aren't in the know and don't have your experience with them. But they are both overdrive pedals, and specifically they are two of the best selling OD pedals of all time and consistently top ten sellers currently. So the video is for people to hear the audible form of what you basically just put in written word.
I'm in the inexperienced category and have both in my cart at Sweetwater. I appreciate the video for just what it is.
Pipe down! We wanna see the comparison, you ol’ stick in the mud! ;)
OK, we get it, you’re a badass pedal nerd. You might know the difference, but for 99% of normies these are just two dirt pedals that sound pretty much the same.
This is like comparing KFC to Popeyes and some fried chicken nerd goes “nooooo kfc is kentucky and popeyes is louisiana, they’re tOoOtaLLy DiFfeRenT.”
Because for people who are new to guitar pedals or maybe even playing the guitar in general, they don’t know what kind of overdrive they want. It’s nice to be able to hear a demonstration of the two so that when you go to the guitar store you can make an informed decision.
This is apples and oranges
