To be honest, I don't really care what he thinks. He doesn't need to make his opinion fact for everyone else. He is a ds-1 fanboy. I'm not, but I would never say TS is better than DS-1 either. I prefer the TS but everyone has their own favorite.

You asked if this video was helpful. This video was VERY helpful to me in my dotage. In the October, 2022 Premier Guitar magazine (which I am just reading now in 2024), they had a feature titled "10 Screamer-Style Pedals". Well, that meant absolutely NOTHING to me. An AI-assisted search led me to the name "Tube Screamer", which still told me nothing, but allowed me to find THIS video. Thanks.

I use mine straight into a Macbook Air with a Neural DSP Archetype fired up. With the gain at zero, and the level dimed, it's like a faux preamp of sorts and gives the plugin a very rich and warm harmonic sheen.

I just re-acquired a tube screamer. Had one 25 yrs ago until it disappeared during the years I had a teenage rock-band in my basement. Son was the drummer, on my drums. LOL Thanks Steve for the TS tips. It has enough scream to cover for lots of situations.
In the meantime I've been using a blues driver for the same purposes as you outline here. I play a lot very close to clean. The BD is far more subtle when gain is zero. It fattens up the tone, especially through a solid state amp. I use it for a little boost with a hint of hair (between 0-1) when going into a chorus. Otherwise I leave it on at zero all the time. It just has a great tonal effect that makes my transistor amps sound warm and fat like a tube amp. eg: 335 on a crunch channel. Step on BD at zero. Sounds like the LP Junior tone on Mississippi Queen.

You can make a little circuit with a 741 op-amp easily and get a lot of gain, and a fuzz box (distortion). I made a couple years ago and for a few bucks. The only thing you need to do is make the enclosure (the box, plastic or metal) that's usually the hardest part of the project. The circuit is very simple, and you can find schematics for many types online easily. You can also use an op-amp to make a mixer or more inputs too.

Do you have a video about the tone in this outro in your video. That's a lot of what I'm looking to achieve.
Do your guitar courses focus around metal music. That has been my struggle in learning the teachers are blues players.
Also does fortner still modify the tube screamers.

Dude whats up Steve 🤟thats a nice guitar man i really like that One...for whatever reason i laugh because most of my guitars are black idk i just am more drawn to black guitars lol ....yea that tube screamer is a must own if you decide to go with Ibanez which im a Ibanez guy for over 20 years i just love the tone they offer but more importantly they just feel awesome....was that a Friedman amp you were using?? God i cant imagine how much that baby cost😂lol but im sure its a monster 🎉..i saw that runt 20 watt JERRY CANTRELL series amp at guitar center used for like 900 bucks and the only reason i didn't buy it as much as i really really wanted it was you can tell the previous owner didnt keep it clean it was kinda dusty n dirty inside the tubes area and im ocd lol i like my equipment to be clean and as pristine as i can keep them no matter if its a pedal, amp, guitar or whatever.i work my ass off for my money so when i purchase something i take pride in the fact that ive earned it i worked for it i deserved it lol!!!! God damn this guitar obsession i have lately is out of control period lol .....well this is the life of a lonely single guy that has free time to do whatever i want and i chose music as my path to guide me through life 🤟🤟🤟thanks again steve for being our go to guy for the heavy goods brutha 🤪🤟
