This song is ridiculous. It shouldn't be covered. I don't know what I'm thinking. It's the rare perfect song both in composition, lyric and performance. It cannot be made better or even more interesting. It can only be downgraded. But screw it, here it goes anyways, for better or worse. Played on a Martin GPCX1AE

    I just got a mint condition one of those Sheratons off Ebay here in the UK for £320 including a hard case! It’s great to see so many people coming out in favour of it. A) Because I wouldn’t be able to afford a Gibson and B) Because in my hands it would not make a blind bit of difference anyway! 😂 The only thing is that the Sheraton weighs a ton! I don’t know how the weight compares with the Gibson? Great video and playing! 👍🏽

    One can immediately hear the mid range boost in the Ibanez. The blues driver has a more transparent mid. The Waza craft version of the Blues Driver has a custom mid boost making it more versatile than the stock version. The mid boost on the Waza ain't as pronounced as the Ibanez, but it does thicken the whole tone quite a bit.

    #2 definitely here. If I were going down the LP rabbit hole again, I'd probably go Eastman and never look back.... Bought a new LP Standard in '89 that was the biggest guitar regret in my 50+ yrs of playing. What a steaming pile. Fret sprout, bridge pickup intermittent cut-out, back to Gibson it went. Re-bound the neck, didn't fix the pickup issue, I offed it for $500 and was elated to see it go. They now go in the $3-4K range, I have no idea why... Great comparison video btw, thanks!

    • @GuitarlordJohnBurton
      @GuitarlordJohnBurton หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah I agree. My thinking on this one is, dialing them in and comparing is kind of useless since the positions they sound best changes from guitar to guitar and amp to amp. My main hope in this vid is really just to give a general idea of what they sound like in comparison at the specific spots. Thats really the only constant I can achieve is position of gains and tone knobs. Its highly flawed for some purposes of comparison but has some merit for a few purposes. Thanks!

    Definitely heard differences. The 57 classics aren’t as hot as the PUs in the R9. But here’s MY question: did the R9’s playability far surpass the Traditional? Just a little? Same? I’ve found that if it doesn’t FEEL good I won’t play it. Call me picky… great video

    • @GuitarlordJohnBurton
      @GuitarlordJohnBurton 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No real difference in playability that wouldn't be considered extremely subjective. I did like the R9 better in this case but those custom shop reissues all come off the line different from each other. I very well could pick up a different one and it not have the right feel to me personally. I actually know a guy that happened to. Paid like 6k for his dream R0 and just never felt like it had the right vibe in his hands. Sold it a year later. Guitars like that you just have to play and see what that specific one feels like.

So I prefer #2 However in Dirty channel, #1 guitar is more powerful and has great clarity sound. They are both nice guitar. Compehensive, buying an Epiphone is better than gibson.

    An apples and oranges comparison recorded with a potato…just what we all needed! 😂

    • @GuitarlordJohnBurton
      @GuitarlordJohnBurton 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah? And? Why would anyone compare apples to apples? They’re both apples. The whole point is to compare an apple to and orange and put the vast differences on blast so those who perhaps have had an apple but not an orange can become aware of said extreme differences. Apples to Oranges comparisons are probably more used in guitaring than apples to apples. Gibson vs Fender. Fender vs Marshall etc. It isnt until someone has eaten all the fruits that Tube Screamer 808 vs Tube Screamer Keely Mod becomes all the relevant. You are correct about the potato though.

    • @Flat_Stanley
      @Flat_Stanley 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@GuitarlordJohnBurton I can help you with that question. More people are trying to decide between one apple over another than one of the 7800+ species of apples over a specific species of oranges. Apparently, you are one of the few that find a video comparing two different style pedals dialed settings that no guitar player ever uses. Maybe these pedals are both new to you and this was somehow helpful to you. If so, that’s great. Myself and so many others are simply pointing out that this is not the type of video most guitar players are just dying to watch more of.

      More like a mocha latte vs Maxwell House black coffee. Although very different, still the same general product category of bean based beverage but I get your point. For it to be as you described I would have pitted the Tumnus guitar pedal Vs a pack of Big League Chew from the 80’s. Which I would do except I already ate all the Big League Chew. Still top 5 chewing gums ever invented in my opinion and when considering the marketing? Forget about it. It knows no equal. Making a cheap gum shaped like chewing tobacco and selling to kids so they can be like their idols who were chewing actual tobacco was brilliant. Come to think of it, I wouldn’t doubt if Big Tobacco actually owned and developed Big League Chew as a way to get the youth to start thinking about using mouth tobacco. Like a gateway product. Now I want some Big League Chew. Alright, thanks for the comment, Im gonna go find some Big League Chew. Rock On!!!

    Closet rocker here. I 'went electric' eight years ago after a lifetime playing acoustic. Bought half a dozen different guitars to try out and six years ago finally got a Sheraton II, immaculate condition and only £255 including case. Absolutely love it and invariably go back to it after giving the others an occasional airing; I will never get rid of it. (We're getting engaged next month when my divorce comes through.) I couldn't tell the difference in this test - desk top sound maybe not brilliant and my music ear is not the best in the world. Would I trade my Sheraton for a Gibson? Would an expensive Gibson make me a better player or sound better? Answers on a postcard please. . . . Yeah, I know, I'm not a professional musician. p.s. My number two favourite is a Les Paul 1960's Standard . . . . made by Epiphone, followed by a Squier Affinity Tele which has a crappy sound but is a beaut to play, especially with my small hands.

      Incorrect again pal. 1.) you clearly didn’t watch the video where it say they can go between 1000 and 2000 dollars depending on exact model. However, for this model, reverb sets the current valuation of the 2008-2011 Les Paul Traditional at between $1,271 and $1,983. There highest estimation doesnt even cross the 2k mark. In fact, out of the last 45 models that sold on Reverb only 3 of them sold for 2k with the majority falling around 1500 and yes a few, in “good” condition hitting 1300 or below. Being as how if you sell a guitar on reverb for 1300 they’re taking 100 in fees and you have to deal with shipping it etc, it is entirely reasonably to think someone would part with one for less than the 1200 they’d take home on reverb through FB or craigslist or wherever in cash. That also with the fact that I bought this years ago in a softer market. So Im not sure how you’re not seeing prices lower than 2k on Reverb but you may want to contact them because they’ve clearly targeted your computer for a scam to get you to over pay for gear.
