  • This video didn't start out as a shoot out, I just wanted too show you a quick way too dial in an overdrive pedal for a Rock/Metal tone and it turned into one of those WTF moments when you notice something.
My Name is Andy Eirich. I've been playing guitar for 20 plus years and though out the years I amassed an amazing amount of gear and played much more. But with that I've also learned some difficult lessons, learn from my mistakes, and also learn with me as we dive through the mire of endless gear to find the right stuff.

They are chalk and cheese. Lots of people use both, sometimes stacking them. Asking which is better is like asking whether a screwdriver is better than a spanner.

I think the tube screamer sounds warmer where the blues driver is more of a dry sound. I can hear the difference and it actually just helped me decide which one I want! Thanks!

The blues driver had some thump, but in this scenario the TS was a better pedal.

So one has temperature and the other has moisture content?

BD-2 sounds warmer, more crunch and bottom end.

I guess my ears are shot. I couldn't tell the difference.

Interestingly enough in certain situations they're hard too tell apart

@@andyje I thought the same. hell, even the play back sounded like both of them.

@@gordon9177 according to one of the pedal building sites the TS9, BD-2, SD-1 are similar excluding the clipping sections. I stumbled across this while researching for another video.

@Gordon...Your answer is probably the most honest. Dry/wet, dark/light, brown/red, people are full of crap with all that nonsense.
Show them 3 pedals and only play thru one and ask them which one sounded better....lol...They'd swear one sounded better over the other.

Its quite easy; You put both on your board, set one up for chunky or spanky rythm, and step on the other one for leads, and everything in between. k thx bye
