A weird bug that happens sometimes is that your controller may disconnect indefinitely if it's being charged via a different source (like a USB outlet or PC). A prolonged amount of time like this could "hardset" the controller and it won't be able to sync back with the console. If this happens, your best bet is pressing the reset button on the back and turning your PS4 on with the PS button via the controller while they're connected. It happened to me while I was in the middle of a game and was forced to restart. Frustrating, but thankfully nothing was actually wrong with it.
@@cxcarmic Can confirm. I PC game 99.99% of the time. Tried connecting my SCUF as well as a standard DS4 and neither of them worked inititally. Reset both controllers, tried with the SCUF first and worked first try.

I know its a old comment, but if its not working just connet yr keyboard to ps go to setting>device and and remove all contolers that are connected in seeting, then hold the ps and share button at the same time until the controler start to blick and go to the bottom of the device menue and there should be the controler and just press on it and conecct and it should work
For anyone having the issue that the USB cable is charging the controller but not connecting it to the ps4, you just have to try different USB cables until one of them works. It took me about 3-4 different cables until one of them worked.
In addition, for me it only worked when I found the original cable that came with my PS4. I had been trying with other random micro USB cables and it didn’t work for whatever reason.
@@nodon89 You can easily pair it using Bluetooth i just did it with mine. Go to settings and Bluetooth devices and just hold the share button and ps button and pair. I don't know why John didn't add this but it works so u dont need the perfect usb cable 👌🏾
The fix is so simple, just get a another micro USB cable like a Samsung one from a phone and reconnect the controller to your PS4 and that's all, just press the PS button and done.

Hi, i have honestly tried everything and nothing works. When i try the restart button method, it flashes white and then yellow and then turns off straight away. When i try pressing share and ps button together it flashes consecutively and then shuts down again. Sometimes when i plug it in the cable it just stays yellow. When i hard reset the ps4, the controllers work for about 20 seconds as they are blue and then randomly disconnect. Its not the controller or the cable as i have 2 controllers and they both arnt working and i use the cable to charge my headphones. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated thankyou.
If you have two controllers you can do it really easily with going into Bluetooth devices through settings and devices. Hold the share and ps button at the same time and once the ps controller pops up on the screen use the other controller to connect the unconnected controller.
Brilliant what a life saver! been banging my head (and the controller) for 2 days until I happened upon this video. Mine wasn't connecting or seeming to charge at all, just got a yellow light briefly when plugged in. After watching this I held down the ps button for ten seconds then pressed it again and hey presto, it sprang back into life. Many thanks
Update: it worked the once when I tried it then next time I fired up the ps4 it wouldn't budge. Seemed to work ok on my laptop up to a point using a little program I found to test it. Bit the bullet and ordered a look-a-like online and it worked first time, battery life not so good but usable.
Mine is different my controller didn’t die when I turn it on it turns on the ps4 but when it says push the ps button to go forward it doesn’t do anything it stays in the main screen where it says it again
What if it shows up to pair to your phone but not the PS4?! Edit: finally after weeks I was able to get it reconnected. I reset the remote, pressed “share” and the PS Button to start the BT blinking, and then plugged the remote in with a wire (I tried a new one). I saw it show up on the screen and used the main remote to select the DualShock controller and said “pair”
I went through 5 videos trying to fix it and then your vid pop up and it took a couple try’s but one of methods worked deleting all the devices one. So thank you.
If anyone is having trouble connecting other controllers, go to your SETTINGS>DEVICES and put the controller(s) into bluetooth pairing mode, and search/add them from there, also not sure if it matters but I also did the controller reset via the toothpick hole on the back of the controller. Thank so much John! My PS4 controller’s USB input got messed up and I forgot that it was messed up and connected it to my IPhone. I wanted to play my PS4 again so I go to connect it back to the PS4 with a usb cable then it hit me that it was messed up. To help y'all, I had it aswell stuck and searching for a while got me frustrated. So let me explain. I did the controller reset stuff and all, if you don't have an extra controller like I did. Use your TV remote to go through settings of your Ps4 when on ofcourse. Most of the TV's will work with the remote that came with it, use it as your controller! Go to Settings > Devices > Bluetooth. Try with your remote to forget all your known devices on your Ps4. (Click on a Dualshock and then get your hands on the options button to forget the Dualshock and all other Bluetooth devices connected) Now, I tried cable connecting, safe mode, reset and all that kind of solutions. Simple push the share button like 3 seconds, then the PS home button and it will flash 2 times very fast, bluetooth is now searching, aswell as your Ps4 does, and there it goes! Select it with your TV remote to Register. Now it has to be connected! Let me know!
This video was super helpful, thanks! I had 3 MicroUSB cables with me, but none of them were working. I've found in the past that for some reason, pairing only works with the original cable that came with the PS4 - annoyingly it looks just like any other USB cable so it's easy to misplace. I managed to use my TV remote to control the PS4 over HDMI-CEC, but when I put the controller into bluetooth pairing mode, it didn't show up. What worked for me was, I reset the controller with a sewing pin (don't know if this helped or not), then went to bluetooth devices and had it forget all the existing devices, and only then, when I put my controller into pairing mode, did it show up in the list of available devices. I think forgetting existing controllers was the key to fixing it. Hope this helps somebody.

Dang, I've tried all these things with my controller and it's still a no-go :( It's an older-style controller that'll only sync with my old PS4. For the life of me, I can't get it to sync with the PS4 Pro I upgraded to. Pretty sure it's cursed.
My power cable comes out of my ps4 whenever I move it and takes ages for me to put it in again at the right angle, is there a way I can stop that happening so easily
This happens when you play while charging. It will eventually bend the connector on the USB cord. It's not the controller, just buy a new micro USB cord. You should be able to find then for cheap since micro USB is being phased out for USB C.
Guys I know How to fix it only if you connected to a phone or something else you just need a other controller for you controller to connect to your ps4
My 5 different usb cables charge the controller, connects just fine to every other device (phone via bluetooth and pc via bluetooth and cables) but no matter what i try (reset button, reset in console, turning the console off and letting it sit for a while before retrying, etc), it wont connect to my ps4.. Only my really old broken controller (L1 and L2 are locked in place) connects fine, my two new controllers that aren't even a few months old refuses the actual console itself. The controllers blink like they are trying to connect but just wont with the console. What could be the cause of this? its not like the cables are broken or the controllers or the console's ports either. (side note: this only started happening with the controllers after i used them on different devices, worked fine on the console when i bought them, just havent used the console in a while)

Dang, I've tried all these things with my controller and it's still a no-go :( It's an older-style controller that'll only sync with my old PS4. For the life of me, I can't get it to sync with the PS4 Pro I upgraded to. Pretty sure it's cursed.
You need a real micro usb charger for example a Samsung cable. This happened to me before but when I used a Samsung cable it worked

Update! Using the method at 1:07 I got it to work using a charge/sync mini usb cable. It lives!

My power cable comes out of my ps4 whenever I move it and takes ages for me to put it in again at the right angle, is there a way I can stop that happening so easily
Youre probably using the wrong cable honestly, the one that comes with the console is a very snug fit
This happens when you play while charging. It will eventually bend the connector on the USB cord. It's not the controller, just buy a new micro USB cord. You should be able to find then for cheap since micro USB is being phased out for USB C.
I'm confused if he's talking about the power cable for the console or charging cable for the controller

The key was forgetting the existing dualshock that weren't being used. It then left room to pair new controller. THANK YOU!!

My joystick don't turn on even I press the PlayStation button 😭😭😭😭😭.
My 5 different usb cables charge the controller, connects just fine to every other device (phone via bluetooth and pc via bluetooth and cables) but no matter what i try (reset button, reset in console, turning the console off and letting it sit for a while before retrying, etc), it wont connect to my ps4..
Only my really old broken controller (L1 and L2 are locked in place) connects fine, my two new controllers that aren't even a few months old refuses the actual console itself. The controllers blink like they are trying to connect but just wont with the console.
What could be the cause of this? its not like the cables are broken or the controllers or the console's ports either. (side note: this only started happening with the controllers after i used them on different devices, worked fine on the console when i bought them, just havent used the console in a while)
