(Also I need to add, that I'm perplexed when people say that "young people don't want to work using their hands anymore" while I keep seeing young people just casually doing almost better job than professionals :D )
Young people don’t have the time to do that stuff. I have a full-time job, so I don’t have the energy and time to do renovation stuff myself. It’s just easier to pay someone to do it properly than me waste hours trying to do reno work only to find I did it wrong and have to start over.
@@magicianmana4 it was not meant as sarcasm at all, she did quite a lot of work in the house herself and there are other people doing the same without any previous training (e.g. Mia Maples)

Watching your house journey made me realize how miserable I was in my loud, cramped condo; it was really affecting my mental health and my work.
So I convinced my husband that we needed to move and we’re now in a quiet detached bungalow in a more elderly neighbourhood (not unlike yours). I’m so much happier now and can finally sleep.
I’m so inspired by your videos that I think I’m going to paint our bedroom sage green and get into gardening :P
(Also, I have pink crocs too haha)
I love how the wallpaper camouflages the facets of that area in the kitchen. Really united all the surfaces.
I was just at that part in the video too and I was like whoooooa that wallpaper does a lot to making the room look more uniform
Your kitchen looks fabulous, Lucy! The wallpaper is perfect and really ties everything together. Having been through a kitchen renovation myself, I know that feeling of realizing your vision and just loving the new space. It is glorious!
We are also in the middle of a massive kitchen renovation. It’s no fault of our contractor, but it’s been delayed by the cabinet makers. It will also be white, with some lighted glass cabinets. We built a temporary kitchen in our basement, but before that we were eating out of a microwave in the living room and washing dishes in the guest room shower. Every inch of our house is crammed with things that don’t belong there and there’s plaster dust EVERYWHERE. It’ll be beautiful……if it ever ends!!!
The wallpaper made such a huge difference!! It both made the space look bigger and more tied together, and made it so much more you!!! So happy for you that it's finally finished!!!

I love it! It’s so cute and cozy and charming. And the lemons are a pop of colour while being neutral enough to be timeless.
I LOVE the kitchen reno!! It's amazing and I totally agree it looks bigger. The lights, wallpaper and even the warmth of the wooden counter tops are so inviting and welcoming. My husband and I have done a couple of kitchen renovations in a couple of the homes we lived in, and it's a bear, but always worth it!! It is truly amazing to me that a room that has the same size can give totally different vibes depending on how it is put together. Enjoy that lovely kitchen!

Lovely just lovely.😊 Who knew lemon wall paper could look so perfect😉. You darling have the magic touch. The cozy vibes...the clean freshness. But still speaks of a lived in home. My sister always wanted her home to look like it fell out of a Better Homes magazine. That left it feeling cold, but not you. You have the gift of picking just the right things that bring the whole thing together in such a lovely way.

From someone who's installed several kitchens and spent a lot of time with caulking gun in hand (and caulking on hands and clothing too), well done. I usually use my finger to smooth it rather than a card or corner tool cause we're always working with wonky surfacs or trying to go around something that can't be moved..
The newspaper time capsule is fun, we find stuff like that sometimes, most recently while replacing a floor that can't have been there longer than 30 years, underneath the underlay on the original floorboards were a few pages of the local newspaper that we dated back to about 1940 by looking at what the movie theatre ads were! And since it was left for us, we covered it back up for the next person who has to redo that floor in another 20 years!
My kitchen has a sink on a short side like yours, and people kept sneaking up on me and scaring me while I was doing the dishes so I put a mirror up as a backsplash. Not only worth it to not hurt my neck turning around when someone startles me, but also it makes my tiny kitchen look bigger, and also gets a little more ligiht to the sink.
About the only thing they did right when they designed my original kitchen was to scatter split plugs everywhere, so I can run the kettle and the slow cooker at the same time on the same countertop without tripping the breaker.
This green cabinet is literally the perfect piece of furniture 😊

Hi, cozy friend! 🧡 I’ve been working on finishing up some WIPs I’ve had for a few months: a baby onesie, a clutch bag and a cardigan. I’ve made great progress this past weeks and I can’t wait to post the FOs on my Instagram! I’ve also been trying to put in a bit of work into my Salty days sweater so I can keep up with the KAL. 😬

Love the wall paper, the best part is that bump out at the window just disappears, where as before it stood out like a sore thumb. You are braver than me getting to the ceiling that’s one thing I can not do that, my fear of heights won’t let me get past the 2nd run on the ladder. This is the kitchen we were looking at doing, but now I have to look at only under bench storage as reaching up to the above head cupboards are just too high for me now.
I would have added a cornice on the cupboard and wall, but loved Roberts idea lol. I would love to get my teapots out of storage one day and put on display, specially the ones me Mom bought for me.

I think the wallpaper helps with the feel of the kitchen being bigger as well. Before the wallpaper, it felt like a hole in the wall, afterthought space. After wallpaper, it felt as if you had pushed the wall out a bit.

I’m surprised the contractor didn’t “finish” the drywall. You shouldn’t have had to caulk. They should have applied taped and mud. I’ve never seen a contractor leave out that step, unless the homeowner requested it, which you may have done.

The glass cabinet fronts and all the in-cabinet lighting make a BIG difference in the perceived kitchen size. I haven’t seen you in ages, so I didn’t know that you moved. 5:04 I wonder if that's an international thing and contractors are often unreliable in EVERY country. I live in a completely different part of the world yet it's a relatively common occurrence here, too.
