Dude I was sitting here pulling my hair because I couldn’t find out why my kick sounded so flat even with compression. I’ve been making beats for almost 8 years now and blows my mind I never thought about doing this. Appreciate it!
So dope bro i never never thought to limit the 808 afterwards for when the kick drops out...never even paid attention but yo yea I can hear the difference for real
Best side chain tutorial I’ve seen so far. A dope lil easy method and a very in depth straightforward tutorial with steps a lot of producers fail to mention. Liked and subbed G keel it up!
Thanks bro...finally someone explained it slow enough. you understood your teaching someone else an not just showing off showing it in lightspeed so thanks bro I'll now finally try sidechain on my own
Solid advice. I would just add that, you can pull up stock EQ2 and take the mids of your 808, so the kick can have more space + you can transpose a kick to an upper note (one semitone + watch a video on transposing on this channel). Bro beatz, can you maybe show us a method of how to listen to beats, when we want to reverse engineer someone else's beat? What do we listen for specifically, any methods, ideas, guidelines etc. Thanks in advance, and thank you for answering on insta dm! :D
Also wanna add that when mixing kicks and 808s you can also run into phase cancelling. So if you can't get it to punch and have the energy you want, even though your levels show that you are waking up the neighborhood, you are likely dealing with phase issues. Or could even be stereo is too wide (less likely since most do kick/808s in mono but who knows). If you are dealing with this and you are set on your sound selection then invert the kick! You can further kick presence by making a pocket it with eq but I would advise against do this minimal so you don't thin your 808. Also finding the perfect sample can take away alot of work! I get how it is when you really like something and wanna make it work.
Best tutorial by far . Easy and descriptive with examples. Bruh thanx man this video help me out a lot. Before this video my 808s was stressing me out . If u want u can hear the difference in my 808 from my first few beats to my newer beats on my channel but anyway thanx man . Keep making helpful videos. Definitely subscribing .
I would raise the limiter all the way right so the limiter wouldn’t mess with the compression but thats a pretty cool tip, i will try this approach on my next beat
Hey, do you know any plugins to change the envelope for the 808? I'm using studio one and I am able to when im using Mai Thai for my 808's but not for sample 808's?
Hey man, thank u for the video! I'm not making music for long time, so can u maybe explain, what was the purpose of turning up the gain and limit it with ceiling afterwards? I thought, u increase the kick volume with gain, but limit the 808 volumne with ceiling...is that right? Hope u read this, thank u in advance!
Quick Q @bro beatz could you save these values as a template on the limiter so that I can use it when I need it on another track or must I repeat this method every time I make a beat?
You can, but sidechaining gives you more head room in the end result. There’s plenty of mixes I had that were peaking about 3db higher before is sidechained
That only works with some kicks and some 808's. You can't get it as clean as with sidechain if the kick and 808 clash a lot. But like bro beatz said, whatever works for you

My 808s and kicks will never be that trash again after watching this
This is video is so helpful 🔥 ty
Shit was too helpful 🔥😮💨its all about that extra step that be making defining difference
I’m a bigger so sorry if this is a stupid question: when you sidechain on the channel mixer instead of fruity limiter can I use Kickstart?
Love this channel 🔥

mannnnn had to be the first ayooo
I can't believe I'm just now finding your channel. This is dope!
You're amazing for this one
Thanks cuzzo . Helped alot
goat tutorial again
If I'm correct, i dont need to use two limiters on the 808 for kick side chain. I could just used the one as limiter and comp?
Yup
@@BroBeatzTV coo good lookin 💯
you got the most usefull tutorials on internet

incredible, thank you
Brobeatz......... Thank you! That's all I have to say.
Thank you for this gem
Another fire tutorial! On another note, I ask you the same question as @Kaze PhD, can you make a tutorial on reverse engineering a track, please?
Its funny because i used to do reverse engineering vids when i first started but yeah i can
Dope Video bro even for a FL vet like me !!! Good Info great clarity
This helped me a lot man 👍🔥
Love for the community ❤
Very well explained thank you 🙏🏽
Tanks men from Portugal
I dont get any frequency shown in fruity limiter
grew up on these tutorials
Never thought of side chaing definitely gonna do it
any idea how to do sidechain distortion? to make specific (or all) audios to distort when 808s hit
Thank you so much 🙏🏾
You a real one 💯💯💯
THANK YOU BRO!!!!
I am no longer a mortal. Thank you
When I press the key it only plays one sound at a time either kick or 808 what ever one is highlighted how do you play them both at the same time ?
If anyone knows let me no thanks
Shiiit the thumbnail earned the view 😂🔥
yo thanks so much i had a problem with my 808 blurring out the kick because i put distortion and had tons of slides in the pattern. p.s. i just subbed
it won't let me sidechain when i go to comp
Thank you! 🙏🏼
the simplest explanation out there
Its tha Luck AAAHHHHHHH good stuff bro!

Om on fl now but man fl system is so harder to side chain than other daws way to many windows involve but I love the daw
man, your voice really nice
Sitting here fucking having a good time learning all this stuff!! Yay! Jumping around yelling chain chain chain!
do we have to know what does each component mean in the fruity limiter, such as what threshold does or ratio does and so on?
You just have to experiment with them and learn
Thanks a lot.
Ater I sidechain I can't hear my kick at all !! I can just hear 808 ? :/ help plzz
Thanks
Thx!!!!!
thatk youu this helped so much
thanks brother subbed
insane
do we need to sidechain for every beats
do on boom bap beat please from scratch :(
what does this helps for?
literally moaned when i pressed play on my result
Way better explanation
thanks bud
I'm on the 1st page number 6th thanks to you
great video
damn thanks mate
lmao why sidechain have so much methods? 😭😭
FIRST + can’t u just reverse polarity on kick and it sounds amazing without sodechain? Lemme kno if I’m wrong pls
If it works for you then sure but personally I wouldnt rely on it
You can, but sidechaining gives you more head room in the end result. There’s plenty of mixes I had that were peaking about 3db higher before is sidechained
That can also cause phase issues with different instruments
That only works with some kicks and some 808's. You can't get it as clean as with sidechain if the kick and 808 clash a lot. But like bro beatz said, whatever works for you
valium
Perfect
King your the man thanks
💯
Great tutorial!
You see how that increese the sound?😂😂😂
Once I side chain I can’t hear the 808 anymore please help
Well this aged well
do you think wondagurl uses this method?
bro the thumbnail... I thought this was somethng else
thought this was sway talking at first.
I wouldn't recommend sidechaining on the whole sound. Better do it using EQ, that way the 808 stays alive
enjoado o pae
i thought this video was on side kicks lol
