    5 years later and still rockin! My aux track for the kick to start the side chain process was messing me up and making the sound louder. I didn’t know what to do lol it was the output all along 🔥 thanks man

    So far none of the producers demo tracks used in their tutorials on mixing 808's have inspired much confidence in making good music. UNTIL YOURS. Finally someone get that the song should also be something you wanna bump. Not just a technical formality or obligation required to demonstrate their work flow. Cheers man, that track is fire.

    Damn that kick is knocking with this technique. I have been having trouble with finding that balance between the kicks and bass. I've heard of this technique before but kind of over looked it to be honest, but in this example it really shows how effective it can be.

    I'm listening a lot of your production all days for inspiration and i have notice that you have YOUR identity! YOUR sound!(my opinion) Simply special.
    One of my bigest problem in my beats are "choose the right bass".
    Can you maybe do a tutorial for this particulary problem?
    Thank you Sean

    You can tell the producer put overdrive on that kick. I personally don't like this at all it makes the kick peaky and stings it hurts imo and takes the thickness out. Great video man been binge watching the whole weekend lol.

  • @beatmachinegreen
    @beatmachinegreen 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great video! I'm working on mixing an entire project for a friend of mine and these videos help a lot. Question though.... would you have put a high pass filter on the sub bass and bass synth as well to clean the mix or would that not be really necessary? I find myself doing that but not sure if its making a big difference.

    • @SeanDivine
      @SeanDivine  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Jonathan Green glad to hear it man... depends on the sounds used. It's good to have some distortion or higher frequency info in the bass, so that you can still hear it on hi fi systems.

  • @TheYoskeland
    @TheYoskeland 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Sean would you please explain how to sidechain just a segment of a track? Thx

  • @jreaper5000000
    @jreaper5000000 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    it would be good if you did a track from start to finish. showing the process from start to finish. even the guy rapping to the woman or guy doing the chorus. to how you mixed the whole thing together AND mastered it at the end. that would be a cool video. instead of in bits with different tracks. cause how you do the effects on one beat wont work for another beat so to speak. it will really teach people a basic way of working. thanks greatly though for your love of doing this out of the kindness of your heart. God is great in you.

  • @9lifeheightsmusic848
    @9lifeheightsmusic848 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Have you ever put the kick in binaural mode and set it down the middle? Its still mono but it really creates clarity and punch on the kick. Set the angle at 0 and spread at 0 and you’ll see the pan nob turn green with a line straight down the middle meaning mono.

    • @SeanDivine
      @SeanDivine  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      right, if you're using a kick with stereo info that would be the same as setting the output to mono

    Very helpful vid! Thank you for making this. I have a question about mixing snares. I noticed you have 7 tracks for snare in this mix. Do you normally have these many snare tracks? What's your typical approach of layering snares?

    • @SeanDivine
      @SeanDivine  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes! I almost always layer snares. It's a big part of my production style and I try to layer sounds that give the snare more impact, width and texture.

  • @oulcan2459
    @oulcan2459 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hello Sean! Dived into your channel recently and already watched a lot of your videos. Thanks for all the stuff. I have a question about your sidechain method. I saw that you did send your kick to a bus first. What happens instead you just put a compressor and select the kick track from the sidechain menu? That's what I've been doing for a while now. Is there a purpose for creating a bus with no output?

    • @SeanDivine
      @SeanDivine  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      no, LPX hasn't always been able to select any track for a sidechain input, so it's just out habit :)

  • @YXNGNESS
    @YXNGNESS 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    are higher rations better for compression? or what would you recommend when sidechaing. i noticed you have auto gain on as well ?
