  • You've heard of Game & Watch, but what about Game Watch? Back in the old days, Nelsonic released a series of wristwatches with LCD games built in, and we just got our hands (or wrists?) on a whole mess of them. What are they like? How do they work? Let's find out!

I still have my Black Zelda watch. I loved it as a kid and played it constantly! I was really very good at it back then 😃
I tried playing it again a few months ago, and like you, I couldn’t figure out how to play it 😆 I did eventually find the manual online, but I haven’t gotten back to it since 🤪

It's such a weird game, but I always wanted one when I was a kid. Such a fascinating little oddity!

@@stoneagegamer let me say, as a kid I loved it and I’m sure my parents did as well as it kept me quiet for long periods of time lol

I had pac man... the battery would only last about a month... then it broke and that was that. Kinda miss it. But finding those things were very difficult. The official Nintendo lcds were only at a grocery store called Thrifties back in Los Angeles during the 80s. Never could find any of this stuff at toysrus or kb toys etc. Still have my Mario Bros cement factory lcd to this day.

Nice! I'm pretty sure the only place I ever saw these watches when I was a kid was at some weird kiosk in the mall. I wanted one back then so badly.

Do they tell time also? Feel it should not have been hard to add a time mode...

They do, in fact, tell time.

I never had any myself until I was much older. Was always jealous of the kids I knew who had them.

I also agree that these have been ignored by even the most diehard gamers out there and they need to be emulated so they can be preserved and remembered for future generations 👏

They do. I have a nintendo Game and Watch emulator. Those are worth emulating. These are the equivalent of tiger trash for the most part.

@@EatMe420 Sure there are a lot of Nintendo "Game & Watch" ROMs and emulators out there. Yet I have not seen any Nelsonic "Game Watch" ROMs and emulators as this is the subject of the video. If that is what you meant, can you let me know what the rom files are called so I can try and search for them? TH-cam will hide any URLs in the comments.

Right. As far as I know there is no emulation for the Nelsonic watches. There are great Game & Watch emulators for sure, but these watches are a pretty different animal, as far as I can tell. Hopefully someone cracks that egg soon!
