SAG Podcast 512: Sonic the Hedgehog - No Brainer
มุมมอง 6314 วันที่ผ่านมา
On this week’s podcast, Dan and Kris climb aboard the SAG Cartoon Express to discuss another classic Sonic the Hedgehog episode, but not THAT Sonic the Hedgehog show. The OTHER Sonic show that was airing at the same time, which was just called Sonic the Hedgehog. Not confusing at all! Anyway, the episode was called No Brainer, and it certainly was an episode of a TV show. But was it better than...

SAG Podcast 511: What Games Came Out in April 1984, 1994, 2004, and 2014?
มุมมอง 7821 วันที่ผ่านมา
On this week’s podcast, Dan and Kris dive into what can only be described as the most unbelievably dull 10-20-30-40 in the show’s history. That is, of course, until they get to the 30, where both the Super NES and Sega Genesis had some absolutely stellar months featuring the likes of Streets of Rage 3, King of Dragons, and Super Metroid. But just how bland were the rest of the decades? Did the ...

SAG Podcast 510: Was Game Boy Advance Better Than Super NES?
มุมมอง 111หลายเดือนก่อน
On this week’s podcast, Dan and Kris tackle a listener request that’s a much tougher question to answer than it might seem. Which console’s library was better? The Super NES or the Game Boy Advance? I like how the add says ‘almost live digital sound’ and ‘characters can grow or shrink in size’ So it’s no wonder that i did believe that the snes could do CD quality audio because of somebody from the nintendo service just told me that, i also troughtv that it could also do sprite scaling,BUT nope because 1,most games only uses syntheses music and all those sound samples are heavily compressed, cut and stretched into little pieces, And secondly, the snes cannot do sprite scaling, it can only dp scale 1 background at low resolution and it cannot split and rotate each part individually and not execute such scaling in front of other backgrounds either,no, So no matter how much i still do like the snes, nno matter how much fond memories i do have from that system, i simply just can’t denie that founding out that turned out to be not so powerful as they wanted you to believe will always leave a bitter taste in my mouth.
Well, that was the console wars for you. They were a silly time indeed. I mean, the term "blast processing" was effectively meaningless! But as a kid, I didn't know what all that stuff meant. All I cared about was that the games looked cool, sounded awesome, and were a heck of a lot of fun to play.
@@stoneagegamerme too in 1994, i didn’t care aslong as the games were fun and having cool audio and cool visuals, It’s not untill 2001 that i really did took care about the specs of a system to be better, Now about that blast processing slogan from sega was not so offactually because that processor was actually slightly faster then the cpu inside the snes.
Love the Mario pinball tables! I’ve witnessed the smaller ticket based table just once at an arcade auction. Sadly it and the rest of the machines went for stupid prices.
I've only played the larger table, but I've seen the small one! They're fascinating!
Excellent video as always, Kris! This channel should be much bigger, you do really great work. There are some of us out here that really appreciate your hard work.
That's very kind of you to say. Thanks!
man I really need one of these. my old 360 controller is on its last legs
I had a similar experience with KOTOR a couple of years ago on Steam. It was cheap, so why not. What a mess. This was fun how? Glad I never bought it back in the day. I think I even got a refund for whatever the super low price was. I'm getting old and my time is too precious to waste on that kind of crap. I can only tolerate so many menus before I'm seeing red.
THANK YOU! So glad I'm not alone.
And it's now on the Switch
It is!
Not in Stock as of 5/17/2024
Yeah, we keep asking about them making more of these, but we haven't had any luck. We haven't given up though!
That sega X-men danger room theme - you can practically smell the farts from that music. But I agree - SNES X-men was an absolute treat. Still holds up well today. Sega x-men was a chore to play. I mean Cyclops has a freaking meter to use his optic blast - his whole shtick is that he can’t stop the constant floods of optic blasts!!!
THE CROWD HAS SPOKEN--YOU HAVE TO REPLAY CLONE WARS WITH A 90s MENTALITY AND REDO THIS
make sure to play with a friend too
SOLD! This will be revisited as soon as I can. Hopefully before season 2 of '97 starts.
My Colecovision Power Supply is the Power Brick style like the XBox 360 or XBox One and not a Wall Wart type power supply, but the cords going into and out of the power brick are hard wired like the Wii Power Supply so it does not take up more than one outlet.
Yeah.... this wasn't a fair fight, you've should have done Clone Wars.
Agreed. I plan on coming back around to this someday. I suspect after I actually put some time into Clone Wars the outcome will be pretty different. Thanks for watching!
@@stoneagegamer No problem, I will be waiting on that episode.
Ya know, I was about to get irritated by this obviously skewed comparison until I realized that there is nothing that can touch X-Men Clone Wars from this era. Mutant Apocalypse is the most bland XMen game ever IMO and I give it a shot every few years. I want to like it because an XMen game using Megaman X engine should be awesome, but I find it completely forgettable honestly. The first Gen XMen was at the very least diversifying gameplay with "summons" and resource management with Wolvie's claw mechanics. That and the "reset moment" put even the first Gen game ahead of SNES for me.
That's understandable, and I should have made it more clear in the video but this is 100% just my opinion. I plan on revisiting this one in the future to pit Mutant Apocalypse against Clone Wars, and I suspect the outcome will be quite different. Thanks for watching!
I know I'm in the same age range as this guy, and the fact he's still pitting SNES vs Genesis is hilarious because I do the same shit haha
It never gets old!!! Seriously, as long as it's all in good fun, it can be such a fun experiment. I was absolutely a Nintendo kid, and in my old age I'm learning that there was a ton of great Genesis stuff I missed out on. I'm sure future videos will reflect that more. Thanks for watching!
You really should've compared Mutant Apocalypse with Clone Wars. The sequel to the Genesis game improves pretty much everything, on top of it having couch co-op, which to me is a massive plus.
Yeah, I plan on revisiting this for a rematch in the future. I just need to actually spend some time playing Clone Wars first. I suspect that matchup will have a much different outcome.
Beasts song on the SNES game is amazing!
This would have been a much more fair comparison if it was clonw wars on genesis..
Well, the first one is the one I knew growing up so it’s definitely the one more closely associated with the Genesis.:)
Yeah, I'll probably do another one eventually comparing it with Clone Wars.
MY SENTIMENTS, YOU COMPARED A FEATHER WEIHT TO A HEAVY WEIGHT BIG DAWG
Great video. Subbed 😎 See you on the next one
Thank you very much!
Super nes game was much better.
This version even had a feature where it would monitor your heart rate and change the speed of the game
Instructions unclear my console is now pregnant
🥵
Orange not Arenge. How hard is it to pronounce words correctly?
local man finds out about accents and dialects
Shut up bro 😂

That console got violated😭
couldnt you just do this with any cartridge

Kris recommending Switch games is my weakness, dammit
Why is it so expensive? It clearly shouldn’t cost that much to manufacture them
I've had that game for years and this is the first I heard about the spin move
Oh man, I love the 1Up Card stuff! I was skeptical at first however the material on the cards is more abrasive (in a good way) vs. just a cotton q-tip so the card cleans the pins very well.
I just got mine this week for N64. So far, I like it a lot. If you're using Xbox controllers, you'll need to update them to the latest firmware before connecting to BlueRetro. Mine initially would not connect, but they did after updating.
Add rumble function and I’ll buy 4 of them. Just saying.
Showed Rowch the review, peaked his interest, just bought it. you did it sir!
Glad to hear it!
Gods it was good
It really was!
Does it work with games like banjo tooie? My game is not in the best of shape and it's only a matter of time before it dies on me completely. Can I use this to transfer my old file into a new cartridge?
If you're talking about game saves, then yes. This is a memory card. It won't allow you to transfer a game to a new cartridge though, if that's what you're asking.
The only thing bad about this cart is it is RGB only what about composite or Svid. Almost all CRT TV’s don’t have RGB.
I don't think clear visuals was an issue lol. Pretty sweet device though
I just bought one of these from you guys, it’s amazing! Love that it comes with Vikki & Rikki too, what a great and impressive game for the 7800! The homebrew scene really gets the most out of this flash cart with all the enhanced sound games 👌
Glad you like it!
When using the HD Retrovision cables, should the brightness switch be in the high or low position? The low position seems more correct visually, but I wanted to ask.
Not sure there's a "correct" answer to this one. You should use whichever one looks better to you.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! I purchased mine from Stone Age Gamer and I have to say that it is probably the best purchase I have made this year!
Glad you're enjoying it!
you just gonna completely gloss over the insane stuff left in the code of this game? now that's the real tragedy here
That code stuff is umm... fascinating? But wasn't really relevant to the video.
@@stoneagegamer but it's also fucking hilarious, meaning it's always relevant. …also this was a joke. i know sarcasm doesn't read clearly in text, but i think it's really obvious i'm making a joke. this isn't an actual criticism of your video.
Dude I thought that thing was the size of a coffee table book for a minute
Same!
Now I want an enormous, coffee table sized Atari 7800...
I thought exactly the same 😂. Forced perspective is crazy.
That would be incredible 😂
That looks awesome the 7800 was a great system.
It was!
TV's don't have RGB here in the States.....can you use the Component inputs?
HD Retrovision makes an active cable that takes Genesis RGB and outputs component.
@@jasonlane01 Yes. Component Cables will do the job.
Component is essentially RGB and has very comparable quality to SCART RGB. The HD Retrovision cables are what I use, then I run it through a Retrotink 5X and the clarity on my modern TV is absolutely stunning! There’s even a blending setting on the cart so that games like Tower Toppler that would otherwise look weird in HD blend the colors correctly and give off the intended look for the 3D effect. Highly recommended!
Can the atair 2600 one be played on the Hyperkin retron 77
No, this unit won't work on a Retron 77.
Would 8BitMods add Game Boy Transfer Pak emulation to the BlueRetro adapter sometime in the future? I'll bet certain Pokémon Stadium players couldn't wait to get their hands on the product when it becomes a reality.
I need a job so I can grab one of these!
Man I miss being able to play online!! I love this game so much, so many memories man! I still play to this day, just with the dopples... 😅
This was a much better game than most people gave it credit for.
Does the 7800GD work with larger ROM images that the Concerto cart currently can't handle?
I can attest that it does. The included Vikki and Rikki is maybe the largest of them all due to the music, but others ones I’ve tested like 1942 and E.X.O. work just fine here (and of course on original cart) but are too large to work elsewhere
Id love to buy a set for my ps2 but theyre all out of stock!
The 7800GD... It's a game changer, literally! 😁 Highly recommend.
