    I installed the SRE4000 MORryde suspension and wet shackles on my Cedar Creek 38CKTS. In order to do so, I too removed the OEM Dexter Easy-Flex suspension and shackles. Immediately upon leaving the MORryde factory in Elkhart, IN I crossed a RR track and could instantly tell how smoothly the MORryde suspension handled the crossing. MORryde makes the finest accessories in the trailer industry. I highly recommend MORryde components.

    We have these on a 30’ Winnebago travel trailer. We swapped out the original 4400 lb axles and springs, because of the cheesy 3500 lb wheel bearings, and went with 6000 lb axles with bigger 12” brakes. We replaced everything from the hangars on down, we just got back from. 1700 mile trip. We were told we didn’t need shocks with this system. We misjudged a turn and had to roll over a high median with one side of the trailer and the added travel of these equalizers allowed us to do so without damaging anything. Great video.

    I've had these on my 5th wheel for the past year and they have made a huge difference in how smooth the trailer pulls, but also with how I can generally leave non-fragile items in place like on the counter of the kitchen and it doesn't move in transit. That tells me that much of the shock of the terrible lippert leaf spring design is not being imparted on the structure of my 5th wheel. I will say that these are wear items. The rubber bushings do wear and separate from the metal housing overtime. Keep an eye on that. I've got about 10,000 miles on mine now and they sag a bit. I plan to reach out to Morryde to see about a warranty replacement, that said, they are still worth every penny, and I've heard Morryde's customer service is outstanding. Also, when I do replace them I intend to get a set of those safejacks. I did mine with scissor jacks and cribbing. Not safe.

    I have a pair of these 6500# Husky jacks bolted to the rear frame of my 94 Class C Tioga Arrow for leveling and stability.
    Over built? You bet they are! Granted my Arrow is the big boy at 32 feet; and mounted as far back as possible; with a cordless drill, when the jacks are over half extended....they stretch my suspension with ease to level out.
    At one favorite campsite; (due to the terrain) with custom wood ramps the bumper of my rig is over 3 feet off the ground and solid as a rock. (The rear wheels are NOT off the ramps/ground btw.)

    I know this video is older, I see everyone upgrading the spring components , but not the springs themselves. I have had 2 spring failures on my Autumn Ridge 32 RKS . They both snapped clean, up near the shackle one last year and the passenger side this year. I Had the rated axles for the trailer. A crazy experience when an axle shifts after a spring snaps going down the highway at 70 m ph. Then trying to deal with on side of highway. I have pics

    Looks like a great upgrade but my 5 ft 2 in. "structurally challenged" wife might not appreciate the 1&1/2 rise height increase. I have move to a class A but we often meet-up with friends who own a fifth wheel and I will show this video to them. John's only complaint is that he wished the fifth wheel had a better suspension.

    An much easier way to use the jack is to get a copper or alum. tube, put it on the jack handle and then use. Gives you much more leverage and it's easy to jack up.

    I installed the SRE-4000 on my Alpine fifth wheel and have been very happy with the performance over the rough roads in Alaska and the Top of the World highway. My question is are you happy with the Joy Rider shocks in combination with the SRE-4000? When I purchased the SRE-4000 MorRyde advised against adding shocks but I can see no reason other than the travel of the SRE-4000.

    • @BigTruckBigRV
      @BigTruckBigRV  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I love the SRE4000s, but do not care for the shocks. They really don't have enough dampening ability to effect such a heavy trailer.

    • @davidwaddell4550
      @davidwaddell4550 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BigTruckBigRV I was wondering if they had enough stroke to handle the 4" of the SRE-4000. I had my tires balanced when the unit was new but had a bent axle that was replaced by Lippert. I now have signs of balance problems and think a proper shock system would help. BTW MorRyde said not to use shocks.

      Big Truck Big RV you know I was wondering about the husky jack you had under as well. Those seam to be just stabilizing jacks to me not sure I would have trusted those. I put the cre 3000 on my travel trailer this spring and we noticed a difference in how the camper rides for sure. A bit smother for sure. As it turned out I wound up replacing all the bushings and did the shackles as well. I used the brass bushings but the standard shackles for now. I’ll be going to the wet bolt kit eventually.

    QUESTION ON SUSPENSION: Last summer we bent the driverside rear axle on our travel trailer, which threw off the camber. When noticed, the tire was worn out. Had the frame shop to align, they said potholes likely caused the bend. Is there an aftermarket kit that could help avoid this from happening again?

      I absolutely LOVE this setup! Everything you noted in your video was exactly right. The install took me about 3 hours for the suspension. I found a bad brake from the factory, so I upgraded all 4 to the self adjusting brakes and repacked the bearings while I was there. I have not added any shock absorption system yet. The Sailun tires are awesome, and my new Champion 18k hitch is perfect. With all these upgrades, my rig is tighter than ever and so smooth. The only noise I have now is the slight rattle from my truck box lid, lol! Thanks for all the advice.

    I know this is a bit older but I was looking at these equalizers and came across this video.
    What concerns me with this equalizer system is body lean in curves at hi way speed.
    With the conventional equalizer you only have the springs pushing the RV body to roll in a curve. With this setup you now have the springs AND the equalizer trying to roll the RV.

      Depends on how rough those miles are. I would imagine at least 30k if not more

    How does it do around corners, mountain bends. Flex is good but it'll add more side to side sway, unless you add an anti sway bar. How much sway does it add, and do you think a sway bar is necessary for those of us who travel through mountain country?

    • @BigTruckBigRV
      @BigTruckBigRV  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Evolution Glitch: I honestly don't know how much of an effect sway would have with the new suspension. I do know that it is standard on many Fifth Wheels that approach $100k

    Hey Big Truck Big RV, Ive been an avid subscriber of yours for a while, and have made some buying decisions based on your information/videos. My questions for you is this: Is their a ride or quality difference between the dexter EZ flex, and the Moryde 3000 or just branding? I’m upgraded my Grand design from a standard rigid equalizer. Will the trailer chuck and bounce on my hitch noticeably less? Thanks for your time

    • @BigTruckBigRV
      @BigTruckBigRV  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Morryde system does provide a significant amount of movement vs the EZ Flex. The EZ Flex in my opinion is the more robust of the two products however. I would not do the shock absorbers though. They simply do not have the dampening power to really make a difference.

      Big Truck Big RV Thankyou. I should e to apologize, the dealer is installing “road armor” not the Moryde 3000 or 4000. Not sure if this a decent product. What’s your take on Weslake tires? Do you think I should have my wheels balanced as well?

      we originally used blocks and one broke under the load. Caused a dangerous situation. Steel is the way to go brother

      Don't think he meant concrete blocks. That's just asking for trouble. Blocks or railroad ties acting as cribbage. I need to do something like this with my 95 Holiday Ramble but probably air ride since it has and older style Moryde system and not leaf springs.

      I agree with the jack stands. You could have rented heavy duty jack stands from any equipment rental company. Safety first! That is an OSHA requirement in a commercial setting. Just saying! Great video however and I agree on the Morryde as a great choice.

    your jack technique needs work the only good thing you did was connect to the truck to minimize fore and aft movement that is assuming that the truck parking brake was applied and at least one wheel was chocked fore and aft. There is obviously no wheel chocks on other side of trailer being used as they should be. The scissor jacks have limited strength against lateral motion as they are fully extended. the easier way to lift and safely work on is to use one jack (floor preferably) under an axle which will immediately raise the chassis since the suspension is "pre-loaded" raise the frame to a sufficient height then use jack stands on frame then lower the hydraulic jack transfer the weight onto the jack stands and hang or unload the axle. this technique is safer as the jack is never extended to such a great length
