I just heard Bill Medley tell a funny story about Elvis. They were both playing Vegas multiple night engagements. One night during Bill’s show, Elvis thought it would be funny to bring his entourage and walk across the stage during Bill’s big number. So he does it just as Bill is hitting his big note, and as he passes him he touches his shoulder and says “hey Bill” and his group all walks across the stage and leaves. The crowd goes wild. The next night Bill’s show is totally sold out because everybody is hoping Elvis will show up again. Sure enough, Elvis shows up with his mafia in tow and does the same thing just to mess with Bill. So Bill waits until they leave the stage and he says “I don’t know who that guy is, but he’s really starting to piss me off”😂

Your point is well made but fortunately we do not need to choose one or the other - we can have both, or favorite parts of both. Good music is still being made. I’m 64 years old so much of it is unfamiliar but I enjoy finding a ‘new to me’ artist. Spoon is an example of having released quite a bit of music in the past 10 years that I like. Undoubtedly, they have used technology to enhance things. It’s now more or less what we demand of artists IMHO.
@@MC-fv4vv This was a time period when culturally "the Establishment" or the dominant culture shown on TV was finally changing in all kinds of ways (due in part to the Baby Boom post-war starting to hit their rebellious age and ignoring past prejudices). It was the blend of those 2 different vocals is what made the Righteous Brothers unique in the music they sang. Each vocal complimented the other.

I love this song, and thanks to Top Gun, it was semi popular among most guys who watched that movie growing up. At a choir competition when I was in HS (1994) a guy decided he and a few boys were going to serenade a girl while we were waiting. Well, you start singing at a choir event, and everyone who can, usually will join. In a moment of group Hysteria which only happens in movies, around 40 guys started harmonizing and adding background vocals. No clue who was the focus, no one could see above all the guys at first. When we hit the line 'get down on my knees' every guy in unison spontaneously dropped to one knee gesturing in the direction everyone was facing... allowing everyone to see the girl sitting on the table with the lead guy holding her hand. She was beat red, how we didn't stop laughing was beyond me. It was fantastic. Just wanted to share.
I was in high school when this came out and it was a huge hit for years. We listened to Wolfman Jack broadcasting on "pirate radio" from Mexico. Perfect for rebel teens in SoCal and he played all the songs about teenage love late at night. We'd be sitting in our cars in our favorite parking spots with our girls on a Saturday night listening to this.
Ok, I have always loved this song. However, I have never appreciated it more than right now after seeing this video. It has to be at least 50 years old. WOW!
