Elvis grew up in the projects and in a black church! He stole nothing! He was raised in the ghetto and he had a great appreciation for the black communities. He sang so many great songs and one was called “In the Ghetto”! He was very patriotic and you should listen to “An American Trilogy” live in Hawaii 1973! Absolutely awesome! Gail

Stop trying to get people to like him and making him sound like a Liberal. He did not "grow up in the projects or "ghetto". He grew up dirt poor and his Strong Christian Values taught him to Love Everyone.
He incorporated his own style of music mixing Country, Rhythm and Balls, etc to for his own style. He was a Trend setter in his clothing g style and people were influenced by him.
Besides being able to sing all style of music ( country, gospel, blues, pop, rock n roll , rockabilly, etc., he was very patriotic .
Let people love him for his music, kindness and love of God. But please do not make him look like a beta Liberal.

He actually refused to play huge venues in the south that didn't want him to bring his backup singers. I live in Elvis' hometown and grew up next to his cousin. When Elvis would ride his motorcycle down from Memphis to Tupelo to visit family and pull into Mr. Harold Ray's, I'd run over and beg Elvis for a ride. I was around 3 years old and only knew he was the sweet man who took me for ice cream and sang to me. I can remember him asking my mother to take me riding. She wasn't happy, but Elvis would put on that grin and say, I can't tell her no. You need to listen to "In the Ghetto," by Elvis. The more things change, the more things stay the same unfortunately.

Elvis anyone who knows his real history would not say he stoled their music. Elvis was humble and his gospel music could make you cry. You should hear him sing “ In the garden”. The man could lift your soul with his renditions of gospel songs. Those you know he really felt his music. The man was really really religious.

A black man taught Hank Williams, Sr how to play a guitar. The Elvis performance of How Great Thou Art, live in 1972 is a must watch. th-cam.com/video/9tg-dcj9w4k/w-d-xo.html Nobody sang gospel better than Elvis because he lived it from an infant. Elvis LOVED gospel. He would keep his musician and entourage up all night after shows, just singing gospel. Someone asked him once why he just didn’t switch and do gospel full time. Elvis said because there were too many people dependent on his career for their own paychecks. And there is that myth that Elvis faked his death. Someone asked his ex wife Pricilla that if Elvis really were alive, what would he be doing? She said, preaching the gospel.

This boy was from Tupelo, Mississippi so he grew up singing in church and listening to the brothers of color and LOVED it! When you get a chance look up his first producer, Sam Phillips of Sun Records in Memphis. Sam WANTED to find a combination of the Black Delta music and a white kid. Sam gave all sorts of huge stars their start. Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, etc. Big piece of music history there. When you’re in Memphis, you can still tour the original studio with the museum and the original mics, etc.

I am so glad to see you younger people FINALLY discovering Elvis. Having been a fan for over 50 years, let me say this: God created the world in 7 days. On the 8th day, he created Elvis. God was showing off his best work that day. This man is not a result of mere genetics, God did this. His Gospel is unsurpassed. May I suggest: How Great Thou Art, Without Love, Where Did They Go Lord, Only Believe, You Gave Me A Mountain (from his Hawaii tour). Also, Just Pretend, Danny Boy, Amazing Grace. The list goes on. This is the greatest voice of any century. Enjoy and let me know if you want more suggestions. Try and look for live performances and also rehearsals of Gospel. He takes you to church with his gospel. His voice can do anything. His best ballad by far is Tomorrow Never Comes. Enjoy.
