@@thespian302 cause the church that feeds them is across the street.. How do you think they survive? They get free food and their disability checks feed their drug habit for two weeks. So they are constantly going thru withdrawals. Hense, their zombie status. N.y.c. is spending $900,000 a day to house illegal aliens.. The city has about another year and wow watch how broke the city go's and then property taxes are gonna jump 300%. Then the exodus of people out of n.y. triple what it is now... no way. The modern architecture from Japan is the way to go. LED displays, neon lights and some geometry. That's the future, and it's essentially what we have now.

Hopefully they are able to capture the essence of what was the original penn station which was a marvel of design and engineering. It was a grand hub for the people instead of a brutalist network of dingy hallways.

PLEASE do this! The demolition of the old Penn Station began 40 years before I was born so I never got to see it but I've been dreaming for so long to be able to experience the beautiful original Penn Station after having seen pictures. The Moynihan Train Hall is great but a rebuild of the original Penn Station would be much better.
My father took me to Penn Station to see it once before they took it down. I miss him and the old station.

People seem to forget the first too iterations of Grand Central were also demolished, yet there was no outcry back then

Madison Square Garden’s lease with NYC expires in June 2023. There’s a lot of uncertainty around the future of MSG but the cost to relocate the arena will be at least 8 BILLION DOLLARS (per the NY Post).

As allways, we the people. That's why we pay taxes.
Thing is this. The original Penn Station was made by railroad tycoons from the late 19th century. We obviously live in a very different time now, where governments own and operate a near-complete majority of America’s railroads. We taxpayers would pay for it, but I won’t lie, even as someone who’s generally pretty conservative, I would not be upset if my tax dollars and train fares went to rebuilding the original Penn Station.
it cost the PRR nearly $30 million to build the station in 1910. Thats an insane amount of money for that time. It only took White Star $3 Million to build the Titanic.

The old roman architecture does not look nearly as good as the modern LED based architecture we see all over train stations in Japan and South Korea. This is the future, not whatever was done in the past. Not to mention, where are you putting the Garden? It's already in the greatest location for a sports arena in the world, right in the center of 34th street's entertainment district.
The public comments regarding this subject seem to disagree with your opinion. At any rate, Penn Station was an icon of American culture and architecture, just as Grand Central and the Chrysler Building are; it is not "whatever was done in the past." Madison Square Garden has been demolished, moved and rebuilt numerous times; Madison Square Garden is far more replaceable in comparison to Penn Station, the demolition of which is widely considered among the most senseless and backward in American history.

@@Atmostyx agree. People think that the future looks like flashy glass skyscrapers but it's an artificial idea of what the future means.
Frankly, roman architecture looks much better and has withstood the test of time in European cities that based how their cities looked inspired by ancient Rome.
