Ideally it would be spectacular if they could rebuild the old Penn station with a modernized transit plan but that's the most difficult of the solutions. Even if just 2 Penn could be sold to Amtrak from Vornado, they could knock down that monstrosity, rebuild the old Penn waiting room complete with 150 foot high ceilings and a beaux arts interior but widen and expand the floor to ceiling space under msg, also creating a beautiful, opulent design with Corinthian columns and custom marble, etc right under the arena! Sounds crazy but everyone would be happy to an extent if they did that!

Tax payers wouldn’t, baring the brunt of the monstrous cost of such a project as private developments probably won’t cover the $20B needed for the current plan let alone probably nearly $100B a rebuild would plus whatever it’ll cost to pay off James Dolan probably somewhere upwards of $500B, your enthusiasm suggests you don’t live in NYC or don’t pay taxes.

This is NYC, pretty much all homeless people live in shelters. You don't have the same issues as California. The stations will be clean and well maintained.

This is just a band-aid solution. No matter how many plazas you build, MSG still dominates the vast majority of the space, and this plan does nothing to improve the actual train station. Beautifying Penn Station is only half of what needs to be done. ReThinkNYC's plan gives us the through-running that we need, as well as bringing back the original, which is far more beautiful than this scam.

I understand that they need a station, ASAP, but why do the cheapest option (aka the band-aid solution) which will still cost billions, when you could instead, do the permeant Ideal station such as rebuilding the original with modern features and updated capacity etc. it will cost more yes, but you'll have a station for generations to come and never having to change or redesign a facade again! my point to drive it home is, don't go for the cheapest, go for what's gonna last and help/impact the city for the next millennium. build something worthy for the American people!

They did a couple phases. Penn station is huge. The LIRR hub and Moynihan Train Hall are done. Now the Subway and Metro North need to get done
