  • This walk takes in the two Munros Stob Coir'an Albannaich and Meall nan Eun which are located in the middle of the Glen Etive range. The starting point is the same as Ben Starav where we break upwards onto the hill after a short distance. A great weather day with full panoramic views, just doesn't get much better than this.

    Hi Charlie, I've been watching your posts here in Sydney for 4 years or so, and now look forward to watching your latest posts more than any other Scottish hillwalking channel. You give a perspective over the landscape that no one else really offers: you take time to pan around which is a blessing for someone like me who is so far away from these mountains. Hopefully I'll be returning to Britain in a few years, but for now, please keep up with your outstanding channel as I'll be waiting for every new episode!
    Much love for you and your brother,
    Andy B

    Must've missed this 10 months ago. 😉 Did these 2 today so watched this last night. That's what I like about your vids Charlie, search a walk on YT & up you pop. Great reference tool. Thought about your approach up towards Stob Coir 'An Albannaich, but took the track up the Glen instead. Prob should've went your way up high with views straight away. Cheers.

    I finished my last Munro in 1996, and now a pensioner just have nothing like your fitness Charlie. However, your videos are outstanding, and in top definition. It is almost if I am there and reliving memories from the past. There must be some award for you and your colleagues for outstanding cinematography. They are free from sensationalism, just a simple down to earth commentary in a video that captures the atmosphere and ambience of this magnificent country.
    PS. When I walked the Blackmount (took two days with a bivvy), there were loads of Ravens. Are they still there.

    • @charliemccartney7055
      @charliemccartney7055  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Malcolm, Many thanks for your comments. Its is always our intention to capture the walk and everything associated with the day rather than talk to the camera for extended periods. It then gives the viewer a resource they could refer too for future walks. I'm not sure about the Ravens at the Blackmount as I've not been in that area for a while. I'll be surprised if they aren't still there. Cheers, Charlie.

      Hi Neil, When the weather is like this you just can’t fail. The camera tends to flatten the landscape as the actual views are more dramatic and in your face… just great. Many thanks for watching. Cheers Charlie.

    Another great video. We were up there yesterday too, climbing Ben Starav as a single Munro. It was a wonderful day, and during the day became much warmer. It's a glorious place, marred only by lunatic driving on the single track roads. Some people I've met up there have suggested doing the 5 together, which strikes me as a bit longer a day than would be enjoyable. Anyway thanks again.

      Hi Murdo, It was a busy Glen yesterday and the majority appeared to be heading for Starav. We only saw another three walkers all day which is always nice. The road is crazy, we passed thirty+ cars going down the Glen when heading for home with no chance of parking or getting off road. It’s such a honeypot area. Cheers, Charlie

The midge hasn’t been as bad as normal with the temperature is down but they’ll be back very soon. Many thanks for continuity to view our outings and hopefully we’ll have another walk planned for tomorrow. Cheers, Charlie

    This brings back memories. Did SCaA have a trig point in 1986? An eagle was on the highest bit as I approached through deep snow. It leapt and clipped the cornice with its wingtips as it departed. On the way to MnE, I glissaded down a rake and carelessly got out on to the slabs you mentioned. They were icy and chipping steps with my walkers axe to get into the next rake down felt like one of the most dangerous situations I have been in on a Munro. A great hill, though.

    • @charliemccartney7055
      @charliemccartney7055  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello, Not sure about the dated trig point but there certainly isn’t any evidence of one now. SCaA needs a bit of care in the winter and we had a similar winter experience getting off the hill down to the col with the snow being a bit more vertical for comfort. Happy days… Many thanks for watching. Cheers, Charlie.

    How did the impact of the hydro schemes have on the landscape in your opinion & on the existing paths ?

    • @charliemccartney7055
      @charliemccartney7055  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Andrew, things will be better once the work is finished and the pipes are below ground. Obviously, the new tracks and water intakes are permanent and will fade. Walkers will probably enjoy the track option at either end of the walk as it cuts out the bog that we have normally. Cheers, Charlie
