  • This circular walk talks in the two Munros to the north of Achnashellach station that sit around Coire Lair. Beinn Liath Mhor and Sgoor Ruadh provide a grand days walking with spectacular views to Torrid and beyond.
It turned out a stunning, dry Autumn day with a strong breeze coming from the south.

Another great mountain excursion, done recently as well. Superb views of the Torridon hills and the immense rock slabs on Maol Chean Dearg's east side. Many moons ago my brother Mark and I did the route in reverse, gaining the ridge to Sgorr Ruadh just north of Fuar Tholl. What an amazing place that is with the immense Mainreachan Buttress up close. We were advised to do it that way as it was easier to access Bheinn Liath Mhor from the col than it was to descend to it, especially in wet conditions, although we found that a steadying hand at a couple of places saw us up to the ridge without problems. And what a ridge that is! Off the south end of the ridge I seem to remember walking around some drumlins on the way back to Achnashellach. These two hills must rank as one of the best walks in Scotland.

I see you had a break in the recent poor weather, and it made for a fantastic day for you. Looked cold? I love all of Scotland’s mountains, but the Torridon / Loch Carron area is my favourite. The giants of Torridon never cease to amaze. Lovely video, thank you.

Another great mountain adventure Charlie with spectacular views. Need to revisit these two hills as was a wet and wild ascent last time up I was there about 18 years ago. ATB Derek

Nice to see you out in some clear weather after the last few weeks. Hopefully the constant westerly systems slow down a bit and we can all get out a bit more. Great stuff as ever chaps 👍
