Hello, Many thanks. Really glad you enjoyed this one, it was a cracker and fine for our short winter days. Cheers
Another fantastic video really enjoying seeing them
Hi Kevin, Really great that you enjoyed this one as we had a cracker. Many thanks for watching. Cheers
It’s a long time since I climbed Ben Challum. I climbed it by the same route after having been out on the Ben Alder hills for 2 days from Culra Bothy and then walking out to Ossian and train down to Crianlarich. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Graham, Many thanks for watching. Sounds as if you had a terrific few days on the hills. Cheers
Wow, what a brilliant hike Charlie, so well worth going. Thanks for sharing. Take care. Wolfgang
Absolutely stunning views Charlie, a beautiful day to be on the hills, take care, Steven 🥾⛰️🏴🏴
Hi Steven, Yes, we had a cracking morning. Ben Challum is just superb in these conditions and ideal for our short winter days. Cheers
Amazing views. Thank you for sharing.
Hello, Many thanks. Really glad you enjoyed this latest outing and thanks for taking the time to view. Cheers
Great video and beautiful views ❄️🙂👍
Hello, Thank you and really glad you enjoyed our latest outing. Cheers
That was a stunning day for your hike Charlie and Mike. Great to see the sun was shining after a foggy week at work in the central belt. I definitely need to revisit this peak sometime, never been there on a clear day. ATB Derek
Hi Derek, These grey skies and mist are a bit of a pain so it was terrific getting a winter outing on Ben C which is ideal for these short days. It's certainly a bonnie top in a great location for views. Cheers
wonderful video.Thank you for sharing.
Hello, Many thanks, really glad you enjoyed this one. Thanks for watching. Cheers
Watching on a dark South Cheshire morning wishing I was in Glen Lochay and young enough to be crunching through the snow. But I'm not! Thanks.
Hi Geoffrey, Crunching through the snow on a sub zero day is something your never forget or ever get tired off. Glen Lochay is generally overlooked but its stunning to visit across the seasons. Cheers
Nice one Charlie, the perfect winters day out that one mate … crisp and clear .. cheers Stevie
Hi Stevie, A similar day you will have experienced I'm sure..... just glorious. Cheers
Ben Challum looks amazing with those clear skies and panoramic views. Must’ve been a bit chilly, but totally worth it for a day like that I guess. What a hike, it's really beautiful 😍
Hello, Really glad you enjoyed this upload. The stunning weather made was a joy and the low temperatures solidified the usually boggy access route. Cheers
Another brilliant video.........and stunning 360 views......👌👍
Hi Darren, Many thanks and really glad you enjoyed this one. Cheers
Was up there about this time last year in similar conditions and had the summit all to myself. A glorious wee mountain, and doing it in winter means no boggy walk up and down… Great video as always. Thanks for posting, see you on the next one, bye…
Hi Alistair, Yes, we've always found this one always better in winter conditions. A great day and hopefully many more through this winter. Many thanks. Cheers
Looked like a cracking day. Cheers Charlie.
Hello, Yes, just one of those days that is a joy for the scenery and to have the luxury of not having to fight with the elements. Cheers
Thanks very much Charlie, I always enjoy your no nonsense hill films. Nice sometimes to get a different slant on hill routes too. Thanks for taking the time and effort to make and put the films up. All the best to you and Mike.
Hi jentex, Its great that you enjoy tagging along on our outings, it's very much appreciated. A few more days like this one would be very welcome through the early part of this winter season 👍 Cheers
Awesome day, Charlie. Stunning snowy hills, looking superb! Thanks for uploading. Stuck inside under grey skies here but hey-ho. 🏴🏔👍
Hi nickname, Many thanks and hopefully you'll get out for under the grey skies soon. Cheers
Another brilliant video ! Missed you by 24 hours LOL
Hello, I hope you had enjoyed similar conditions 👍 Cheers
Wow fantastic I think this Munro is one of the best viewpoints in the Southern Highlands what day you had outstanding views cheers both have a fantastic Christmas best for 2025 cheers Andy Diolch 🏴
Hi Andy, I agree it's a terrific view point that is for sure. The still conditions just made things a wee bit more enjoyable. Have a good one during the up and coming festive period 👍 Cheers
It all looks really beautiful. A great day out.
Hi Charles, Many thanks. It was stunning and we are hoping for a few others through this early part of the winter. Cheers
Incredible winter views, so much worth the effort. Thanks for Sharing Charlie.
Hi Wolfgang, It was just one of those stunning winter days that you could take time and enjoy. Many thanks. Cheers
You cannot beat experience very clever guys doing this hike in December in those conditions I’d put that hike down to my worst day ever up the mountains as it is normally a total bogfest 😫 Yous are much more smarter than me though but I’m learning 😆 Cracking day guys we’ll done ⛰️ ☀️ 👍
Hi David, Yes, there are a few tops that certainly are worth doing in freezing temperatures. It doesn't always work out but starting with -8 overnight gives a good chance of some solid ground. Many thanks. Cheers
@ I done Kinnoull Hill on Monday there done it a few times now what a great wee hill to see the southern Scottish mountains 🏔️ 🏔️ 🏔️ a few of the mountains that you named were in full view all looking great covered in snow take care guys and stay safe out there 😉 David
Wow what a beautiful day,did you see any Goldies? Thank you, making me feel pretty jealous.
Hi Colin, No, unfortunately not but maybe next time. Cheers
There looked to be a lot of snow, and really cold in the morning with the inversion. But once up on the tops there are some great pictures. Thanks for the video. A great day to be out.
Hello, It was a cracker, particularly with very little wind. Fingers crossed we have a few other similar days through this winter. Many thanks. Cheers
Nice to see you back on the hills gents. Ben Challum is a really nice mountain. I particularly like the little ridge from the summit of its Top to the Munro summit. What a beautiful day you had. Stunning views.
Hi Jonathan, Its an ideal top for these short days and it also gave the opportunity to get a feel of the snow conditions. A super day, just hope this cold snap goes on a bit longer 👍 Cheers
Superb Charlie - that was just a wee walk in the park for you two 😊 I was up Ben Lomond on the same day and the conditions/views were similar although the summit was sheet ice. A great winter day.
Hi Selwyn, Great that you managed up Ben Lomond. The views must have been stunning across to the Arrochar Alps. With a bit of luck this cold spell might spill into the weekend to squeeze in another outing. Cheers
Fantastic winter conditions Charlie. I haven't managed to do any hills yet since winter took a grip will need to remedy this soon. Quite a boggy path so the ground would be nicely frozen.
Hi Kenny, It certainly makes things a bit easier when you leave these boggy paths for sub zero temperatures. I hope you get an opportunity soon to enjoy some glorious winter days. Cheers
Ben Challum was my Last Munro on 4th July 1998, going over my last Top to get to the summit. No view that day and no view a few years later when I did it again. Not only no view earlier this year when my wife and I went down for a 26th anniversary climb, but no ascent either. So intense were the wind and rain we had our B&B at the Inveroran Inn and came directly home. Thanks for confirming what a good choice it was for a Last Munro. Maybe that view will present itself next time. Great video and thanks again.
Hi Robert, Ben Challum is playing hard too get 🤣 What a great choice for a final Munro as its a bonnie top with outstanding views and not the hardest one to get at providing the weather is playing along. As the saying goes... 3rd time lucky. Take care. Cheers
Fantastic Winter conditions Charlie and a great edit 👏 atb Brian 👍
Hi Brian, Was that not a cracker 👍 The views were stunning and we loitered about the summit soaking it all in. A magic day. Cheers
You sods I'm so jealous, and what's the weather like this weekend 😡 Typical great weather over the week , no good if your working 🤷♂️
Hi itsablack, I know your pain.... for years we had the same frustration of the weather breaking down on the Friday just ahead of the weekend plans. There's an advantage to being a couple of old farts as its less of an issue now 👍🤣 Cheers
@charliemccartney7055 bit of an old fart myself , but if they keep shifting that retirement age I'll never get that freedom , I'll be dead by then.🤷♂️🤣
@@itsablack1 Brilliant, I like that 🤣🤣🤣
Awesome climb Charlie, looked freezing but beautiful sunshine and views with some inversion. Looked a great Munro to summit! Really enjoyed thanks
Hi Adam, Really glad you enjoyed yesterdays outing, it was a cracker. Bloody cold but no wind was the really bonus. Cheers
Fantastic video in stunning conditions. It’s so wonderful to see the hills looking sharp and bright like that - nowhere can beat it. I saw nothing up there but had a great day with friends. Best wishes and a good Christmas to you and yours. Murdo
Hi Murdo, It was just one of those winter days you hope for... magic. With a bit of luck we may see a few others this winter. All the best for the coming festivities. Cheers
I turned around on Monday doing Mount keen, the soft snow was 1ft deep so it would’ve taken forever, wasn’t firm snow like this
Hello, Soft snow at the depth isn't a joke and certainly challenges the fitness levels. -8 degrees frost just makes things so much easier and enjoyable. Hopefully we have more days like this to come 👍Cheers
@ yeah unfortunately I didn’t have time to summit, I was out for 4 hours, it would’ve taken around 7 hours to summit and get back to the car
Brilliant Charlie & Mike, that’s my kinda hill walking day, conditions were just sublime with fantastic views everywhere.👍 Love the sound of the hard packed snow/ice underfoot . Hope there’s plenty more days like that Charlie. Great edit as always ATB Frank
Hi Frank, Yes, a few more days like that would be nice. Just hope it stays cold enough into the weekend. You know what these days are like at this time of year and having no wind is always a bonus. Take care. Cheers
Beautiful winter views Charlie!
Hello, Yes, Ben Challum is ideally placed for stunning scenery and the misty and snow just adds to the atmosphere. Many thanks, Cheers
great video, I remember the days when the "estate" was not happy with hill-walkers going up the farm road. Great scenery from the top. Many thanks for sharing . ATB
Hi John, The estate certainly welcomes walkers now which is great. I'm sure this area is well big enough for all to enjoy. Cheers
Great pics bud
Hello, Many thanks, really glad you enjoyed our adventure. Cheers
Stunning views from an underrated Munro 😎
Hi Craig, I agree, its always a joy heading up Ben Challum particularly in a hard frost as it helps with the squelchy lower slopes 😊 Cheers
Quality

Hi Paul, Many thanks for watching. Cheers
Quality
Did this in the summer a few years ago so you know it would be muddy gah, met a few folk going the west highland way route , you got a good day and the views were tremendous , cheers
Hi 45ltr, Its ideal when you have frosty conditions as it makes the going a bit easier on the lower slopes. The views are tremendous.... Cheers
Morning Charlie, morning Mike, absolutely stunning. I will be heading up to the Lakes very soon, hoping for a lovely day too if the forecast is correct. I won't have snow but maybe some frost and hopefully I might get lucky with an inversion All the best guys Dave
Hi Dave, Hope you have a cracker in the Lakes. The low temperatures we have should see the snow lasting through to the beginning of next week 👍 Hopefully, we'll be able to take advantage of that. Take care, Cheers
Hi Dave, I hope you get frosty conditions in the Lakes but it looks like this cold snap isn't hanging around. Have a great outing. Cheers
👞perb. 😎👌 Jealous of all the pics this week on social media. Nice of the weather to turn at the weekend as per usual. 😕😭
Hi Kev, For years we had the same frustration with the weather taking a nosedive on a Friday. Now its not so bad now were in the midweek old farts club 🤣 I'll keep my fingers crossed for a cracking weather weekend. Cheers
Beautiful views, Charlie. We love seeing you point out the hills, especially in the snow. We climbed Ben Challum on our way north to climb our dear friend Geoff's last Munro, Bidean nan Bian. We barely remember it. Great to see you out. Fabulous xx
@@patriciarichards87 Hi Patricia, It was great for the opportunity for a bigger hill instead of our local tops. What a stunner we had, hopefully this winter will through up a few more like this. Cheers
Beautiful day out on these 4 Charlie.
Hi Andy, Yes, it was a cracker. Many thanks. Cheers
Amazing experience! How long did it took you? Was it hard?
Hello, This walk is about 9km and took us 3.5hrs. We are experienced walkers who are hill fit so you can easily extend the time by a few hours for less frequent hill goers. Here is some other information regarding this walk from Walkhighlands....www.walkhighlands.co.uk/skye/blabheinn.shtml Cheers
Wow , looks stunning just reached first hundred with two friends, we're hitting a wall with the traveling, etc any tips from a well seasoned one
Hello, That's always the problem when you get into three figures as you find out your hours travelling are longer than the time walking. No real easy answer, on distant day trips we'll leave 01:00ish and have a few hours sleep in the car or roadside tent before walking. Its all depends on how you can handle that routine. Through the longer days we'll have an overnight in the tent and walk both days to maximise the number of Munros to the gallon. We also have had a walking week in May for years which has been successful in collecting many of the further away Munros. I hope you continue to enjoy the Munro journey as I suspect there are a few you have still to complete that will get into your top six. Enjoy.... Cheers
Videos are fantastic
Hi Kevin, Really glad you enjoying viewing our adventures. Hopefully, a good snowy winter will give us something a bit different for a change. Many thanks. Cheers
Beautiful video! The scenery in Glen Shiel looks absolutely stunning, especially with the clear autumn weather. A’ Chralaig, Mullach Fraoch-choire, and Ciste Dhubh are such impressive peaks, and the addition of Am Bathach makes this loop look like an incredible day out. Really enjoyable to watch!
Hello, Really glad you enjoyed this one, as you saw, it was a stunner. It's a route we have completed a few times and it's very enjoyable and certainly doable. It's also a route you can easily shorten as condition develop on the day. Many thanks for watching. Cheers
Great videos guys , very informative and opens up other opportunities for me . 😊
Hello, Really glad you enjoyed this one. We normally complete the Fisherfield six in a single outing from Kinlochewe so it was nice to break them down for a change after getting stormed off the mountain on a previous visit. It's a magic remote area which cries out for being done in clear conditions just to fully enjoy the adventure. Enjoy, when you get around to them. Cheers
How far in can you get with the bike Charlie, just trying to save energy and time. I see there are a few fords to navigate. Thanks in advance 👍
@ You’ll get into the west end of the loch with the bike as the track goes to the bothy. Cheers
