Great to see places I could never get to. My lack of a head for heights prevented me doing any of these hills. In January a trip at Bo'ness heritage railway damaged my right knee. Now I cannot even walk far on the flat. So even a wander up an easy Peatland is no longer possible. Good to see you back.
Absolutely brilliant Charlie, as always you captured it magnificently. Loved the shot of Mike at 7.43 👍 Views were unbelievable, Liathach is right up there with SNG in the Cuillins as my fav mountains. Thanks for sharing Charlie ATB Frank
Hi Frank, Liathach is easily in my top three. It's a mountain that has a lot of early memories as we spent time over the winter at Glen Cottage. Never at lot done due to the conditions but the magic of the place with snow near the road was stunning. Thankfully, we waited a few hours for the better weather to arrive as the tops were in clag for a few hours. A stunning day 👍 Cheers
Aye you had the weather for it...and it offers a great experience. Many ( too many) years since I did it with Aberdeen Uni Lairig club. Another good day and you could add Beinn Alligan!
Hi Simon, Now that would have been a cracking day to add Beinn Alligin.... I've certainly seen the day but unfortunately its night 🤣 Many thanks for watching. Cheers
Great video Charlie, fantastic mountain. Perfect timing with the cloud lifting and breaking for the ridge too.
Hi Andy, Yes, we had a terrific return to this classic that never fails to impress. Cheers
A challenging and inspiring journey
Hello, Really glad you enjoyed this latest outing. Torridon is quite a special place with some of Scotlands best tops. Many thanks. Cheers
Magnificent. And you look like you strolled it!
Hi Andy, Yes, it was a super outing particularly with settled conditions. Many thanks for watching. Cheers
Absolutely incredible scenery in this video, the greenery really stands out and makes a beautiful place all the more stunning. Thanks for sharing 😊
Hi Kevin, Many thanks. Torridon is hard to beat when you have conditions like this and our few hours wait before starting was certainly worth it to allow the clag to clear. Thanks for watching. Cheers
Stunning video Charlie. Did the bypass many years ago and regret it! The Am Fasarinen look exposed but holds all seem fine. One of your best videos. Thanks for sharing!
Hello, Many thanks. The bypass is handy if conditions are a bit wild for the tops but in conditions like we had the pinnacles aren't a big issue. Obviously, a good head for heights but pretty straightforward scrambling in dry settled conditions 👍 Cheers
Absolutely fantastic video well done enjoyed my meeting with both on my walk to the triple buttress at the end of march this year really made my day meeting up with you
Hi Kevin, Many thanks. I was wondering if you would drop in a comment. Great to met you on the triple buttress path and I hope you had a terrific day. Take care, Cheers
Thank you really enjoying all your videos on your channel fantastic hopefully get a few more done my self this summer
Aaaah Torridon. One of my favourite places in Scotland. ❤
Hi Richard, Join the club, no better place. Cheers
Fabulous video. You never tire of seeing the Torridon peaks
Hello, Yes, your spot on. Torridon is absolutely magic 👍. Cheers
I love the diversity of terrain with our Munros . One day you can be on the “summit” of some non descript Meall with hardly a crag in sight, and the next day you are doing this, or a Sgurr Nan Gillian , or An teallach.
Hello, That's the joy of the Scottish Munros and when you walk through the seasons some of the Meall's can also show teeth. Many thanks. Cheers
Magnificent images of this stunning route. Looked like a great day out, especially as the cloud lifted.. Thanks for all the effort. geoff.
Hi Geoff, Glad you enjoyed this one. We waited for a few hours before starting just to make sure the better weather had a chance of getting in and it was certainly worth the wait. Cheers
Absolutely beautiful x Fabulous views. So long since we climbed Liathach. Thank you for a really lovely film xx
Hi Patrica, Many thanks and really glad you enjoyed our wonder along this classic. Liathach is easily in my top three and always a joy to revisit. Cheers
Great stuff Charlie brilliant filming to match the views 👍I needed something to cheer me up after the football ha ha!
Hi Peter, Really glad we were able to bring some cheer as the football was pretty dire 🤣 Cheers
Absolutely gorgeous views, fantastic video!! Defo looking forward to coming here. Did the Glen Lyon circuit on Saturday there and your video for that was a great help in preparation. Thank you👌😁
Hi Sean, Best to leave it for a good day as it's a shame to miss the experience in claggy conditions. Cheers
Amazing video of a quite amazing place. Thanks again - wonderful to watch. I was in Glenfinnan on Saturday and turned back at about 740m as the weather really closed in and I was on my own - right call. But jealous of your views! It almost looks as if the ridge is more palatable than the bypass path, which looks a bit thin and precipitous to me. Anyway thanks again. Best wishes Murdo
Hi Murdo, The path can be an option if the weather is a bit wild, although the ridge is obviously better for full views. The ridge is pretty straightforward when you have conditions like this. Cheers
Fabulous video Charlie! The views are amazing! You guys make it look so easy. Well done!
Hi trapper, Many thanks for taking the time to view and really glad you enjoyed the outing. Cheers
Sensational!
Hello, Glad you enjoyed looking over our latest outing 👍 Cheers
Another cracker chaps. 👏
What a jewel of a mountain so lucky in the British Isles to have scenery and mountain expance in a small country and its on your door step not bagged it myself its just the pinnacles could throw the spanner in the works a good head for heights is required 😀 can't wait for the next one
Hi Philip, Its certainly great to have tops like this within a few hours drive. Its an area with classic mountains all around 👍 Cheers
Brilliant day out. Great ridge, brilliant views and, as always, good company. Thanks for taking us with you.
Hi ajay, Really glad you enjoyed this outing to a classic top. Simply magic... Cheers
Magnificent views ...subscribed.
Hi David, Many thanks for viewing and subscribing 👍 Cheers
Fantastic video Charlie. Well done to you and Mike - you both make it look easy, which I'm sure it is not. Comparing your other video using the bypass path some years ago, which route do you think is scarier and which do you prefer?
Hi Steve, The pinnacles are more enjoyable and better views but the bypass is handy if conditions aren't right for the ridge. The bypass has a short corner which requires a good head for heights and a bit of focus. Its all great fun... Cheers
Hard to beat a day like that Charlie, I'm looking to do the pinnacles next time so was good to see them in this video,Cheers, James
Hi James, You'll enjoy them once you get around to them. Straightforward scrambling in conditions like this but wild weather could make it more challenging. Great to see your journey progressing towards completion and you have generated a terrific video library of tops. Well done....Cheers
A wonderful video. Thank you. It brings back so many memories. And I agree. One of the best views in Scotland.
Hi Pauline, Thank you. Liathach is a bit special and always sticks in the memory as one of the best. Cheers
Stunning absolutely stunning.
Hi Neil, It certainly was just that. Cheers
HI Charlie, Hi Mike. Absolutely amazing gents, what a stunning place, beautiful views. That is one hell of a ridge walk. I have seen videos though of people on the bypass path and that looks even more daunting. All the best gents Dave
Hi Dave, Many thanks. Yes, there is a short bit on the bypass that needs a bit of focus and a good head for heights. It makes a good alternative if the weather is a bit wild. Cheers
Brilliant video (as usual) on a brilliant mountain. Looks like you two had a fabulous day. Take care, Marko
Hi Marko, We waited around for the weather to come in and we certainly weren't disappointed. Just a magic place with superb tops. Cheers
Wow! What an epic scenery. Thanks for uploading these gems, Charlie! Be careful and always stay safe.
Hello, Many thanks. It's always a joy getting onto the ridge in settled conditions as it never disappoints. Cheers
Epic Charlie .
Hi Paul, Glads you enjoyed our latest outing. As you say... epic. Cheers
Incredible video lad, really enjoyed this.. love how calm your voice is... i think id be lost for words up there with them drops.. well done fellas , keep em coming :)
Hi Dave, Many thanks and glad you enjoyed this one. A good head for heights does help but the place is absolutely magic. Cheers
Awesome video i climbed liathach over twenty years ago I must go back I never went out to the east top so that was interesting thanks for sharing it’s really one of the best mountains in Scotland cheers
Hi Andrew, I would suggest it's a mountain that should be revisited through your walking journey as its certainly one of the best and a bit different from the norm. Cheers
Superb, its amazing view that's for sure.
Hi Barrie, Many thanks. We waited a few hours for the clag to clear and certainly worth the wait. Cheers
Wow, what a walk and what a video. Our first two Munro’s were on Beinn Eighe with limited views on the day, this video helped show us what we should’ve seen. Thank you, much appreciated
Hi Les, Glad you enjoyed a look around these tops. Your first two Munros on Beinn Eighe.... what a great pair to start with 👍 Cheers
Fantastic Charlie ! Such a great video! Cheers Wolfgang
Hi Wolfgang, Many thanks. It was a cracking day and Liathach is certainly in my top three. Cheers
My favourite. No view when we did it though. We are heading to the fisherfields a week on Thursday. Praying for good weather. Heading up from York. Thanks for the videos Charlie. I get all my routes from you two. 👍
Hi Ken, Many thanks... I really hope the weather is on your side for Fisherfield so you are able to enjoy the experience. A wee breeze would also be great as the midge are on steroids and waiting for you to visit 🤣 Enjoy..... Cheers
@@charliemccartney7055 😂😂😂
As usual, great video Charlie, thanks for posting! 🙂 This is my favourite Scottish mountain (alongside An Teallach), and I have climbed it at least five times (the sixth time, we had to turn back at about 700 metres because of bad weather), all from East to West, too.
Hi Rosa, Many thanks... It's certainly in my top three and always a joy to visit. We've had a few winter visits up into the corrie (without getting to the ridge) and it's a beast in winter condition. Just a superb area to visit and take in the views, even if you don't leave the road. Cheers
@@charliemccartney7055 🙂
I remember you two used the by-pass path a few years ago, as did James in Scottish Munro Journey recently. For me certainly, going over the pinnacles looks a lot less scary. The by-pass path looked terrifying.
Hi David, I remember a wee corner of the bypass path certainly needs focus but it's handy if the wind direction and strength makes the pinnacles more challenging. Cheers
Amazing views 😎 A mighty adventure 🍀
Hi Craig, It was a cracker. Many thanks for taking the time to view. Cheers
Seen a few videos of Liathac including older ones of yours, but this one might top the lot. Absolutely stunning. What a place!
Hello, Torridon is a stunning location with some of the best tops in Scotland and when the weather is with you, it takes a lot of beating. Many thanks, Cheers
I stumbled up to the initial ridge a few years ago. I've climbed a few mountains, but nothing so precarious as the paths that greet you along the ridge at the top. Stumbling onto the ridge you see at 02:28, the immediate views right down into the valleys (chasms) either side put the fear of God into me, and I decided to head straight back down!
Hi Shaun, Yes, I can totally understand your reaction to the initial views and certainly the right decision to go down. After all, it's for enjoyment and shouldn't be something that takes you outside your comfort zone. Cheers
Brilliant video, loved it, the views were amazing 👍
Hi Neil, Many thanks, glad you enjoyed this one. We always enjoy return visits to this magic area. Cheers
Superb…did it years ago in the mist and didn’t see a thing!
Hi Nick, A revisit in stick on weather is what you need... 👍 Cheers
A stunning mountain I first climbed it in 1957 by the “direct route” whereas the last time around 10yrs ago we were directed around the N side due to erosion of the S side. Fir once the diversion proved tobe unexpectedly scenic. Due to failing eyesight that would be my last time.
Hi Keith, It would certainly be a different experience climbing in 1957, even getting to the foot of the tops would have been a challenge 👏 There would be no manufactured or well worn paths in those days. Well done.... the love of the hills is always with you. Cheers
Great day out Charlie. Looks like a nice relaxed walk.
Hi Andy, Yes, these are a super grouping for all seasons. Cheers
Anoher great route and video to match Charlie. Thank you. I'm up there next week and I was just wondering - I'm just getting over a bit of Knee trouble myself - and like your Man I was thinking of doing the "Direct" up pat the Lochan to the top of Quinag initially and then if I could still breath I could reverse your route back down over Spidean Coinnich. Would there be any problems doing it in Reverse do you think ? Any advice - greatly appreciated. Slainte.
Hi Les, Its a good plan to head for the lochan and see how you are going. You'll have no issues with the reverse route as there is a good path and nothing technical. The gradual drop back to the car on large slabs is a joy. Really hope you get the weather to fully enjoy the day. Cheers
@@charliemccartney7055 Cheers Charlie - Good Man.
thanks Charlie, you get so many super days.
Hi Vanessa, It helps when you have more than the weekend to try and hit the good weather days 🤣 Cheers
Nice one chaps. A fine day on a fine wee round. 👍
Hi Kev, These four are always an enjoyable visit. Can certainly do with a bit of summer turning up. Take care. Cheers
I did this round very recently on the 30th May whilst on holiday, we were staying in Invervar so I didn't have the problem of parking, it's a fantastic round and I had very similar weather, an unrelenting cold brisk wind, but clear summits and no rain..........I reckon there is some good alternatives to the normal routes around the Lawers range starting from Glen Lyon too........
Hi Darren, We have actually walked into the east end of the Lawers range from the previous car park and its certainly a good alternative. Many thanks for taking the time to view. Cheers
