Another thank you to you two for the videos on this washer. We were able to determine it was a capacitor on the board that was the problem. It would run one time then crap out the next run so it was on it's way to complete failure. The capacitor looked like it might explode anytime; it was very puffy. We replaced it; there was much laughter when were trying to solder the new one on. My husband it almost caught up on laundry. You two are wonderful for sharing this info.
For some reason my washer keeps stopping an the lid unlocks an then everytime i try to restart it the machine trys an then stops again an lid unlocks again. Any suggestions?
My washer wont get past the sensing stage. Lid lock light blinks repeatedly and locks and unlocks machine until it sends the washer into a "paused" state. I have 4 children and I am a nurse so I really really need a washer! Please help!!!!
Get rid of this machine mine went to the scrap yard called up the local place they refurbish the old machine bought one from them 300.00 all said and done delivered and the old junk taken away. Love the old washing machine it had knobs and is simple. The one I bought was the last year Maytag made washing machine love the old stuff.
great video and I've completed all the manual tests and everything checks out but when trying to wash recently, the machine just stops before it runs through the wash cycle, drains the machine and just stops with the "wash" indicator illuminated on machine???? Please help lol. Thanks
If you have the manual, I recommend retrieving the diagnostic trouble codes which may be stored in the computer. That might point you in the right direction.
Thank you SO MUCH for this video! I just got one of these washers and it won't fill. it seems stuck in done mode. I'll open it and get the manual to figure this out. I'm sure it's something simple (at least I hope so).
My washer wont work on any setting other then gentle cycle. How do I reset the computer to factory settings.? When the repair man came out before for the same problem that's all he did. I'm not trying to pay him to push a few buttons if I can help it. Ty
I have a whirpool cabrio wtw7600xw washed a load of sheets, and they came out with the sheet over the top, which it has done in the past. This time, there was junk all over the top, which looked like poop dirty and sand mixed together. Disgusting. I ran 3 cycles of clean washer, and while the drum was full during the cycle, it was full of junk floating around. What is causing this? I dont want to use my washer until i figure this out.
Thanks for uploading this video! My problem is that water won't stop filling I tested two valves, both are working fine... Not sure what is the problem
Thank you for the video. Couple questions. 1. our machine is the exact same. Water is dripping inside when not in use, what should I do? 2. the spin cycle. Seems to be very loud in spin cycle. I don't remember it being this loud. What should we do?
I suggest running manual test mode, and then doing tests 01 and 02, cold valve and hot valve, to make sure they are working properly. Something may be preventing the valve from closing fully. At each valve where the supply lines connect to the machine there are water filters inserted into the valve. Turn off the water, remove the supply lines, and either clean, replace, (or as I did, just plain remove) those filter inserts. Look at each valve and be sure there is no built-up debris that could be clogging the valve. Clean as needed. I'm not sure what to suggest about the loud spin cycle. Run manual tests numbers 09 and 10, low spin and high spin, and see how it sounds with an empty machine. Good luck.
Hey I have maybe a newer model th UL keeps coming up when it is at the spin and drain cycle. No mater if the washer is full or empty this always happens. do you have a idea on why??or how to fix thanks
My manual says: Off Balance Load Detected: Check for weak suspension. Basket should not bounce up and down more than once when pushed. Clothing should be distributed evenly when loaded. That's all I can find....
Using your model number/code you might be able to find one online. Here's a video my wife put together that shows you each page of the manual: th-cam.com/video/rXKKWpjbnpQ/w-d-xo.html
The spin and agitation tests require "Lid Lock must first be enabled". How is this accomplished ? As I rotate the dial, no position seems to activate lid lock.
Nevermind. Figured it out by watching similar video on TechnicalLee channel. When you activate MTM (manual test mode), you are already at the first test: lid lock (indicator light shows "00"). By pressing "Start" you test the lid lock, BUT from this point and this position you can do the agitation and spin tests by rotating the dial to their proper positions. So don't think this is some "one off" test. While you are in this mode, you can do tests: 09 Low Spin, 10 High Spin, 11 Gentle Agitation, and 12 Heavy Agitation by a few clicks of the dial.
I was able to get into test mode but I can't find a technician manual. The cold water says CL. The drain test does nothing. The slow spin test does nothing and the high spin test blinks with a lid lock and the display says 71. Help please
I found this online: The Cabrio Washer Error F71 code is the same as the SD code: This error means the main control board detects too much drag on the basket during the spin cycle. Most of the time this is caused by using too much detergent and there are a lot of suds built up between the inner and outer tub. The Cabrio Washer Error SD happens when the main control board detects too much drag on the basket during the spin cycle. Most of the time this is caused by using too much detergent and there are a lot of suds built up between the inner and outer tub. The washer will try to fix this itself by extending the rinse time to clear the suds, if it is able to clear them and no more drag is detected on the tub the Cabrio Washer Error SD code will clear from the display. If the error persists then the steps to take to try and remedy this error are listed below. Often times this error can be fixed simply by cleaning out the pump trap and making sure the washer is able to drain properly, if it does not drain fast enough the suds will remain longer in the tub and cause this error. If the pump and drain hoses are good and its draining properly, then open the washer lid/door and pour some vinegar in the tub and run a cycle with the washer empty and no detergent. That should clean and clear the washer of any remaining suds. If you are using liquid detergent just use one tablespoon you do not need anymore than that regardless of what the product directions tell you. If none of the above helps then most likely this problem is being caused by friction on the drive system.
My main problem is the I need that manual. The mice got the original one. What a pain without it. So far I can't pinpoint it. Tied a new shift actuator, previous owner tried a lid switch. Tested capacitor its good. It wasn running in water good, draining good. But now nothing happens except light indicators and beeping. I tell ya it's demon possesed.
Thanks for the video! I have a WTW5500BWO Cabrio and don’t have a manual or service/repair guide like you are looking at. I can’t find a repair/service guide online and Whirpool can’t provide one or allow me to purchase one like you are showing with codes, etc. Do you know where I can acquire one do I can troubleshoot? The tub ring started to shred and I am trying to troubleshoot before taking apart or calling a technician. Thanks!!!
Did you open up the washing machine housing to look for the Service Technician's Guide? It would be inside a clear plastic bag affixed to the inside of the metal housing. Other than than, I do not know where to get a hold of this repair manual. Good luck.
How do you open up the housing? It's one big piece that wraps around three sides. Do you have to remove it from the back? If so, would I find the manual in the back instead of the front? My laundry room is tiny and my washer is wedged between the wall and sink basin so I don't have the room to pull it out and pull off the entire housing. @@Buckwsr
My problem is that my washer doesn't complete a cycle. For every wash option, it begins to wash and a few minutes later, it stop and the lid unlocks. So I have to use Rinse & Spin to complete the cycle.
The service manual taped in a plastic pouch on the inside of the machine housing....(a bit of pain to access)...has all the codes and trouble-shooting info.
I looked up your problem online. A few other people had the same issue. The only solution I found so far: press/hold both the power button and the start button for 3 seconds. Sounds like a way to reset the machine. Let us know if it works!
The previous owners mice ate the manual while in storage. Lol I got it in its present nonworking ccondition. Only lights up. No water runs, lid doesnt lock. Help a old man. Lol
What ever happened to the washer that one could just turn the knobs to the cycle one wanted. Without all of this little bells and whistles. And all of the bs just to wash.
Following that line of reasoning to its logical conclusion, you should be washing your clothes with an old washboard and a bucket, or a rock down at the river's edge....!!

My washer wont start, everything works fine but, when I hit start it just makes a beep sound and it wont start. What can I do to get it to start?
I hate this washer thanks for the video!

Same here
Thank you.
Any way to get a replacement manual. My bonehead roomie threw ours away after me stating we NEEDED that. I wasn't home at the time.

Hello! I just stumbled across this! I went to manual test load and pressed start on the lid lock test and nothing happened. What should it be doing?
I got the lid lock to work but now it’s stuck in sensing. It will sense, click, and then go back to sensing and never go to wash
My won't spin when it's in wash mode it's making a sound I bought a belt and new sheild and have the clutch pulley kit I will help

Water inlet valve sounds faulty
How did you fix the lock problem
new lid lock
When i try to do the manual spin and agitate test all the lights blink but the lid is locked any idea why?
Sounds like a motor problem, as the motor is necessary for both agitate and spin.
