    HI there, thanks heaps for the showcase. I've tweaked a couple of things with the mod over the last few days after some feedback from users: AI targeting can be disabled now, and power consumption is customisable - you can set a multiplier to increase/decrease the 300MW (large grid pull,) change the small grid divisor if the 1/8th doesn't suit you, and there's also an option to have power requirement based on mass. I haven't changed the manual-turn-guns-on requirement because, as you mention, they can be grouped and turned on with a hotbar key, or enabled via programmable block (personally I use a PB to turn off cloak and then turn on guns 5s when "cooldown" is over.) The guns timeout is to partially balance the advantage of sneaking up.
    Anyway, glad you liked it, and thanks once again for the showcase!

    What I would like to see is a cloaking device that allows who/whatever in the ship to see who/whatever is in the ship with it still being invisible from the outside. A bonus would be, if you walked in, you could see it and if you walked out, you couldn't.

    The 'Terror' from *Star Wars Legends*. It was a Super Star Destroyer that could become completely invisible.

      +DragonBlitz85 It was also the only Executor-class Star Dreadnaught that carried the TIE Phantoms, as well as being one of two Executor Star Dreadnaughts to be outfitted with a Stygium cloaking device. Unfortunately, the dreadnaught, its TIE Phantom complement, and cloaking device were destroyed by Rebel sabotage.

    im watching this a year late but imagine using this but have a projector projecting a ship at the same time so say your bieng chased and you have this you can quickly go behind a astroid cloak and shoot a out a projection far ahead of you so he chases it and you follow behind only to decloak behind and open hell on his engines in the back

    I've downloaded this mod,but have yet to try it. I do have some questions though(which I might answer on my own.
    1: What happens when you crash the cloaked ship with something else? Does it break the cloak? Or crash the game?
    2: What happens when you add blocks to the cloaked ship? Are the new blocks visible?
    3: Could this be used to hide "mines" around a base? Add a bunch of Warheads and a cloak
    4: Can you cloak a station(space or ground)?
    5: Can this be used with the Energy Shields mod? Are the Shields visible?
    Okay, I'm gonna go test these right now!

      All questions I want to know the answer to, if it can be used with and make the energy shields invisible along with making ramming into other ships not decloak then it's potentially the most powerful weapon in multiplayer, you could tear through enemies like an invisible sword and they'd never see it coming.

    hey might add it if it didnt cloak fully. I mean its almost transparent. see through enough to not be able to see from medium or far distance but you could notice if it moved in he backround if your too close to a player.

    I was playing around with the mod and realized that it uses the same system to cloak things as loading better textures. If you turn down your graphics settings a block won't have good textures until you approach it, the better textures load over the worse ones in a similar way to how your ship cloaks.

    would be neat if you could cloak your starbase when you're not on it.also, how goes the voice hunt? I did make a RWI themed log entry for giggles...not sure if that was the sort of thing you were looking for.

    a nice idea on lan bases. but imagine that 4 are playing the game and has to move. The fire is like the bird of pray from start trek that has to uncloak in order to fire.

    this mod could potentially change how a battle goes, also if u r putting it on one of your ships i'd put it on the phantom (a ship named after a term for ghosts being able to vanish like one)

    I really wish there was some sort of glitch in the cloaking device mechanism that would cause it to glitter or something ever so often. So other ships aren't completely blind-sided by this. I think it's a bit overpowered. A really cool mod nonetheless however.

    How hard could it be to simply program the cloaking device to create a big invisible box around the ship where it basically renders anything inside of it invisible to the outside? I'm sure it's laggy now because it's applying the gradual invisibility effect to every single block of the ship individually, but what if you just do it to the image of the ship all at once? In theory that would also make it so anyone within the "derendering box" would be able to see everything else in it just fine.

    the real question is can this be used in pve? if it can hide you from those pesky player seeking drones, than that means it can hide you from pretty much anything, and make an interesting single player experiance, if not than you could potentially use special drones to hunt down cloaked ships in multi player

    Maybe the AI turrets can detect cloaked/hit ships because they're tracking using scientific instruments normally utilized for cataloguing gaseous anomalies to track the plasma/ionized gas output by the cloaked ship's sublight drives?

    Question...how is target from enemy ships affected when the cloak is on? Do they still fire or wait until your ship fires first?

      He answered this in the video, AI controlled turrets will target and shoot the ship regardless of cloak being active.

    Being able to fire immediately after uncloaking would just make the mod OP. Something like cloaking has to have serious consequences, otherwise it ruins the balance of a game.

      Yes because ai don't go for ships, they go for players, and can detect them from very very very far distances.

    It's a cool mod for thematic servers and games, but I don't feel it belongs in the main game.
    For one it's a highly advanced piece of military hardware which would be out of place as the game contains very little similar military equipment. Sure we have turrets but they feel pretty pathetic when you think of a military ship of today and it's weapon compliment, we don't even have auto cannons or basic space equivalents of Air to air missiles so a clocking device would feel like it was really at odds with the games level of military tech unless a whole new assortment of weapons and countermeasures were also introduced.

      It is unknown if they will add water or how they will implement it, there's two routes they could take, making it dynamic and making it static, dynamic is likely impossible for Keen to implement seeing as how...lets say temperamental the game already is. Static water wouldn't be too difficult because it'd basically be a sphere overlaid on planets making a sea level where the terrain is low enough, downside being that you wouldn't be able to dig underground without water just magically being at that level regardless of how far from visible water you do so. Odds are they currently just don't want to spend the extra time and effort on it at the moment, figuring out how they'd want things to react to water etc, having stuff float or not too. The interior of ships not flooding would be pretty straightforward as they've already got the air pressurization code there so it'd just take some adjustments to that to make it work for water/air instead of vacuum/air.
      Long story short: God only knows when, how and why it isn't already in.

      The Odyssey did cloak but that was with some voodoo magic when Daniel was a Prior of the Ori along with having a ZPM on board.

      Use one of the radar mods, that should still pick it up. Kinda ruins the point of cloaking the ship though.

      Exactly, I do use radar and shield mods. I am saying it would be cool if they implemented something like the transporter mod, where it has a block to stop unwanted transports; ie a block that detects cloaked ships

      I'd say using the radar mods add a better balance than 'just' detecting cloaked ships, it detects everything that registers so it'd be more of a challenge to see which blip is a cloaked ship instead of it just going "oh look there it is". Still makes it so there's little to no reason to use the cloak if the enemy can just detect it anyway.

    I don't think I like the idea of this in the vanilla game. It really doesn't fit with the aesthetic of the game; early deep space exploration and mining. Until planets were released it was all supposed to take place in the Asteroid Belt of our own solar system. Consider also that all 3 moons and two of the planets are modeled after planets in our Solar System and it still has the feel of taking place relatively close to home.
    Jump Drives and ion thrusters, remain the only science fiction systems in the vanilla game. And with Ion Drive experimentation occurring right now it's not a big stretch. Therefore Jump Drives remain the only truly sci-fi piece of tech in the vanilla game. And the ONLY reason it exists is so that travel between planets doesn't take real-world days...so it was a mechanical sacrifice in the interest of player enjoyment.
    That being said. I am by no means a vanilla player, and frequently run with about 20 mods and I am thrilled this mod exists and I will be using it extensively.
