I have a 19 Gen MOS as my first handgun 5 years ago. I then shortly after bought a 17 Gen 5 MOS. I went with the 17 for night stand and 19 for ccw, sighted both with the SCS MOS to get used to optic on both guns.
I have the Glock 17 gen5 MOS with Timney trigger. Silencer too because the treaded barrel. Holosun red dot on it. What a great gun now. I also have Glock 19 gen5 with treaded barrel. All original crap. Crap that will work on any cold temperature, snow, mud, ice, water,.. I also have the original Colt Anaconda for any situation. I carry them both when i go to my cabin. I am pretty sure the .44 magnum will stop everything. If not, then 9 mm magazine will do.
I definitely should consider a specific home defense gun. But my EDC + self & home defense would be my G19.5 MOS. I do try to train consistently with dry fire and when I have the time I would live fire. But definitely my G19.5 is the jack of all trades... for now :)
Honestly, that's still not a bad idea! Even if it was the same exact base gun, you can still build them out differently to serve their purpose. Your CCW can have a smaller light, no mag well (they print easier), and an enclosed optic to prevent belly lint. Then your home defense G19 could have a bigger light, a gas pedal thumb rest, a big ole mag well, and a night vision compatible optic or something. I think you're on the right track though man!
Great video… I have always bought and built hand guns for a purpose. My EDC is a G48 with combat sights and nothing else. My home security weapon is a G19 gen5 MOS with an SCS MOS optic, Ameriglo trooper sights, TLR 7A light and a Glock performance trigger. This also pulls extra duty as a church security weapon. I have others just because. My long guns are the same…
Awesome build!!! The one thing I have reserves about is add a comp. Only because guns are already loud enough (especially indoors). And in a home defense situation I’d personally wanna keep the stress of my family as low as possible. Just an opinion🤙🏽
100% agree and that's very serious consideration. Last thing you want is to disorient yourself or your family. I think threaded barrel + suppressor would be the way to go. I've only been considering a comp for pistol courses but totally agree with you
Nice setup and nice choices. I have a Glock 19 MOS with a HS507C red dot as my night stand gun. Sometimes I’ll put my threaded barrel in there. My EDC is Glock 19 Gen 4. Sometimes I’ll carry the Glock 19 Gen 3. As you can see I love the Glock 19. I know it’s gonna run and any mag I grab, will run. Great video!
@theerealbillyb try the jtt berrles it's not as big as a threaded berrle but it's such a flat shooter with the 60 dollar berrles but they are going fast .
Shadow Systems MR920L, x300u-A, Trijicon SRO, +5 mag extension, Timney trigger with Johnny Glocks Trigger bar and connector. And of course a Herrington arms compensator. 🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼
@@defencivsolutions oh is amazing man. It doesn’t flip anywhere as much. Especially with the longer barrel length and the x300 weight it’s like shooting my mark iv
Ok hear me out. I edc a g19 with agency 417 comp, an x300T-a and a thumb cliff. It rides in a qvo holster for a Glock 34 with the x300 modified for the thumb cliff. It conceals better than the tier 1 xiphos for a Glock 19 with a stock length pistol and no light. I’m not limited in my edc by a smaller gun and carry sized light so I can be as effective as possible. It also sits on the nightstand with a 19x mag in it for 4 more rounds. I’d say get comfortable carrying a big gun and you don’t need a dedicated home defense pistol
It’s similar honestly. Except now the two panes of glass cause a little bit of reticle distortion. From what I’ve seen, the brightness is about the same but I haven’t had it be too bright as long as it’s in the auto setting
Great video I have a question for you. Does that style of slide release? Does it scrape against your slide? A lot of people I see that use that slide release overtime it has wear on the side of the slide from usage
It does initially. Learned that the hard way on my G19. BUT before installation on this one, I bent the "wings" of the Kagwerks ever-so-slightly outwards with just my hands, which totally prevented any scratching on the G47's slide as you can see in the video. In the end, its a tool so I don't mind a little roughing up.
Glock 34 gen 5 is go to pistol. G26 or g19 for carry to keep same manual of arms and same mags and most parts. I have others but those are the go to pistols. I’ve also tried other platforms and always circle back to Glock. Lightest for size and shoot softer than most other striker guns of the same size.
@@defencivsolutions I’m 5’10 about 230. The only issue I would have carrying the g34 is the barrel length hits things when I sit. I carry around 4oclock position. I’m considering getting a 17 or 45 for edc that way I’m down to one grip length.
@@javery50 I hear you. The 34 is long and nice to have. You could also opt for just a second slide setup, like a 17 gen 5 mos slide+barrel, that way you can just swap them without having to build out a whole separate gun
Glock 19 with treaded barrel. Just put some red dot on it. It has slightly longer barrel and you can attach silencer on it. Other option for me is Glock 17 with threaded barrel for the same reasons. Why pick Glock 34 over it? Threaded barrel is about the same lenght. Change the trigger for Timney Alpha trigger if you really want to shoot long ranges. That is about it what you get with the money. Sure you can go to Canik or something but the tupperware pars are not that sturdy.
It's pretty solid! I have since moved it to a 43X that I just picked up. The only complaint I have about it: there is a lot of reticle distortion on the upper half of the window because there are two panes of glass instead of the one on the SCS MOS. Not sure if other enclosed optics from Holosun have this same issue, but it doesn't bother me as much when using the single dot reticle. Other than that, love it and its nice to not have to worry about a battery
@@francomora909 I just have another SCS MOS on there, but its a place holder for now. I definitely want another enclosed optic, willing to branch out from Holosun this time
Not quite. Think of the Glock 17 as the long-boi version of the Glock 19. Pistol grip is longer, and the slide+frame are longer. The Glock 45 is a middle ground between the two. It has the pistol grip length of the Glock 17, but the shorter barrel+frame of the Glock 19. The Glock 47 is if you made a love child between all of the above. It still has the longer grip length of the Glock 17, and the longer barrel length of the Glock 17, but it's frame underneath the barrel is shortened and a dust cover is added so that it can handle the guide rod and spring length of the shorter 19. Thus, you can switch the slides of the 19 and 47 to form a Glock 49 (19L) and a Glock 45. Confusing but cool.
@@Official.Boyce82 Yes it should be. MOS just means it has the optics cut, but as long as it is gen 5 you should be good. Just double check with your FFL
