    Which Cheely grip did you go with? What light are you running?

    Gosh I’ve been wanting to take my prodigy out! I’ve had it for about a month and still haven’t got the chance to shoot it. I also have th 4.25” with the Hex Dragonfly and surefire x300u. I also put on a nighthawk 15 lb recoil spring because of all the things I’ve heard about the prodigy. I love your vids I might even switchback to the normal 12lb spring looking at your vids. You haven’t experienced any malfunctions??

    • @americantrucker9813

      Thank you and once you get through the break in period on yours (getting the cerakote worn down on the internals) you shouldn’t need a heavier recoil spring. In fact, the lighter recoil spring helps with reliability and recoil. It gives the gun more time to feed reliably, but I would love to get my hands on the 5 inch they have been out of stock everywhere! And I have had a few malfunctions during the break in Period (first 250 rounds) the extractor became out of tune, and I had three failure to extract back to back, so I took out the extractor and tightened it up (bend very very lightly) and that was over 10,500 rounds ago now since then I believe I have only had may be three more failures due to ammo certain but my prodigy is the most reliable gun I’ve ever owned and shot ! Please share your journey I’d like to know how yours work out ! Good luck & God Bless!

      @@americantrucker9813 You’re right, I should give the stock recoil spring a chance to give the gun how it came a chance. I appreciate that feedback brother! And yeah the 5” I can’t find anywhere! My store I go to locally got 3 prodigy’s but all were the 4.25. I was like damn imagine if I got a hold of the 5” lol! But I’ll keep you updated on mine! Probably by your next vid I should be able to get some freedom seeds through it! God bless

    Why is your holster hanging so low homie? Hike that joint up several inches. You’ll be better for it in the end.

      I can’t say that’s the first time I’ve been called crazy but I don’t wear eye protection because it’s pretty painful with my Ear protection and they fog up plus at the end of the day it’s %100 up to GOD if I lose anything and some cheap Chinese plastic won’t change that. I could make an entirely new TH-cam channel about my Relationship with GOD & All of my Blessings & Miracles but I’d have to quit my day job so that is to say I am a Man of absolute Faith.

      I am currently still using the factory recoil spring and it has been great! I was going to do that upgrade but wasn’t sure about fitment as well as they have been out of stock. Well at least the atlas ones but anyways I have done a lot to my gun but that is because it is fun for me to do that. I just want to make it clear this gun ran excellent completely factory. In fact, the first couple thousand rounds were before I made a single change.

    Thanks for the recommendation. After watching your videos, I scrapped the 10-8 and Wilson slide lock levers. Do you have anything that shows where you actually sanded your lever? Thanks in advance!

      @matthewvolpe7515 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@americantrucker9813 no worries! I have the original grip. I received the Klonimus lever and realized you either have to modify the grip or shave the lever. No way I’m cutting the grip, so I’m open of alternative suggestions. I may just put it on my Emissary because it’s a decent lever for the price.

    • @americantrucker9813
      @americantrucker9813  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You don’t need to cut your original grip I didn’t do that either because you can’t buy them my aluminum grip was different but simply sand down the lever it might seem like it’s too little material left over but it’s mild steel or whatever type of metal so you don’t need much for it to work

    So you went cheely on me ? That's a nice chunk of change, I thought about it, but I just decided on a stipple job, I have the Wilson Combat extended slde release also had to notch out the grip for it. You got her running good though, can't wait to get mine all back together, waiting on my slide to come back, got it V8 ported, and some other work done on it

      The reasons to go Metal grip for me Smoked the reason not to. 1. The polymer group, sir I’m available for purchase. Which is a huge disappointment to me with anything that could possibly be a weak point I like to have extra so with the metal grip, I still have the almost perfect polymer grip in a box as back up although the metal grip feels so much stronger and when you hold it, it makes it feel like it is top-of-the-line aside from the shooting benefits the polymer grip on such a heavy stainless steel slide and frame didn’t give me much confidence if it dropped on a hard surface that the frame would not snap off of the polymer grip. 2. The cheely grip can be used on any 2011 frame so it’s not stuck with this gun. I can use it for as long as it’s not broken. 3. The added stability makes for a much more enjoyable, shooting experience (my opinion) namely it assist with perceived recoil and muzzle, Rize.but thank you for watching and taking the time to share that sounds awesome and very interesting I’d definitely like to see that when it’s done ! Let me know how it turns out.

    • @loquette1
      @loquette1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @americantrucker9813 the cheely grip is not off the table for me, after I get it all back together I'll consider it I've already gone over budget on this upgrade and figured if I do it, I'll upgrade my Staccato P with the Cheely or Infiniti grip we'll just have to see, but your Prodigy is looking damn good.

    • @americantrucker9813
      @americantrucker9813  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@loquette1 thank you I definitely appreciate that and I would suggest if you do get the cheely grip go with the E2 grip unconfident, you will like it better don’t get me wrong I love the L2 grip is what I have had in my hand, my entire life, but the grip safety is a liability with the aluminum grip. I had to disable mine because many of times, I didn’t engage it far enough, but if you look at the atlas lineup, all of them have the aluminum E2 grip. Clearly, the CZ style grip contour is superior or they wouldn’t have them on all of their guns. In fact, they don’t even offer the L2 grip style

    • @loquette1
      @loquette1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @americantrucker9813 I agree, I was considering the E2 over the L2, but I had already had my grip safety PVD coated and I couldn't use it with the E2 but as I said before well see how it all comes out, also if your not familiar check out Infinity firearms I may have to start saving for one of those builds or make my Staccato a hybrid.

    • @americantrucker9813
      @americantrucker9813  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@loquette1 infinity is definitely interesting. They have some of the sweetest custom guns I have ever seen, but I am saving for the atlas NYX V2. It is so expensive I know but they seem to sell very fast used for around 4500 bucks so if I can on the gun for a couple of years and if I ever needed to sell it if I only lose 1500 bucks on it then that’s not too bad but I probably will never sell it unless I really had to.

    Took my 5 inch barrel out for a spend yesterday ran a couple of different ammo brands like Federal, blazer and magtech. It did fine after a couple of rounds but the magtech ammo would not run at all. I was having failure to feed and slide would not go into battery after each shot.

    • @americantrucker9813
      @americantrucker9813  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’d say run 500 rounds of the ammo that works ( I recommend Selliors & bellot 124 or 115 gr) and you’ll wear down the friction points like the cerakote all over the frame rails and internals and than she should run anything and everything. Allot of people put a heavier recoil spring to force the slide shut you can do that recoil spring are cheap but I’d recommend switching back to the original as soon as you break it in because a light recoil spring really really helps with reliability and reduces overall wear on the gun as well as the nose dive when she locks back up. Because a lighter spring allows a slower slide return which helps feed more reliable your problem sounds like friction. You can save money and simply polish those key spots with sand paper but it’s better to let the gun break in the spots naturally I only polish my feed ramp when it needs it which is when it stop’s shining but very very light polishing as to not remove material causing it to fall out of spec. Hope this helps and thank you for sharing!
