    I used to work as a nurse. In accident and emergency tubigrip is used for sprains and it’s great for providing needed support for injuries and swelling. Worth getting and keeping in the first aid kit too. You can gently wash it a number of times too. Great video.Good tip with the self sticking tape I’ve got some already and it’s handy stuff, I protect my finger with it when drumming. You two are so entertaining, love you both.

    I've had lymphedema since a traffic accident in 2017 and tried all manner of things with the aid of Duke Lymphedema clinic and their wound clinic (the latter when I developed a bad skin infection that ate a hold in my calf). The most effective (but messy) treatment was Unna's boot (look it up; basically it's a bandage soaked in something like calamine lotion) with Coban around the outside, which is sometimes called a "Duke boot." This is hard to apply on yourself and requires some expertise to get right. It helps to leave it on for a while, which means showering with waterproof bag on your leg that you can get from a pharmacy.
    I've also used custom-made Velcro-type compression garments that work pretty well and are easy to put on and take off. The only problem is that they throw off my balance a little and they'e a little cumbersome.
    I'm definitely going to try the Tubagrip!
    As you guys say, it's very important not to get a tourniquet effect. It's also critical to take good care of your skin, using a moisturizing lotion after showering. A dermatologist can give you a prescription for a cream to deal with inflammation.

      @Dan Skofich Hahaha! I googled "choric muscle cramps" before realizing you meant chronic, lol.
      Anyway, I had the same problem, mostly in my calves - really terrible cramps, esp at night n when I awoke in the morning - until I started taking magnesium, specifically 1-1/4 tsp of Bulk Supplements powdered magnesium citrate (no gut effects).
      This eliminated the problem for me completely. And it was surprising to me that I even needed it considering the amount of dark leafy greens I eat. Now, however, after many videos on the subject of electrolyte deficiencies, I have reduced my qty to 3/4 tsp of the powdered citrate & added 2 capsules of magnesium glycinate (for a total of around 400-500 mg magnesium), plus added 1/2 tsp potassium citrate. The result is the same; I just knew that most people, incl myself, are deficient in potassium, so added it as well. However, my cramps went away for several years w just the magnesium. And it has the added bonus of decreasing anxiety & improving sleep as well!
      So if you listen to videos about the symptoms of both magnesium & potassium deficiency, they will list muscle cramps for both. But in practice, in the comments, I have observed that most people find relief w just the magnesium. But you may have to experiment to find the best dosage for yourself. I know I did, & anything less that 1-1/4 tsp of the powdered would begin to bring some cramping back; but 1-1/4 tsp, divided into 1/2 tsp in morning, 1/2 tsp late afternoon & 1/4 tsp before bed, eliminated them completely. However, even if I took it ALL before bed, the results were the same, so how it is divided may not be a factor. I just like to spread it out
      Anyway, good luck, Dan, & I hope you find this info to be of some help to you.

I have tried compression socks to no avail. (Two different types) The swelling causes pain and makes it hard to sleep. I also noticed the better my sleep, the less my ankle would swell
    The best thing to keep my ankle from swelling was doing slow jogs for 10-20 minutes on my rebounder, then the good sleeping

    Hi Bob and Brad maybe you could give me an opinion?
    I am 65 healthy 6.3 male without any issues.
    Recently I noticed in the lower
    Right interior knee area a small discomfort in what seems to be the stretching of the ligament, when I shift the leg in certain positions. There is no permanent pain or anything noticeably abnormal
    But I am trying to prevent an unnecessary tear or rupture because I neglected the issue.
    I play ping pong which is an easy sport with no too much stress on the legs or joints so the last time I played the discomfort was more obvious but not intolerable when extending or twisting while moving in certain type of shots. Then after a while the discomfort shifted more to the center of the knees so I stopped before I create any damage or stress it unnecessarily.
    I never had any injuries previously but I noticed this pain a few weeks ago and related it to one knee hitting another while sleeping sideways, I thought that was the origin, so now i wrap one with a cushion to prevent that.
    Because of covid I have probably lost strenght in my muscles and joints for the lack of my habitual exercise but still I don't remember injuring it any other way.
    I decided to buy some knee wraps or braces that will arrive soon.
    I did some of the twisting motion exercise you recomended in a video and I did notice standing on the bad leg that with twisting the interior ligament does stretch and mildly hurt so I am concerned.
    It doesn't seem that resting or taking time off will improve this, but I still don't see an urgency to see a doctor, do you think I should try some strength exercises at the gym or maybe walking daily to correct this?
    Thanks for your time and consideration.
    Al

    • @BobandBrad
      @BobandBrad  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, knee strengthening exercises and wrapping and protecting it as best you can is good. Sometimes minor things can take it’s time to heal and when we keep reinjurying the same area, it’s a long process. Avoid doing things that cause it pain for a few weeks and hopefully that will give it time to heal properly.

      hey fyi that's called heat edema and a lot of people get it. sometimes it's due to salt loss (sweating doesn't help) but sometimes just due to expanding blood vessels and gravity. in my lay person opinion this would probably help especially if due to heat causing expansion of blood vessels.

I would like to use the tubigrip with the toes covered to their ends when I am walking on carpeting at home. I have this problem because of lymphedema. The first thing you stat out with is the socks, well I have tried them over and over, but they won’t stay up. I’m a big lady and my legs are shaped different from others. The minute I stand up, they start to roll. I have tried many different kind of socks, and even the tube wrap you used and nothing works. Do you have any suggestions that I can try? Thank you

      Try using the tape shown in the video to keep them up! It's called Coban tape.

    On swollen feet and ankles ALL compression stockings tighten around the ankle, like between two links of sausage. Will this tube cloth do the same? I don't want to waste more money.

    What to do if your weak ankles need constant ankle braces on? It looks like I had a turniqet (sp) on, preventing lymph flow! Catch 22?

    • @BobandBrad
      @BobandBrad  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You may have to continue to wear the braces. Have you tried the exercises for walk ankles to strengthen them?

    This didn't work for me as the swelling moved to my toes, I ended up buying diabetic tube socks on Amazon and due to the large size of my feet, ankles and calves the super large diabetic socks easily slipped over and provided a light compression from the toes to my knees

    • @BobandBrad
      @BobandBrad  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Are they working for you?

    • @Epiha
      @Epiha 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BobandBrad Yes. I was actually surprised, and relieved that I no longer need to elevate my leg (on some days) I sit most of the day, however I have worn these daily since I got them in September. They are the Diabetic Over the Calf socks from Amazon, I did not intentionally buy them for compression purposes I was just tired of my legs swelling above my calf length diabetic socks. Another discovery is with the even fit from toe to knee I have to re-tighten my shoe laces and keen sandals to accommodate my now normal sized feet and toes. Additionally, it is nice to see my ankles again.

    • @Epiha
      @Epiha 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BobandBrad Forgot to mention I bought the leg elevation and bed wedge from your videos earlier this year to manage my leg swelling. I can't sleep without the wedge and I used to use the leg elevation pillow whenever my legs swelled badly. Not needed now with my over the calf diabetic socks.
