I really want to read Viola Davis. I loved her in the help. She’s great! ❤

I think you would really like this one! Highly recommend as an audiobook

I'm so glad you loved The Postcard! I think I was lucky because I read it early enough that I didn't actually know that it was based so much on her family that I wondered what was true and what wasn't until after I finished the book.

It was such a good book! Thank you for the recommendation. I think knowing that it was based on her family made it really meaningful even if I spent too much time thinking about it 😅

Thank you for the shout out 😊 I definitely think Ancillary Justice is confusing at the beginning for sure and destabilizing to get into haha
I liked that overall but also absolutely agree with your thoughts and also the way female gender was the default was super interesting and it was fun to consider how that was coloring my perceptions

Thank you for the recommendation! I don't read a ton of sci-fi so it was so fun to try out something new. It was really interesting!

It definitely helped to hear your thoughts on Viola Davis book! I've seen it everywhere and people seemed to love it, so ive been intrigued, but I'm totally in that spot not really aware of her much as a person.

It is always weird to read a celebrity memoir without knowing the celebrity but this one was really worth it!

I'm glad you two enjoyed A Wrinkle in Time. Here's a few of my favorite middle grade books of late: Where the Mountain Meets the Moon and When the Sea Turned to Silver by Grace LIn (anything by her really, The Year of the Dog is good too). I thought The Wild Robot by Peter Brown was so charming (and I don't like robot books). The illustrations are adorable. The second book was pretty good, but I didn't care for the third book in that series. I liked the Trapped! series by James Ponti if you want a mystery/adventure. And if you want some fantasy, I liked The Star of Kazan and Which Witch? by Eva Ibbotson.

Thank you so much! I will put all of these on the list and see what she goes for. It is always a mystery what book she will decide she wants to read 😅

If your daughter likes suspense, thriller books, The Silver Crown is fantastic, if kinda scary. It was written by Robert C. O'brien, (The Rats of Nimh). Or, a great book that is very funny and very memorable is The Shadow Thieves by Anne Ursu. Cannot recommend it too much. Such a fun read. Funny and suspensful.

Also, I didn't read them, but kids always LOVED the Warriors series by Erin Hunter, especially if they were cat fans.

Also, Warriors series by Erin Hunter. Not sure if adults get into it as much, but kids live it.

@@tmtb80 Thank you so much for the recommendations! I am putting them on the list for her right now. We will have to see what she decides. I usually give her a few books to pick from and I am always surprised to see what she decides.
