You Have a TINY Book in You. Write It.

- You can write a TINY book today. You don’t need to have a talent. You don’t need to have an extraordinary life. You don’t need to have a big audience. These days you don’t even need a contract with a publisher. I had none of those things, and yet I published a tiny book - one of my proudest achievements in 37 years.
You can do that too.

Read your bits. All made me laugh. I especially liked the similes you used in your concise writing example that you deleted.😂
@@sherylbailey2783 😆Thanks for your interest, Sheryl!🙏
You must have deleted your reply, but I’ll respond to what remains.
1). The H in “humble” IS pronounced!
2). The “rules” for English are neither consistent or simple, so listen and pay attention.
3). It’s not “wich”, it’s WHICH.
4). “Appreciable” is incorrect. The word you should have used is APPRECIATED.
"Don't do it for the money" is the best advice. When you are free from that pressure, things just come out differently.
I have been writing puns daily for over one and a half years. Now, I have over 5000 of them. Your video inspires me to publish them. I want to add a little humor to the world. Thanks for the great message.
Yes! I think you should do that!
Yes please do! My husband would love it!
You done yet?!

"Failed author" "struggling writer/artist" TINY AUTHOR
That changes the story completely. It's a better, more empowering belief to have.
Why not just say "author". Why can't u give yourself that?
@@macaroon147 fair enough, I guess it's still another way of not taking myself seriously, trying not to, thank you :))

This isn’t just a video about writing a book. I hear this message as a call to take whatever idea or vision you have and just make something, anything of it. Turn it into a small project that you will share with people.
Well done. Great message!
@@gronksteady What you've described here is one of the purposes of my channel. Glad you spot that! Thanks.
“A book can be anything you want” amen to that
I have a picture book in my head 30 pages about my experience growing up on the autism spectrum I’m going to finish it this summer and I pray it makes enough I can buy my mom a house every one else here can do it too and with enough practice and patience we can all achieve our dreams
Good luck!
take it from your mind to paper my friend, the world need your art!
The world needs to know more about what it’s like to grow up with autism! You’ll help so many parents to better understand their children. Thank you for doing this!
❤❤❤May God Almighty bless your good intentions and make your book a classic for all time and international bestseller and grant you abundance and buy your mum and yourself a house and open many centres for those who suffer from autism in shaa Allah ameen ❤❤❤
God bless, and good luck. 🙏💜🙏💜
Another word for procrastination is "allowing the process to unfold". Great presentation.
Agreed
Yep, putting it on the back burner and letting it percolate.
Agreed. I feel 'procrastination' has become SUCH an unhelpful word. Inaccurate and such a negatively judgemental generalisation. We don't go up to an apple tree that's forming buds and tell it to 'stop procrastinating and get on with the apples'. 😆
Me: Clicks on this video after saving it to my "Watch Later" playlist. Decides that this is a great video to watch before bedtime. Then I got inspired and encouraged, and immediately opened up something I was writing half-heartedly. Now I'm going to give it my all. Thank you for the inspiration.
A sidenote: I would rather read a 90-page book than a "big" book. The "bigger" the book, the less time I think I'll have to read it. So tiny books are a great idea for people who want to read but don't have time to read a book for days.
Suggestion: A tiny author Facebook group or community sounds like a great idea for those of use who have been inspired here.
Thank you! And so great to hear you took action right away!
Frankenstein and Dracula are both books made from collections of letters, written correspondents, like blog posts.
I think your description is misleading: neither of these authors collected letters from correspondents. These are novels in epistolary form. The authors pretend to be different people and the story emerges through letters between characters, instead of through chapters. The novels tell dramatic stories with protagonists, antagonists, conflict, beginning, middle, and resolution. That’s not at all like collecting letters written by real people who aren’t trying to tell a cohesive story.
@@maargenbx1454 You're talking about the provenance of the product. I am talking about the product itself. The product was a collection of letters. That's how it was formatted and presented, regardless of how the letters were acquired.
@@TreeLuvBurdpu You’re the one talking about provenance, implying the letters were collected from correspondents. They were not. The letters weren’t acquired by the authors - they were written by the authors. These are novels written AS IF (but not actually) made up of letters between different people, none of whom actually existed.
@@maargenbx1454 I should have been more specific in my initial post of what exactly I was referring to, instead of making you guess. Sorry.
I was referring to the guy who said "It's not a book. It looks like a book, but it's a collection of blog posts"
That's wrong. Some of the greatest books are a collection of correspondences, journal entries, blog posts, letters, etc.
@@TreeLuvBurdpu I knew what you were referring to. Of course some great books are collections of letters, short stories, etc. A good example would be Churchill’s “Letters for the Ages”, a collection of Churchill’s correspondence. ‘Dracula’ and ‘Frankenstein’ aren’t collections - they’re epistolary novels.
the people complaining its blog posts, don't know their history. A bunch of Charles Dickens' works were published in serialized series in newspapers and later assembled into books. And honestly how would that be different from a blog post?
Good point. Someone left a similar comment before: "Frankenstein and Dracula are both books made from collections of letters, written correspondents, like blog posts."
Also Samuel Clemens wrote for papers and collections were compiled and made into books
@@fabiocerpelloni exactly!
Many of the most famous novels of all time, including The Count of Monte Cristo, The Time Machine, War and Peace, The Hound of the Baskervilles, and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, were originally published as "serial novels" - i.e., bit by bit in newspapers or magazines.
@@Mark-cq1mo I'm learning so much from your comments, guys. Thank you!🙏
Fabio, you are such a “ real” person.”No market research…”This is one of the best videos on writing any book.Thank you so much 🌿💐
Highly motivating,will start today.
Very Inspiring
I love that you said dont do it for money; do it for fun and feeling good about it.
This video came in at the right time. I have been struggling with writing for a few days now.
So funny
What are you writing and why do you feel stuck, if I may ask?
Years for me. I reckon it is time to stop struggling and start writing.
Nice pfp, berserk is top tier stuff
I’m surprised this popped up. I haven’t said anything near my phone, but I am writing a tiny book.
Perhaps it's reading your mind now, scary
I replied to a comment in an ADHD video and talked about managing my life in "baby steps". (I dont have to clean the entire kitchen - I can clean one drawer. ) So I don't have to write a book for the world - I can record a few paragraphs of memories or insights for my grandkids. ❤️
Technology can read minds now. I have experienced it.
@@victorlewis1890 Same :(
As someone who is into fantasy and all the popular books are huge this is great to hear
Same here. I boxed up my fantasy novels in progress because I did not want them to be100's of pages. Shall now open up the boxes and carry on with them the way I wanted. As the saying goes 'Less is more'. I shall decide the length each one needs rather than adhering to the 'norm' for this genre.
Fabio, congratulations! 🎉 The Little Prince is a tiny book but contains a strong message. ❤
I read that many years ago. I can't remember its message.😅 Shame on me.
Google says: The Little Prince teaches us the importance of taking responsibility for our actions and decisions. He learns this lesson from his responsibility towards the rose he has tamed on his home planet. ❤
@@fabiocerpelloniI would say it’s about friendship and loyalty and learning to live in the moment and notice what’s really important. And love. The little prince loved his flower and the fox he tamed. And the aviator loved the little prince.
And one of my favorite stories!
It’s about the writing, for the love of words, love of literature, love of writers, love of books, love of stories…and maybe one day publishing.
This is one of the most sincere & authentic videos I've come across TH-cam in a long time.
Thank you Fabio Cerpelloni
I've had a tiny book in mind for decades! Thank you kindly sir😊
❤❤❤ "You dont have to ask for permission.. "
It's rude to comment on the size of my book. We haven't even met.
Exactly. It’s not the size that matters. It’s the content 🤭
😅
🤭🤭🤭
What? No one "commented" on the size of your "book"
❤😂🎉😅
I haven't any clue how this popped into my feed, but damn if it wasn't just what I needed to hear! Thank you
Thank you Fabio! You've removed all the excuses that we typically have for not writing the book that is within us. It's taken all the pressure off!
This is the most authentic, sensitive, and intelligent video I've heard lately; thank you.
Thank you, thank you, thank you 🙏
"Do you have the desire to help somebody else?" FANTASTIC. Thank you.🙏
I am definitely not anyone that ever dreamed of writing a book. But last year I wrote a 135 pg book and self published on Amazon.
It’s titled “the Gospels of the book of Revelation”
I’ve sold about 14 copies lol
But I did enjoy the process, so much so I started writing another one a couple of weeks ago.
I don’t know when I’ll finish but I’m about 50 pages in and I think this one will be longer than the last one. Maybe I’ll hit 200 pages this time lol
Bless you, this message is perfect.
Agree! "A book can be anything you want" ❤👌👏👏 Great vid, thank you 🙏💕
Thank-you. I’ve outlines for four tiny books for several years…
Tiny books for tiny houses. Into it. Tiny for me. Thank you.
Great talk about writing and books and self-publishing... This was very helpful and inspiring.
I think the book, Jonathan Livingston Seagull would qualify. Lovely story.
That's a terrific reminder.
Like sometimes you want a snack. Sometimes you want a huge meal🤔...very cool
Sometimes the whole fridge.
This video title is the seed of another of your tiny books.
Thanks, great video. The cascading effect of your writing a book has reached me in this little village in Africa.
I have a collection of 101 poems ready for publishing, and working on a story.
So thank you for the inspiration to keep going.
Wow! That's so cool!
I am now a tiny researcher. ^_^ That somehow makes me feel better. I am a mouse going about my research which I will one day make a tiny book out of. ❤
It’s ironic because the book I’ve received the most value from was only 10 pages. I want to write a book but for some reason have been telling myself ‘it has to be at least 100 pages, it has to have at least 5 chapters, blah blah blah’ and it’s only making me procrastinate because it’s overwhelming. This was a refreshing message that I can just keep it small and simple and that’s better than nothing.
Love the mindset change here! Great!!!
I LOVE the concept of being a tiny author and writing a tiny book!
And I also feel seen AND called out with procrastination, especially going to the fridge 😂.

@@fabiocerpelloni Thank YOU Fabio. I just opened a collection of what you would call "little books". A collection of random writing over many years. A total of over 40k words. I never checked that before. So, my little book has a BIG brother hiding in the attic and waiting to be edited. In publishing terms, it seems that's over 130 pages. Now I need help with that. I wouldn't have come this far had I not seen your video!
@@koullakoshiaris4561 That's so great. What makes you say that you need help? What exactly is the challenge?
@@fabiocerpelloni I've gone from two little pieces of a little book to many many pages. The stories are a sort of painful memoir I wanted to write and collect. Now it can be called a body of work.
