1998 Ford Ranger - 2.5 liter engine - 5 speed manual transmission. This vehicle failed the smog test yesterday and I was told the ECU or OBD readings were the reason. It also said this on the paperwork, everything else passed the smog test except the OBD part of it. I replaced the battery a month ago and the smog technician said perhaps I need to drive some on the freeway to get the vehicle's ECU to cycle through and remember the needed checks. I went out today first thing and turned on the ignition and waited, the check engine light never blinked after waiting 15-60 seconds so the method in this video did not work. I will either buy a $10-$15 OBD2 tester or go by Autozone as I think they let you use theirs for free, and then post up the results.
Hello, I am interested in purchasing a 2019 Ford Explorer 12,000 miles. The dealer said that it has not passed emissions testing due to failed monitors. They have been trying to get this car to pass the emissions test for a week due to the failed monitors according to the dealer. He did not explain it very well. Should I even still be considering purchasing this vehicle or look elsewhere? Should it be concerning that a car with 12k miles cannot pass an emissions test? Thank you!
06 Mustang GT … never had c.e.l. But bought new Die Hard battery.. & havnt drive car much.. work in next City & gas is so expensive.. I drive Honda Civic to work.. thing is… try to get Mustang inspected yesterday.. kept saying NOT READY..3 different times.. after driving 50 plus- then 100 miles.. seen your video this morning..& did the turn key an wait..& it blinks like 7 times.. but after I start car.. no light.. what should I do??

My 99 Expedition does not have the Check Engine symbol in the dash, I waited over 15 seconds several times and still nothing, I have been trying for over 5 years to get this damn car to clear it's codes, 2 mechanics have told me to take my car, they have given up. I think Ford should be sued, how can I smog my car if the vehicle will not allow it. I am in Ca. I have already complained most feverishily to them so they got my point. Any ideas thanks in advance
@@RANDOMFIX So my mechanic tried to do The Drive Cycle he had the car for over 2 weeks, they tired everything, and they could not get it to clear, so they gave it back to me, then I called Bureau of Repair, I was told to go to the dealer, so I did, they claimed to clear it, I have been looking fort days to find my reader, I need it it is closed, figures, I am sorry for being negative and I really appreciate the help, I do not want to bring it back to the smog AGAIN, they are the second shop that gave up on it. I check again I do not have the classic check engine light for this car. I will probably just buy another reader, do you have one to recommend that is easy to use? Thanks again
So like you said on 2010 and newer the vehicle has to delete the permanent code. If no CEL but it has a permanent code it means there’s something wrong? I got no CEL but it shows a permanent code. Code P053f
VERY nice guy but unfortunately he is unorganized and was neither precise nor detailed. At almost every minute of his video I found missing info or saying things that may be wrong or not fully inclusive. There is no way a logical person can follow his instructions and succeed. Yes, he himself followed written directions by FORD but most steps are unrealistic or very difficult to accomplish because you will be driving on public roads and will be impossible to time everything as stated by idiotic Ford - in other words do not consider FORD a reliable source either. Many FORD professionals hate the company and with a passion!!! because FORD have created chaos throughout the years. All in all, I was just expecting someone at TH-cam to DECIPHER Ford's nonsense and show what I need to do for code readiness. This is not a good video to do that.

First off, I am sorry for providing negative feedback - in retrospect, I overeacted due to momentary & ovewhelming frustration of not finding accurate info on how to clear codes. My issue is very simple: I replaced the Fuel Pump (in gas tank) of my 2001 Ford Ranger 4.0L XLT (4WD, auto- transmission). In the process I had to disconnect the battery and remove the fuel pump relay (for safety). Everything went smoothy (no dash lights stay on after starting the engine), and took the truck (I live in Texas) for State Inspection (drove about 8 miles after fixing and reconnecting the battery). I was not aware that codes do not clear immediately after a replacement or battery reconnection and during the state inspection the CATALYST and EVAP came out "Not Ready". I was told by the inspection mechanic that i need to drive the truck about 100 miles for codes to clear.!!! Wow! I am surprised and thought there got to be a better/faster way. I have a Blue Driver code reader but i could not find good info on WHAT EXACTLY IS NEEDED to clear those codes. And that is what led me explore TH-cam, which is 'infected' with misinformation and non-sense. To be really honest, YOU have the most relevant info but? .... still I could not follow verbatim. You do provide lots of info.... I just wish they were more methodically organized/ presented. At this time I don't know how to clear those "Not Ready" codes. YES, if you can help I'd greatly appreciate it. THANKS for being such a positive person and replying to my negative remark (I wish I could have in me some of your priceless positiveness!!)

Here is the Texas data www.dps.texas.gov/section/vehicle-inspection/faq/emissions-testing and I too moved to Texas 3 months ago but have no smog requirements in my county. www.dps.texas.gov/section/vehicle-inspection/faq/emissions-testin Effective October 15, 2008: For vehicles year model 2001 and newer, we allow one (1) non-continuous monitor to be Not Ready and still pass the test, but two (2) or more Not Ready's will cause the vehicle to fail. So now you just need to complete one more monitor to set, I would focus on the Catalyst as you can't do much about the evap other than keep your fuel between 1/3 to 3/4 and park on a level surface. For the catalyst here is the complete incomplete catalyst playlist th-cam.com/video/BuZYAy_xi0E/w-d-xo.html and I would focus hard on the first video and hold it for 4 minutes vs the 3 minutes as it's colder this time of year. Be sure engine temp is above 170. An open thermostat will never let the O2 sensors to reset

Is the check Engine light bulb in the dash? What specifically did the mechanic say as to issue?
