Thank you for the information. I am 50 years old and one month ago went in a strenuous hike. Since then my lower back hurts on/off and especially at night. At times I awake with my toes on my foot cramping and curling up. I'm in Northeast Texas.

Thank you for sharing! I started with completely random, rim of heel pain back in July and went to the chiropractor. I had a heel spur and was told plantar fasciitis. I've since gone to 2 Podiatrists and PT - all addressing plantar fasciitis. (1 podiatrist said spur was so minuscule that I shouldn't give it another thought) I believe it's my back, and chiro & PT have been working on that this month. However, the heel pain has gotten progressively worse - near continuous and more than just the rim - and now the other heel is starting with the random cycles of pain.
Have you ever diagnosed rim of heel pain only?? Could I have sciatica only in the heel? sciatica with no pain in the buttocks or down the leg? I've continued the chiropractic care and physical therapy since July, and while I think it has been good for me, I'm still worse off than when I started. Any suggestions you can offer would be so greatly appreciated! Thank you, Dr. Schneider!

What about MIDDLE back pain? I am in so much pain and my GP told me today that it's bcse of ageing (I'm 76) or posture. I also have dropped metatarsals but the orthodics were awful over the years, so I gave up. GPs response was just as u said! HOW do I get help in the UK? How do I know how to find a good Podiatrist? I am in Birmingham.

Foot issues can certainly cause middle back pain too, but is more often the cause of low back pain. I don't have any direct knowledge of podiatrists in the UK. My recommendation is to contact the Royal College of Podiatry for a recommendation. Their website is rcpod.org.uk/.
