    Hands down the best review I've watched on the a7IV. I love that you didn't spend the entire video crying about the 4K/60 crop and what it can't do, instead you gave your professional opinion on your likes and dislikes of the camera. Once again, great review and you gained a new subscriber!

    Your advice on how to set up the IV (my first alpha) helped me a lot when I took this camera into use, which was almost a year ago. I can wholeheartedly state that shooting pictures and film has been an amazing experience from the beginning and I'm still exploring all of it's features. Great review. Keep it up! All the best from Amsterdam 🇱🇺

    Glad that I found this video. This is pretty much the opinion I've been looking for. I'm new to Photography in the way of mirrorless cameras and currently have an A6600 but I'm still within return policy . The one thing I love about the body of the A6600 is all of the custom buttons, and it seems like the A 7iv takes that up more than a notch. I also hate that there's limited functionality with my z-fold 4 and seeing that you also own a fold gives me more confidence that this is the camera for me and that I shouldn't wait for the a7c ii be in stock. More than anything I want the low-light performance, the ability to be able to crop in without much loss and quality, and not having to deal with the 1.5 x crop factor for photos since I do own a full frame 50 mm macro lens right now.
    I will keep the aps-c lenses I have for the 60 p video If I ever decide to do that. Thanks again

    The crop in 4k60 is a problem for videoing real estate . You need that wider angle. So a 16mm become 24 mm, which is too tight. Of course you can change the lens, but it can be a problem depending on the usage. I am looking at this camera for RE video, and I am hesitating right now.

    I watched your videos about the new a7rV vs the A1 and A74 but I'm still on the fence as to which I should get. I already have the GM lenses that I want and I'm replacing my A7r4 because I want better AF. Would you pick up an a7rV over the a74 at this point since I'm replacing the a7r4 or go with another a74? Any and all opinions would be appreciated, Thanks!

      Hi there, I bought the A7RV replacing the A7RIV. The V is a fantastic camera, at least for photo use, esp. landscapes and large BIF where it shines. I guess once you're used to the 42 MP sensor (A99ii, A7RII, A7RIII), or even the 60MP sensor, it is hard to go backwards. Moreover, the A7IV seems to have an anti moire filter which will cost some resolution. Still, it seems that the A7IV is a true jack of all trades... Hope this helps a bit...

      @@SamuelAHess If it cost at leat 500$ less at base price + at least 250$ CASHBACK, I would take it, but today I am thinking of switching from my a6400 to Olympus M43 with OM1. Less costs, less weight, sharp lenses, some cons of difractions if not well controled but still I can see APS-C and MFT are pushing FF away (not so soon, but in a years it will happen for sure).

    thank you for the effort and sharing. i've been doing more events and have used my A7R3 with good results. for my portrait and headshot work, the A7R3 has been fantastic but with events the larger file size slows the camera. i was wondering if an A7IV would be a better body. as for video use, what is your favorite/most used pp on the A7iV? thumbs up.

    • @jeradcamera
      @jeradcamera  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, but only because I already shoot Sony. If I had nothing, it would be a toss up and I would lean towards whatever I could easily get more lenses for. I really like where Canon has gone now that they have a solid mirrorless platform, but Sony has a lot more lens options still.

    • @smalltalk.productions9977
      @smalltalk.productions9977 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      my concerns about the Canon system is Canon's refusal to let Sigma/Tamron and others have access to the RF mount. Sony opening up the E-mount really allows for many more lens options at a wide array of price points. thumbs up.

    I just put a $92,000 down-payment for a $920,000 house and bought a brand new Toyota RAV4 Premium for $41,000 EUR, all this year, all thanks to my good ol' Canon 1DXll, a 13 year old camera... And then you have you people over here, making videos about whether or not cameras that are barely even 1 year old, are still worth using for work?! The amount of videos like this is pure insanity! OF COURSE it's still worth it! The camera just came out less than a year ago! I'm still using my god damn, old DSLR that I bought 13 years ago and you're over here asking if a 10-11 month old camera body is still worth it?! What's the point of this nonsense exactly?!

      @@CapturedByKen Hi! I just saw your reply. My primary source of income are fine art, fashion and beauty editorials but I shoot pretty much everything that gets me paid. If the deal I make is good, in a financial sense, I will do anything from weddings, shows, motorsports events, simple portraits, commercial and advert work and sometimes (but rarely) even boudoir or nude shots or whatever you want to call them. You name it, I'll do it but I'm mostly known for doing fashion, fine art and beauty editorials. I do both on location and studio work and I don't restrict myself to just my town, I accept clients all over the country. Sometimes I will even drive for 7-8 hours just to get where I need but the further away I have to go, the more I charge. (Obviously.) Most people are lazy, even famous photographers, 90% of people are lazy and won't do what I am doing, even if it makes them millions. Imagine how much a famous photographer could earn if they did what I am doing?! They say hard work doesn't pay off but here I am...

    Hi Jerad,
    Thanks for the interesting video. I got my new A74 yesterday and after about 10-15 mins of setting up the menu, it heated up pretty strong. Is this normal? I didn't take more than 15 pictures and no video.
    Thanks a lot for the reply.

    The Joystick is irrelevant on the new Sony cameras. It's only a very old fashioned way of thinking that people still use it to move focus point around. Using a single point and Tracking AF, you can Focus and Recompose however you like, while the camera tracks your subject. Why do you need to use the Joystick? Focus on someone else? Put point on subject and initiate Tracking. Simple. The Tracking is so sticky (if you have set it up correct) that other methods have become irrelevant.

    "I'm going to get sharp photos every single time and the autofocus is going to achieve that for me". Have you tried to shoot runners coming towards the camera ? I have never got more than 70 % sharp pictures. And that is with spot tracking at 6 FPS . With wide zone, it goes down to 30 %. In any case, it is very unreliable for this application.
