My 04 gmc 2500 had the same problem with the steering as yours. When I got the 6inch lift put on and 33 inch tires with 20 inch wheels the steering sucked so we put new idler and pitman arms and still had a lot of play in the steering so we changed out the steering box and it was perfect after that!!

you should not be wiping chrome wheels and car paint surfaces before spraying/rinsing with water. This will get rid of the fine grain of sand on the surface which acts like sandpaper and will cause whirl marks.
