This and Star Citizen are my two most anticipated games. Haven't been this excited about a game since I was a little kid. Awesome stuff guys! Keep up the great work!
We're still discovering stars, even ones close to us such as WISE 1049-5319 which was only just announced 4 days ago and it is 'only' 6.4 light years away. Amazing to think how much of our knowledge has expanded since Frontier was released.
I really loved the hyperspace analyzer and being able to jump to the co-ordinates with my better engine and arrive there before my target, then waiting around and watching them exit straight into my LAZERS! Glorious memories.
Something unforgotten is the manual docking process to a Station, as well es the driving music from the docking computer. That should possibly work in the known manner just for nostalgic reason :)
I spend weeks of my life playing Elite on my Commodore 64 and later on my Amiga 500, but I have hardly played any games at all over the last twenty years. But, I'll be playing the hell out of Elite Dangerous. It's going to be amazing!
It will have a rich collaboration of player led missions and will be a massive open world sandbox game by in large. Its what people have always liked, and in fact alot of games nowadays have moved to sandbox models. It may be featureless under your expectations. And for that I recommend you play Star Citizen (which I will be too) But this game still has alot of positives. Its scope and the potential to populate worlds with rich economies that are interconnected by player efforts.
The largest ships will be relatively unmaneuverable freighters, like the Anaconda and Python, which would have room for lots of shields and weapons. I've never played EVE, but I don't think it is anything like that. You are flying the ship itself and not giving orders like an Admiral or something.
Like with the earlier elite sequels, procedurally generated, and not as limited as the previous ones (which only had the possibilities of some millions of different star systems). So probably the milky way.
I want to be able to communicate with comrades in the game so that we can rondevous and travel in convoys. and build precious friendships that will be worth having.
It would be very interesting if the game has the possibility to enter into planets and explore your natural recusrso with land vehicles coming out of the spaceship and the millions of planets being generated on its surface fractals That would be an absolute success for several reasons!
Milan Radojčić Frontier and First encounters was pretty much like that, in the 90s as well. So how it is a dream? lol No land vehicles but you could explore a planets surface all the same. Land everywhere too
Ok, ive never played Elite and only dabbled in elite 2 when i was very young, is anyone willing to help me out when the game is launched? would love to learn from a vet.
David Braben has confirmed that the game is going to use a random number world seed which means it will be infinite in size. The only limiting factor will be your computers memory capacity. This involves some very clever mathematics but basically your computer will construct the 'galaxy' as you travel though it. Sounds exciting doesnt't it?
These video's are great and keep us in touch with what's going on at Frontier. There's just one problem with them and its David Braben himself. I wish he'd pay a visit to a dentist and get his horrible teeth sorted out. You're a very wealthy man and you'll be even more so after the release of the game so get your teeth fixed....Please!
Not sure you are the target audience for this game! "The best games" are designed by genius developers like Braben, not the general public that think they know what goes into a great game but really don't. No offence intended by the way, just pointing out that you might not be the best judge of it.

I could sit and listen to David Braben talk about Elite all day. His enthusiasm is infectious! Looking forward to the alpha.

More updates! we love them!
Sounding better and better with every video.
Great stuff :) Getting more and more excited.

I am sure it warms his heart to hear that...
I like the idea of docking internally with a war ship, lightspeed into battle, dismount and defend it. - like an aircraft carrier. :)
That would potentially be awesome!
Remembering that I played the original Elite on an Apple IIc. This is going to be fun
Right On Sir !
Thx dude, Kudos!
Can't wait to play watching this I have gone. Back to playing. Elite. First encounters
Never played any of the previous games...but I am very excited to get my hands on this one.
If it's anything like the old games, we'll have small 15-25 ton fighters and huge 2500 ton freighters with a good mix in between.
I want to hear the new Elite Theme! I hope it will be as awesome as the Elite II one!
Frontier + Amiga + Coffee = Hole in space and time

According to an interview, 100 billion star systems.
All the good news... :)
Elite: Dangerous will contain dynamic storylines.
Yes, Braben and Michael Ende ruined my life. :o)

ILLEGAL!
Conspiracy theorists will ask what is the reason for the musical "chingggg..." at 4.54 just as David mentions the Sidewinder. :)
It just came out today

Goodbye Eve Online. Hello Elite!
i want that song playing in the background :s
It be cool if you could go fps and walk round your ship and look out the windows and stuff.

Keep dreaming...
It will within a year of initial release.

aka the look alike of the man that works in the café in coronation street.
where is the 3rd one I Thought these was going to me monthly?
Will Elite support the Oculus Rift VR headset?
Ok, ive never played Elite and only dabbled in elite 2 when i was very young, is anyone willing to help me out when the game is launched? would love to learn from a vet.
Online and offline will be catered for, you won't need an Internet connection to play.
I have been playing Pioneer Space Sim. If you don't know what it is. It's remake. Of. Elite
Am i correct that this game will require internet connection to play, or will there be some sort of local gameing?
Is there any official word on the actual size of the playable galaxy? (How many stars?)
I don't think so unless Elite evolves into a full-fledged MMO.
Will this make EVE obsolete?
His name is John Smith aka Potato Head.
Is that a sweater of a jumper?
haha :) But Videogames everytime stayed longer than any of the girlfriend I met in my life. So, my longest relationship is my love for games :)
Make it work with Oculus Rift!!!!!!!
200th liker and no dislikes!
I'm not a doctor because i'm squemish, but I'm sure Frontier didn't help. :)
Sure, we can do some trade routes together if we meet up in the game. Or, I may just blast the crap out of you!
lol, just lol.
Not something to be proud of... But at least your honest!

Multiplayer be good minding your own business you get hailed by some one in the game surrender or die
Your "best games" are movies.
Slaves are the only friends you needed as a child anyways. They're not so needy and require less attention. =D
