I'm in Turkey right now. I can't believe how cheap everything is. I would spend a lot more at home in California each day . I think a lot of people don't realize there much better off taking vacations in other countries rather than traveling around the states. So much better to see new places at a fraction of the price.

Hey Ace, that'a a nice place you have there, and you may be happy paying $600 and that's OK for you as a turist, however I gotta tell ya very few people in Colombia can make US$600 a month, let alone afford to pay a rent that high. That apartment should not cost a local any more than $300 US dollars a month. I just looked at a rental page on line for apartments like yours in Barranquilla, and the most expenisve apartment was about $650,000 Colombian pesos a month which under $200 US dollars a month. You see, when if some tells you the rent costs $600 a month they mean 600,000 pesos, and you should always negotiate in pesos because that's how turists get confused. Always, alwways, always negotiate in pesos because when you start converting the money back to dollars you will realize that negotiating prices in pesos is so much cheaper than negotiating in US dollars. Those are my two cents for you Ace, I love Colombia, I'm from Chile but Colombia is like my second home. I'm going back there in december and I'm excited to see how normal things are there now. Thank for your videos, you keep me motivated to go back. God bless, and peace my brother.

I do understand this is* different levels to people's comfortability but I do have to ask did you see the full video where I'm showing you a full kitchen with an oven two bedrooms and two bathrooms plus a gym and pool in a modern building? Please post a link of where you found the same amenities in the same location for that price, we would all love to see it. There are a lot of cheap places all over Colombia but as I mentioned in this video but it all depends on location and amenities. Each city is a little bit more expensive than the next for example Medellin Cartagena Bogota could be very expensive especially if you're in the proper location prices will vary. each of those places the price can fluctuate depending on what you get out of the deal. we're not just thinking about a room in a bed. one thing for sure you get what you pay for. you can look at a website and it'll tell you cheap prices but if you're looking at the wrong neighborhood what's the point? There are places for $150 if you want it. But what do you sacrifice location or will you be sharing an apartment with other people. I could have stayed at a cheaper location near me for under $300 a month but the place was just a studio meaning everything was in one room except the bathroom, with no pool, gym, and bad internet that's not something I want to get into. However, it is still a good deal for those who want to .

He definitely got gringo priced robbed on that place. 630$ is for penthouses and movie stars in Colombia. Average rent is 250$ and as foreigner they jack it up 100 more or 400 tops. Keep in mind that 99% of colombians can't afford 400$ rent.

    • @ACEDTVL
      @ACEDTVL  2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

If you sign a lease which by the way if you are a foreigner is not easy to do, you can get the place for a cheaper price but its Unfurnished no utilities included. because I'm going the air Bnb way it's going to be an extra price. Not to mention you pay For the location you live in. $200 is cute but it's not gonna be in the right area if you are a foreigner let's be honest I'm not trying to live in a the hood when moving out of the country that's backwards. The idea of getting a place for a good deal is still achievable but it all depends on what city you're in and what location. for example Cali Colombia is one of colombia's cheapest real estate areas so you could pretty much find a really good spot similar to mines for around $400 minus the utilities and furniture.

    Great video, Ace.
Your videos inspired me to leave my job last year. I spent some time in Cali, but I think where you are now definitely warrants a look. I'll probably hit that spot up next year when I come back to the US.
I've been in Da Nang for the last 9 months due to the lockdown. I'm paying about $300 USD. Nice accommodations, but I think when I come back I'll rent a villa. I'll probably try to get the best place possible for $500. My original budget was $750/mo for housing, but in Vietnam I didn't even need to come close to that.
In CA, where I'm from your place would be $2500 easy before utilities. In SF it would probably approach $4000.

I think I'm staying at a place you stayed. Close enough to the beach but still quiet.
As far as reopening, no one has a clue. But probably similar to you, I would rather be locked in here where my total spend per month is around $800 USD than in the US.

The most I ever paid was 390 dollars for a four-bedroom house. The bedrooms were super large. I think my master bathroom was bigger than your bedroom. I don't like the apartments. The rooms are way too small. Also, many have unprotected balconies as you have. Too easy to for someone to get thrown over. I had to buy my own furniture though. I lived there for many years.
The least I ever paid was 116 dollars. I always lived in estrato 5
Renting in Colombia is very difficult. I'm surprised you didn't mention that. I guess if you do Airbb it isn't. Otherwise unless you have to Colombian cosigners, you'll have to pay 6 months in advance if they have that as an option.

That’s too much for Barranquilla right now (but not too too much). You also have to add that food is much cheaper, no insane car note, car insurance, etc. taxis and public transportation is very cheap there. A date won’t cost you 150 either.

I got family in Miami Gardens. I know it's expensive as hell down there. The prices in Colombia seem very good. This is coming from a man living in north Florida.

Thanks for the video bro, I have a serious question...if I wanted to love to Colombia, what would be a good amount I should come with saved up to hit the ground running?

Good video ACE! What’s the building’s name? I’m interested in this type of bargain. Did you sign a month to month contract or it has a minimum time like 3, 6, 9 or 12 months?? I’d appreciate your answer

I'm sure there are income tax implications if you are in Colombia for more than six months Ace. Came back from Bucaramanga last week and am looking to go back and stay for 90 days. But I'm also looking at the ramifications of staying past 6 months as gates as taxes are concerned.
