That's a gimmick in my opinion, if i constantly have to take the key in and out the box/bag I might as well turn off the passive entry it cheaper. Also the box and bag do nothing for thieves breaking windows and stealing the cars, that's what's really taking place. At least in our area they are using a device they plug into the diagnostic port and reprogramming a key to the car. They are breaking windows and climbing inside the car and as long as a door doesn't open the vehicles factory alarm isn't making any noise.
I agree! It’s sad we have to do any of it. I use the faraday box for at home. However I also keep my vette in a garage blocked by other vehicles. Hate to stereotype but if you can afford a vette maybe don’t daily it. Drove it for pleasure only and don’t take it anywhere where it’s out of sight for long. Turn off passive entry, get alarm, get LoJack. All the precautions we can do just to enjoy a toy. Make sure you have full coverage insurance that covers all your accessories as well. Breaking windows or using the OBDII port is the method these days. Most we can do is deter. At the end of the days it only takes a crooked tow truck to pull up hook and pull off. Sad but it’s reality. Awesome video. Very informative 👍🏽
I'm not mad at you and I would want to do the same, there are new products constantly hitting the market place every day. I just saw a digital license plate with tracker, It makes a clone of your actual plate with registration and can be updated through 34 out of 50 of states DMV currently. While sitting at car shows or the vehicle is parked you can run custom displays across the plate and if your car is stolen you can put the information in an app and the license plate will flash stolen across the plate and the module for the plate has a tracker built in and can be hidden in multiple locations through out the car. Its a great alternative but to me I still want a notification the car is being tampered with not just options to help recover it after its gone .
Great insight, just want to add an extra measure of protection against theft. What i also want to know is, where did you get the headrests with the Corvette emblem from?
I added GPS trackers to my car, my concern was more of car jackings than theft initially. As time has progressed theft is growing which has put alarms back on the radar as an extra measure and I know a couple of owners who cars stay in parking garages that have added them. No complaints about any malfunctions just the inconvenience of "actually using the key fob." The emblems in my headrest are embroidered patches that were sealed with heat and adhesive glue on the back. I don't remember the site I got them from but they've been on there for over 3 years. There is a custom interior shop in the Aurora, IL area that will actually remove the headrest and due a real stitching of the emblem in the seat. That was my fall back plan when the patches fell off the seat but I've been surprised that they have been hanging on strong for so long. I would have to look up the shop's information again but they always participate in one of the biggest custom car shows in the Chicagoland area every year in late Feb Called "World Of Wheels." At worst case I'll get the information this upcoming Feb and create a video about hidden Custom Gems in the Chicagoland area after the show.
So true but that's part of that living in a townhome complex with a one car attached garage, his motorcycle and slingshot take up the garage and you end up parking in the parking lot parking spots with your car.
That's one way to look at it but several of the video's out there with cars being stolen are them sitting outside at dealerships, in driveways overnight, in mall/restaurant parking lots and housing condo's or business parking garages. Most of the thefts happen at night time but a lot of the thefts from parking garages happen during business hours when people are on the clock.
The answer is NO! Most Corvettes that are being stolen require time alone with the car or it's a carjacking. I have 3 different tracking devices on my car, I installed 2 of them within the first 2 weeks of buying my car. So recovering the car after an incident was high on my priority list. The car thefts became more of a factor this year, I was introduced to several alarm options in 2022 but I didn't see the point of installing one back then. Like I stated in the video, I turned off my passive entry so using a frequency extender to steal my car doesn't work. Also like I mentioned before you need time alone with the car, my car isn't typically parked anywhere for long stints without security. A lot of Corvettes that are stolen are parked on streets or in parking lots and driveways overnight. That's not a normal situation I leave my car in and even when I travel with the car I always stay at hotels that have a security service monitoring their parking lot. If I knew my C8 would've been utilized like my C7, meaning I was staying out all night and often left it parked on the streets or in a driveway of a friends house while we grouped up in another car and hung out... then yes I would definitely consider getting a car alarm. Honestly I would get the one that says you are to close to the vehicle could you please step back when it detects a person within 3 feet of the car. But more specifically I have no intent on keeping my current corvette past this year so I don't really see a point in installing an alarm on a car I'm about to unload. When I purchase my next vette it will be an option I strongly consider. In the end, I'm just recommending another option to help Corvette owners protect their car; being in the car community and not just Corvettes you experience a lot of car thefts and different options people use to prevent it. Sharing the information is all we can do and let people make their own decisions.
Put your keys in a Faraday box or bag. It prevents the signal from the key from going pass the box or bag. Kind of like RFID but for your keys.

MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN 👍👍
Don't live in crack house and spend all your dope money on a corvette that you can't garage. 🤣

Key words, Do you have a Car Alarm on your Vet?
