While I'd been a fan since the college kids down the street in the 70's turned me on to them, I finally went and saw them at the University of Utah student union "Union Ballroom" with no expectations out of them live more than any other band. I was blown away! I've still never seen a live band that rocked harder. People who don't know sell them short, but they are an A list musical talent. FWIW.

Ministry actually having been aroind for the synth pop era and then being the first relevant industrial metal band maybe skinny puppy as well. Like the DEVO Girl You want cover BY soundgarden.

I know Devo has the right to cover anything they please. But it's just tht we're so used to listening them in synths and new wave that this kind of alienates us. But then again, great job. They might do well in the trash metal scene.
Devo had a guitar and a bass since day one, plus they played fucking punk. I dont see the alienation in covering, specifically, a rather synthethic song from a rather synthethic band. If anything, it makes sense that Devo gives respect to people they actually influenced.

The point in calling Devo punk is how they did whatever they wanted , with the means they had, in the way they wanted. It doesnt get punker than that. Ironically the most punk thing was not be a punk, if that makes sense. NIN on the other hand were just repeating a winning fórmula. While I love their first récords, theyre not innovators per se. And me , personally and particularly, reject the use of "industrial" for rock bands with electronic elements. NIN is not like Throbbing Gristle and the likes.
