    Power through the first couple of minutes Where there’s that terrible small screen that people do for some reason and then she expands the screen and is actually knowledgeable and it’s quality video, but boy that first section I only made it through that cause I got a phone call while I was watching it

    • @OlivesVintageMarket
      @OlivesVintageMarket  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lol, yeah I didn’t know what to do. I was just recording myself on my phone. When you transfer it from that it stays small. I didn’t know you had to turn the phone sideways. That is so funny though. Maybe one day I will look at them and update them.

    This info DOES help, huge! Watching you and your content serves us well, because somehow, these deets enter the subconscious, and helps later on when needed. When I’ve gotten out to do foot work: antique/thrift shops, lately, I been able to recognize a few aspects (on pieces). Nice to feel armed , just more ready to wheel and deal when opportunity presents!

    18:50 wow I would never expect this to be glass, rather than stone?? It would be amazing to differentiate between any real stone pieces (quartz/agate etc) from man made glass. Hopefully you can do a segment on that topic one day soon! And I just learned some type of paste can be made to look like faceted stones, as well…

    Very informative. Thank you so much. I have a piece of jewelry made of pot metal, I guess. Probably not valuable, but I love it. I bought it at a garage sale. Sadly it did break, and I'm trying to figure where and how to get it repaired. Anyway, I found your channel very interesting & appreciate the information.

    • @OlivesVintageMarket
      @OlivesVintageMarket  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah that is tough. Pot metal is very hard to repair because no matter what it leaves a large seam and then you have basically fabricate and hand mold the piece back. Is it worth that to you? If so there are people who do it. I actually do it, but it is a complicated process. Pot metal is just so 'tender' for lack of a better word. I talk about restoring pieces in a few of my newer videos. you can kinda see how it is done, although I have not shown one that I soldered back, but I did do a bird from pot metal that had to be restored quite a bit and I showed that process. Let me know if I can help in anyway. Maybe even email me some pictures and I can see if it is repairable. I like to help and if it is not too damaged I could do it for a video.

    Great work!! Nice video. You’ve studied so hard and learned so much! Thanks for sharing it with us.
    Question… how do you get your pieces so clean? They looked awesome.
    A few years ago, before I knew anything at all about jewelry, I made the mistake of scrubbing some of my grandmothers pins with soap and water to clean them up and some of the gems started to fall out!
    I know not to do that now, and I’ve learned some things about how to clean pieces, (use toothpick because it’s less likely to scratch etc.) but what can we use as a cleaning agent, especially when there’s layers and many crevices in a piece that needs cleaned?
    Thank you!!
    God bless all you do.

      Thank you so much! I am so thankful for your comments. I use baby toothbrushes, non ammonia glass cleaner and a tips along with other things. I actually have a video on how to clean costume jewelry and restoring it on my channel. I am out with my daughter now or I would go into more detail, but if you look at the videos on my channel it’s has them on there. I learned the hard way some years back as well, 😩, oh the pieces I messed up! You can also email my a pic of your piece or pieces you are having trouble cleaning and I can try and help on the best way to make it work. Kaciepaige03@hotmail.com

    Hello. Do you know about Sheffield vintage costume jewelry? I have a turtle watch/brooch. It's gold and quite beautiful. It looks to be from the 1950's judging from the clasp. I inherited it from my glamorous grandmother. I'm very interested to know about Sheffield.

    What year is a script “Coro” and the copyright symbol?

    • @OlivesVintageMarket
      @OlivesVintageMarket  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Copyright did not come out until the 1955 so it is that or later. Also, there are a few different scripts. A thin one which was one of the first they had and then a few others. Let me know which one you are talking about.

      Ok, Ok, wait, lol, not a clipmate, but a cape pin!!!! SHUT UP!!! It never occurred to me, lol. I was doing a video over Trifari the other day and looked at that pin again was was so perplexed again by the point of it and still not having the clipmate wrote on there. So amazing!!! Thank you and duh!! Now that you said that its so clear! I really appreciate that!

      @@neoanderson726 right! But sweater clips are still different and this is no clip and maybe it doesn’t look very fancy but it really really is. I find it to be beautiful but so odd in construction, but when I read your comment on cape it hit me like a ton of bricks. Yes!! That’s it exactly!!! It’s so heavy and would weigh down a sweater or shawl and make it unwearable, but cape or shrug that’s the one!!! Thank you so much again

    Does Hattie Carnegie ever use just Carnegie as a Maker's Mark?

      @OlivesVintageMarket  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes their later pieces have been know to just have Carnegie on them but watch out because they fake them and will sometimes spell the name wrong.

    • @OlivesVintageMarket
      @OlivesVintageMarket  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well, I guess my southern accent just comes out in these videos, lol. There are actually two different pronunciations, but both have 'R' in them. I always thought it was 'Kaar-nuh-gee', but it can also correctly be pronounced 'Kaar-nay-gee'. I didn't find that out until my master courses in Industrial Revolution though. I am sure I still will rarely get it right. Even my husband teases me about the way I say 'Right', lol.
