I love how the Bruce Wayne voice broke through instead of the batman voice when he got stabbed. It was a really great way of showing that there still is a person underneath the cape and cowl.
+The Samurai Cop Same here. There are only two scenes in the trilogy when he spoke in his Bruce Wayne voice as Batman, first time with Rachel in the batcave. I think sensitive moments are when he talks in his real voice. I think it would've been nice if he spoke in his Bruce voice at the end of TDK with Two-Face.
+Random Person Then why would Bruce still be using the Batman voice when he was calling Alfred for help after being severely injured by fire and the fear toxin in Batman Begins you dumb fuck
@@RunningBlade2184 because he was able to talk in that voice. When he got stabbed here anyone's voice would break out of there batman voice think before YOU speak dumbass
Here's something I noticed in all 3 Dark Knight movies. Batman is fighting one villain almost the whole movie. Then when Batman defeats him towards the end, another one comes around immediately after that. BB: Fighting Scarecrow, then Ra's al Ghul TDK: Fighting Joker, then Two-Face TDKR: Fighting Bane, then Talia al Ghul.
Also in all three movies a random henchmen turns out to be a villain The mentor turns out to be the real Rah al Ghul One of the clown turns out to be Joker One of the terrorist turns out to be Bane
Actually he planned his death with Gordon by providing him with the car and telling him to go to Wayne Tower to destroy the rail line. And then he left him to die on the train thus making it a premidated plan to kill Ra's al Ghul. So still murder. There was also no reason for him to board the train other than to make sure Ra's was on it and that he could not stop the train. So he literally boarded the train to make sure it would crash and kill him.
But Gordon also didn't know who Ras Al Ghul was or even the name 'League of Shadows" although he saw that Miranda (Talia) was working against him and Batman the whole time while she was dying in the truck.
I'm so glad Batman sat there so quietly with a knife in his ribs long enough for Talia to so graciously finish her lengthy monologue exposition for the sake of the audience.
I will give you that such a hypothetical is possible, but if Batman were truly thinking ahead, he probably wouldn't have been penetrated by the woman he was penetrating in the first place. And any plan that requires you to sit and listen to a person talk while that person is stabbing you in the ribs is an empirically bad idea, no matter the ends.
Vir Animus while I see and respect your point, think about the fact that he was caught by surprise when she stabbed him (thinking he could trust her, a fatal mistake) and then pushed through the pain knowing he had to stall her. I will agree though that it was not part of his plan to get stabbed. Think about how shocked he was, because he still had no idea who had the detonator and no idea that she was Ra's daughter, he had total trust in her

Bane didn't fight prisoners to protect a vulnerable woman and little girl he fought THE PRISON for ten years. For ten years this one man was the wall between a jail full of the worst inmates in the world and two young women. Good God that man is made of badass and moral integrity. Even if he is a villain, he is a hero
Talia: "My father ex-communicated Bane from the League of Shadows. His only crime.....was that he loved me." Such a wonderful job by Cotillard. A memorable speech.
Even though I kinda knew she was going to be Talia, I still love this scene when she shows her true colors. People have complained that it was too much too late, but I disagree. After she reveals herself, the flashbacks of her climbing out, her father rescuing Bane and recruiting him, training him and Talia, etc.... That explains it all. And when you look back on her character before she reveals herself, she says things like "restoring balance to the world" or "do what is necessary". That's something that her father would say. If you look at it from that perspective in my opinion, it all falls into place.
The reveal also makes you want to rewatch and see things from a different perspective. You notice little things like how she was the one who sold out the special forces and Gordon etc.
This scene was such an unexpected turn around! And I love it so much, just look at the softness in Bane's eyes as he looks at her; this scene really humanizes him after all his hard core mercilessness.
Daniel Williamson You both are lucky to have been caught by the surprise. Paparazzi photos from the set a year before the release confirmed peoples' theories that Marion was playing a big role and not some lowly Wayne Enterprises head.
"No please!!!" the way Bale delivered those line through voice and his eyes sent a shiver down my spine. One, it was him being vulnerable, in his Batman persona, which is supposed to be one of fear. Two, you see how much his legacy, parents, and Gotham, mean to him.
Nobody is going to talk about how perfect Bale's acting is here?? Half of his face is covered but you can almost feel how shocked and in pain he is from the unexpected stab. His eyes (like Tom Hardy) convey his emotion. Such a brilliant actor
The plates do, but if you can hit him between the plates there's not protection there. In TDK Lucius mentions that his new suit lets him be faster and more agile, but separation of the plates leaves him more vulnerable to gun fire and knives.

I think the true ending for Bane, was that tear drop & the revelation of his story, the look in the eyes of Bane during his last moments gives out so much emotion, that's props to Tom Hardy.
It only goes to show no matter how much of a mad man we may think bane is, When he begins to cry it shows he's just as human as any of us. Nolan did a very good job showing that.
"You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain" Bane could've died a hero protecting Talia, but instead he lived on and eventually became the Villain.
@Jake R The quote is supposed to be for *some* people, individuals if you will. For example, a person who was once a really good and moral person, later in his life becomes quite the opposite for certain reasons. It is not supposed to be applied to every single good person in the world, only to those who were once good, and are now bad. I thought that was obvious maybe not.
Sometimes i feel this film doesn't get enough credit for being a phenomenal ending too a phenomenal trilogy with outstanding performances from all of the cast marion colltard is beautiful and badass in this scene.
Man. This was so sad. Bane protecting the little girl from the other inmates. He was good at the beginning. Not just a monster. If he had died there in the pit. He would had died a hero. "Either you die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain". Harvey Dent said that. That line is for Bane. Thank you Nolan.
Lol Bruce wanted armour to turn his head at the cost of a knife being able to penetrate him. And he was able to turn his head to see Talia stabbing him.
Bro, she avenges her father, she knew where she was hitting with this knife, the most brutal turn of the knife was at 3:30-3:34 there she almost got this knife. But I repeat, she did it for her father!
I still remember the midnight screening for this and how the entire theater gasped when Talia revealed her true self and stabbed him. It was such a perfectly guarded secret until the end, because Bane kept the spotlight on himself through much of the film and it only seemed like he was keeping her as a hostage for leverage against Bruce. While Heath Ledger's legacy as the Joker cast a huge shadow over this movie when it came out, I think it still aged well over the years. It was incredibly relevant at its release due to the fallout from the '08 crash and the Occupy Wall Street movement that was still going on (Nolan declined to include actual street protests to avoid trivializing them).
"You See Its The Slow Knife.. The Knife That Takes Its Time.. The Knife That Waits Years Without Forgetting, Then Slips Quietly Inbetween The Bones.. That's The Knife That Cuts Deepest.."
"The betrayal you can see is trivial. What is truly frightening and much more lethal is the betrayal that you don't see" 0:19 Batman's face says it all
It's amazing how Bruce Wayne, her father's first disciple cremated the temple, wiped out his world order, and his daughter Talia in the end. It is very epic, the disciple throwing his master´s whole house down, and his offspring.
How incredible that the core of this film turns out to be not the flashy expensive gadgets or suits or the developed Gotham city, but the emotions formed in this unprofessionally put together hole in the ground in the Middle East, with everyone wearing rags, cut off from the world, acting out the little that they know.
I think Marion did a pretty nice job on this scene being a crazy bitch. I just don't get why she did that epic terrible acting at her death. And I get even less how Nolan just let that pass.
One thing that you very rarely ever saw in Batman movies except maybe the animated series is him displaying pure emotion, here in this scene after Miranda stabs him and reveals herself to be Ra's Al Ghul's daughter, for those few minutes you can hear him speak as Bruce Wayne with his voice slowly starting to almost break down to the point of tear but he's still in full costume while she explains her actions. It's a very powerful moment which i'm very surprised doesn't come up much in conversation and it really speaks at the versality that Christian Bale brought to both personas in his performance. Bane may have broke Batman's body which in the long run will eventually heal itself but Talia broke Bruce Wayne's heart which is something that may or not fully recover.
After hearing the story from Talia, I almost felt sorry for Bane since I saw tears running down his face. And even I almost felt for the concept of Bane being the son of Ra's al Ghul until Miranda Tate revealed herself to be Talia.
i know there were rumors of marion being talia before the film came out but when i watched it at the cinema i never thought miranda would truly be a villain or talia until this scene it did shock me it is a surprise in the film because a lot of us thought that bane was the child who escaped and he had a protector it was a good twist in the film to find out talia was the child and heir and bane was her protector and lover this is a powerful trilogy of films

The dark knight
I think the true ending for Bane, was that tear drop & the revelation of his story, the look in the eyes of Bane during his last moments gives out so much emotion, that's props to Tom Hardy.
It only goes to show no matter how much of a mad man we may think bane is, When he begins to cry it shows he's just as human as any of us. Nolan did a very good job showing that.
Guess who's back TH-cam people. . .
Mr Wayne...
Let’s not stand here on ceremony...mr. Wayne
Yeet
Pls give me some money
Mr Wayne
you are weak go do some push up
"You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain"
Bane could've died a hero protecting Talia, but instead he lived on and eventually became the Villain.
underrated comment
@Jake R The quote is supposed to be for *some* people, individuals if you will. For example, a person who was once a really good and moral person, later in his life becomes quite the opposite for certain reasons.
It is not supposed to be applied to every single good person in the world, only to those who were once good, and are now bad. I thought that was obvious maybe not.
@@paladinheadquarters7776 yeah but the quote subject is "you" So yeah it applied to anyone
brilliant acting from Marion, Bale and Hardy in this scene! kudos to the 3 of them
Nolan did a great job making the villains likeable. I found myself rooting for Bane and Joker. Also shows how talented Hardy and Ledger are as well.
nobody's gonna talk about the only time batman ever begged anyone? For his people...
"Always mind your surroundings " - Ra's Al Ghul
Sometimes i feel this film doesn't get enough credit for being a phenomenal ending too a phenomenal trilogy with outstanding performances from all of the cast marion colltard is beautiful and badass in this scene.
Man. This was so sad. Bane protecting the little girl from the other inmates. He was good at the beginning. Not just a monster. If he had died there in the pit. He would had died a hero. "Either you die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain". Harvey Dent said that. That line is for Bane. Thank you Nolan.
Hans Zimmer’s music is recognizable anywhere. This soundtrack is truly a masterpiece
Did you watch Mr. Beast go to Antarctica?
"You never did learn to mind your surroundings."
Lol Bruce wanted armour to turn his head at the cost of a knife being able to penetrate him. And he was able to turn his head to see Talia stabbing him.
Ahahah 😂😂😂
i remember in the theater, right when bruce got stabbed, these two kids in front of me were like "OOOOOHHHH!!!!!!!!" :l
the way she moves the knife and pushes it deeper.. i can't watch those scenes without feeling the pain,,
Bro, she avenges her father, she knew where she was hitting with this knife, the most brutal turn of the knife was at 3:30-3:34 there she almost got this knife. But I repeat, she did it for her father!
This scene is amazing. Great actors/actresses. Great movie.
Marion is such an amazing actress
what a twist
I really didn't it see coming and I should had known from the start who she was.
0:05 Everyone in my cinema was like: "Wait what?"
I felt really sad when batman requests talia..he says 'Please.!!'
The way he said that..Literally tears rolled over my eyes..!!
This movie is on another level one of the best movies I've ever watched
True, sad that it feels like it never got it's proper respect, but that happens when you follow the dark knight, a movie that changed cinema
"Seperation of the plates will make you vulnerable to gunshots and knives"
-Lucius Fox in Dark Knight
That “good bye” just kills me.
so tragic
You gotta love the look on her face as she hits the button on the trigger; it's a pretty unique expression. I love this scene.
3:35 That's so rare and kind of beautiful to hear Batman go back to Bruce, and not even any version of Bruce but a vulnerable one
Just seeing Batman in pain is so sad. At the end he said "please" which is a heartbreaker!💔😭
'Innocent is a strong word to throw around gotham, Bruce' that line gets me every time. The delivery of that line turns me on for some reason. 2:42
I love the line to. The delivery is deliciously evil
it wasn't meant to be taken literally, remember bruce loved her, the fact that she betrayed him was the meaning to that statement
0:19 Flashback ... "Nomex survival suit ... This can stop a knife..." - Why have you betrayed me Lucius? XD
The batsuit in The Dark Knight is more susceptible to knives and gunfire.
kihihi
shadowshinobi06 makes sense - thanks ^^
Lucius: "Separation of the plates makes you more vulnerable to knives and gunfire."
- The Dark Knight (2008)
"I stabbed you first"
- Batman from college humor
"but he is BATMAN!" -college humor
"You See Its The Slow Knife.. The Knife That Takes Its Time.. The Knife That Waits Years Without Forgetting, Then Slips Quietly Inbetween The Bones.. That's The Knife That Cuts Deepest.."
And 10 years later they have a son...
nuh uh
if u realize, the cop(robin) takes up the role of Batman like in nightfall protocall
at the end of the movie
Considering Talia died in this movie, I don't think that happened
***** I know
Re-watch Batman Begins:
"I won't kill you, but I don't have to save you."
Still the same thing as murder. He left him to die when he knows there is no way for him to survive. That's called Murder
unpopular opinion: dark knight rises is nolan's best film
I think it's one of his better films. In my top 4
"The betrayal you can see is trivial. What is truly frightening and much more lethal is the betrayal that you don't see"
0:19 Batman's face says it all
I want to go back in time and watch this trilogy all over again
It's amazing how Bruce Wayne, her father's first disciple cremated the temple, wiped out his world order, and his daughter Talia in the end.
It is very epic, the disciple throwing his master´s whole house down, and his offspring.
How incredible that the core of this film turns out to be not the flashy expensive gadgets or suits or the developed Gotham city, but the emotions formed in this unprofessionally put together hole in the ground in the Middle East, with everyone wearing rags, cut off from the world, acting out the little that they know.
I really like Marion's work in this scene, it's moving yet quietly chilling at the same time
And all I can say is god damn, did this scene cement my crush on Bane!
haha joker is better than bane tho
In your opinion, which I respect. The Joker was excellent but I still prefer Bane.
***** fair enough you from UK or something?
No, I'm from upstate New York. I wish I was though, I'd love to visit there someday. Why do you ask?
***** How dare u
I think Marion did a pretty nice job on this scene being a crazy bitch. I just don't get why she did that epic terrible acting at her death. And I get even less how Nolan just let that pass.
You shouldn't let her poor performance in that death scene ruin her entire performance overall in this movie.
I always blame Nolan for that scene. He could've picked the other take out of hundreds he did. Yet, he chose this one.
There's a theory here that Thalia fakes her death
@@ttanza4004 definitely shes a oscar winning underrated actress.
They just cut off the best line, “perhaps your knife was too slow”
"That was a cruel ploy! Sign me up for another!"
She has beautiful voice....
This scene isn't the same after watching the College Humor parody version of this scene.
Chris Koppa her last words were "Spit in my mouth!"
When the mission is at hand. Nothing is off limits.
Oh, I agree. Nothing was off limits. It was like an all you can fuck buffet.
the best line is just a few seconds after this scene, when at the surprised face of her batman answers:
"maybe it was too slow" just hilarious
Excellent scene and good acting. This movie was awesome!
It really seals in the flavor
I can't take this scene serious after watching the batman has a dirty mind parody 😂
Talia : Stabs batman
Lucius fox: "This sucker will stop a knife"
batman : "Lucius, you bastard"
@TheTacos!RETURN 6616 Hell yeahh u r right.. lol
His new suit made him more susceptible to knives and gunfire. But it does fine against cats though.
The fact that they knew to make the villains empathic is just a sign that Christopher Nolan is the greatest director of Our Generation
I remember seeing this in imax and throughout the whole scene all I could stare at was that mole...
The Saddest part about this whole trilogy that still makes me mad and upset. Is how Batman took the blame for somebody elses bullshit. Like that is beyond sad and fucked up. You gotta have some major ass courage to do that in the real world.
Didn't Lucius Fox say the bat suit is knife-proof?
Lobak Loon Before he updated the suit in "The Dark Knight". Allowing Batman some agility makes everything else vulnerable.
In The Dark Knight Lucious literally says his new suit makes him more vulnerable to knives.
I also love how Marion Cotillard inspires me to visit France.
Reminds me of my dreams, papa never believed in me.
Reminds me of how my papa never accepted my brother Kurt Leighton but a monster like a rat, tested taken as basis.
Nice words, papa.
Always keeping those words inside my mind. Excited too this summer for my graduation.
You see, it's the slow knife... the knife that takes its time, the knife that waits years without forgetting, then slips quietly between the bones... that's the knife that cuts deepest.
Marion was hot in Dark Knight Rises.
I agree
