    Flaws and all... this is the most emotional Batman film to me. Many things come to mind as I re-watch it, but the big stand out is how his purpose behind becoming Batman in the first place is finally fulfilled. He wanted to inspire good in the people of a corrupt city, has his doubts about it in The Dark Knight... and finally leads its people to stand up for themselves (spearheaded by the unlikely trio of the police commissioner, a scientist and a professional thief!).
    Again, I have my reservations about the Nolan films... but when they work they do so big time.

    Anyone else ever recognized the parallels between Thalia's and Ra's' death scenes in the Nolan trilogy? It's like, he is crushing with the train, and she is crushing with the truck. If you compare both scenes, the setup and the camera angles are almost identical, only mirrored. Even the music queue is exactly the same. I outright LOVE this little detail, it is so amazing.

      There's sadly a major difference. Ra's Al-Ghul died knowing he had failed; Talia died thinking she had won. Kinda soured the ending for me, as Talia was the least likeable villain of the whole trilogy - arrogant, underhanded, motivated not by misguided zealeotry or utter insanity but by a daddy-complex. She at least deserved to suffer the humiliation of failure in her final moments.

    • @michaelotis223
      @michaelotis223 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Harry Whitehead I think it goes beyond a daddy complex... Talia and Bane were pretty much born in that pit, all they've known are suffering and pain with hope taunting them from above. They wanted Gotham to feel the despair they felt. Like Dent, they blame the world around them for their own misery and take it out on others. This is the difference between Batman and his rogues - he chose to fix the shit cards life had dealt him while his enemies for the most part refuse to learn from their falling and take it out on the rest of humanity

      The Punisher That depends. What makes Batman is not really his physical fighting abilities, it's his detective abilities and more often than not his conflict with his own darker desires. This version of Batman looks more like his classic outfit and fights a lot like the Arkham games, but I'm honestly not convinced that's all it takes for him to be a great Batman.
      There is a reason the Joker is Batman's foil. This Batman has lost a little bit of what separates the two of them with his blasé attitude towards killing.
      Don't give me wrong, I'm not saying he isn't doing a great job. But, the only thing he really has going for him so far is the fact that he can fight.

    I personally enjoy the Nolan movies for what they were, a full story arc bringing Batman into the modern world without camp or any of the bullshit that killed the franchise years ago. Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale created a Batman that was "plausible" with today's technology (Nomex body armor, etc etc) And while the fighting choreography wasn't completely mind-blowing (at least not from what we expect of a crime fighter trained in multiple martial arts) it served the purpose of these movies. (a stage combat teacher I study with choreographed a much better fight btw two of his students playing Bane and Batman...wish I had it on video)
    With all that said, I am really looking forward to seeing what Zach Snyder comes up with for Batman vs Superman Dawn of Justice and all subsequent Batman movies. Hopefully they'll find a way to combine the naturalism of Nolan's movies with a more comic book sensibility.

    Impressive chase scene. Far above anything Marvel does... except for Captain America and Bryan Singer.

    2:49-3:10 the best part of the chase. Pretty intense.

    0:53 That look when you just willfully condemned a bus full of children to die…That dude and all of the officers on that bridge are not only scarred mentally for life, but as soon as Gotham opens back up, they’ll forever be known as those guys…

    Batman was absolutely done with the League of Shadows by this point… and went on a Rambo 2-helicopter like assault.
