Tim Renwick's tapping part on Pulse, Another Brick in The Wall, and the whole solo he does is up their with one of the greatest live solos ever!!!!
Those Paoletti guitars are stunning instruments.
Love Dave so much. Have seen him over 25 times with Roger over the years and he's like a fine wine.
Another superb feature. Thanks for showing us behind the curtain. Big respect to Dave!
Our pleasure!
I saw him in Austin with Roger Waters, what a brilliant, brilliant guitarist, on every level⚡️❤️⚡️
Waters has been propped up by some fine guitarists over the decades, Gilmour, Beck, Clapton, Snowy White, the underrated Doyle Bramhall and now Dave joins that illustrious list.
Yeah the guy has probably had the best lineage of guitarists in his albums out of anyone ever. I think, for as perfectionist & prickly as everyone knows Waters can be, the prospect of playing with one of rocks finest songwriters is just impossible to say no to.
I also got goosebumps after Jonathan talked about Dave's playing style, because I know exactly what he's talking about. The first time I ever heard Dave Kilminster play the Have a Cigar solo back in 2005 (I think), I thought..."This guy is amazing!!"
❤️
Dave is just so humble. I remember seeing him in the ‘06 tour and thought “Wow Roger really got a great guitarist”! So glad he’s still with him. And even his own albums are fantastic!
Looking forward to the new one.

Dude mad respect for this interview..grace from both sides as Dave is hung over as they come..😖🤢🤮🎶🎸❤️🤘way to push through man..the honesty and humble nature is impressive.
I agree 100%, good call.
Dave is one of the grestest guitarist with the BEST TONE i ve ever heard.!!!! Saw him with Steven Wilson and it was awesome.
I did a tour with Dave, I was blown away to carry his amps into the venue. He totally shit out on a jam at the Robin, legend! Love you Dave from Caerphilly xxxxx
That interviewer is superb at his job, intelligent discussion and very respectful in listening to the full answer. Respect. As for Floyd, awesome.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching and the kind words.
Met Dave in India after he played with Steven Wilson. Amazing sweet guy, so easy to talk to. His and Guithrie Govan’s guitar techniques magazine lessons were gold!
This was great! Thank you!
Great great interview❤ I love Daves humble approach to everything
This is great. Thanks
Glad you liked it!
Love Brunetti ´s amps so much!! I play one since 15 years et they still great! Dave is such a great man an a great performer!!
🙏
Eric Roche, now there’s a legend. I hear his influence in a lot of young British acoustic players. I recently heard Mike Dawes do a version EVH’s Jump and I couldn’t resist commenting that it had all the hallmarks of Eric Roche. Mike got back to me instantly saying that Eric was a massive influence, sighting Eric’s Acoustic Guitar Bible book as being a huge factor in his development.
I used to get Guitar Techniques every month, especially for the Guthrie and Eric lessons and articles. I clearly remember Eric’s last article where he signed off with a short passage about not being back for next month’s edition as something had come up. I didn’t really know what he meant at the time but remember reading on Ceefax that he’d passed.
Were he still alive he’d be held in the same regard as Tommy Emmanuel with worldwide renown. I implore you all to go out and buy his acoustic book and his album ‘With These Hands’. Thankfully, I still have all my old GT magazines at my parents house and I still to this day learn from his stuff. He was a verifiable genius
Congratulations!!
One of my old teachers at the ACM back in 2002
Dave’s album ‘ …and the truth will set you free’ is a masterpiece. Met him a few times (including the time he came to a guitar festival that I staged in Northampton back in 2006, as his mates Guthrie and Phil Hilborne were amongst the performers - remember boozing with him and trying to get him to get up and play!) and he possesses a uniquely laconic conversational style. I think he’s one of the greatest guitarists in the world.
Dave is The Man.
I did see Dave on the Steven Wilson tour. Sounded awesome.
9:00 Tim Renwick, Pulse concert, Another brick in the wall.
Saw him play with Steven Wilson in 2016,was disappointed Guthrie Govan wasn’t there but not for long. Seen him with Roger twice and he’s an amazing guitarist
Search Dave Kilminster Rarities & listen to his solo on Dead & Gone from 1981 - sublime!
Excellent interview 👍👍👍
Thank you 😎👍
They way they traded keeping the interview on the rails was like a jam.
Ive been lucky to meet Dave a couple of times. Not that he'll remember of course 😂. First time was at the Bristol Bierkeller, Yngwie was playing there that night, and it wasn't long after DK had won the very first Guitarist Magazine's 'guitarist of the year' competition. That was a very brief meeting, not much more than just congratulating him on winning the competition, and a little natter about YJM. I think Guthrie won the second year. Then I got to meet DK again, a number of years later, at a small gig he was playing in South Wales with Qango, which also featured the late John Wetton, Carl Palmer and John Young. What a band, and what a gig that was. I got to meet all of the band that night, and DK was very approachable, personable, and generous with his time, just chatting about guitars, music in general and influences etc. He's a hell of a player, I absolutely loved it when he was part of John Wetton's live band, and the stuff he does with Steven Wilson. And he seems a genuinely nice guy too.
Roger is my illegitimate Musical Father. Dave Kilminster rocks the shit out of the Floyd's Stuff. I'm glad Dad chose him to perform with him.
Such a great interviewer. I know GG is a stellar player but I actually preferred the Stephen Wilson tour with DK in the band.
Thanks for the kind words. Glad you enjoyed
Absolutely stellar interview! Subscribed.
Awesome, thank you!
This current tour Roger is on is not to be missed. The show is masterfully paced and executed! A sombrely dark atmosphere is set during the first hour as Roger comes out and sulks and broods about his father's death...gripping stuff indeed! There is a 15 minute intermission, then the second set completely changes the mood of the show as Roger comes out and proceeds to tell knee slappingly hilarious holocaust jokes for the next hour ("how many lampshades does it take to screw in a lightbulb"...) The only thing missing is a soaring David Gilmour guitar solo, but other than that do yourselves a favour people and get your tickets now!
Dave is such a dude!
He really is 😎
Is it weird that this is the first time I’ve heard Dave’s Voice ?
About the differences between the two fuzzes (37:53): it’s the silicon transistors (in the red pedal being used) vs. the germanium ones in the blue one.
He's a great player - the custom guitars look great
Yeah man! When he took out the dark flower T? HOLY SHNIKES is that awesome!!
That was cool!....felt like I was there with you!....but you wouldn't talk to me...hahahaha!
Next time! 😂
John Norum, has a Strat type made of chestnut, also from Paoletti but it is quite unusual overall.
Gee good for you!..didn't know any Pink Floyd stuff and still got the gig!.I and a gizzilian other guitarists who know all of that music note for note.....
Jon and Nick hitting the Gi gym as much as the studio these days 💪
What are the odds that they each bought an Orange PPC412?
Super down to earth and great guitarist… Saw him with Watters and he was great…. Can’t figure out how he needs 22 frets for a Gilmour solo though.
You've either never played the solo in Money then, or at least not played it correctly. The highest parts need at least a 22nd fret to be played accurately. In fact Gilmour actually used his 24 fret Bill Lewis Guitar to record the 2nd part of the solo when the highest notes are hit.
What is the slide he uses?
This was kinda of a bit strange interview with the slights towards Gilmour.
So what is the brand name of these guitars...?
The brand name is Paoletti.
which Eric is Dave referring to? anyone know?
Eric Roche ... unique and special talent ...
@@calummcgregor3662 thankyou so much for your reply,. I remember about eric now but can't remember what happen to him.
Where is Snowy White?
Is Dave related to Lemmy?
No. They have different surnames. Similar, but different.
Is that Lemmy's brother?
Cosmo and Wanda
Analogue sounds better than digital….moves straight onto pedalboard full of digital effects 😂
It’s analogue dry through though 👍😂👍😂
The output of those digital pedals is still going into an analog preamp, assuming they are running in the front, and their output settings might be used to push said analog preamp in some patches. If those digital pedals are in the loop, then your criticism has even less merit. Even if you were completely right and Dave is misguided, he has afforded the expense and is making art in a way that makes him happy; I wish you the same.
Steady on mate, I just find it interesting that lots of players say they only use analogue equipment as it sounds the best etc but then run it through what are basically computers to get reverb or delay tremolo whatever, that can be achieved using analogue gear. Let’s be realistic the final sound whatever way you look at it will always be heard digitally.
Didnt know Roger😂
smoke a joint dave youll feel better what people see in alcohol i never saw it weed no hangover feel great create etc etc
Never heard of Pink Floyd???? Definitely paid to say that.
How much do these guys get paid being the sidemen???
Kilminster is stil a 16year old greasy kid
But he can sure play geetar !
Brizzle 4ever!
Man oh man. Almost unwatchable with that camera person. Sorry, I expected more from this channel
Hahaha. How can you be in the music business and not know who Roger Waters is. Not like he was too young. Hahaha.
Its not that wierd? He said he never listened to Pink floyd growing up. Only people who actually follow Pink floyd know who Roger Waters is lol
For the simple reason that the music business is not a monolith. You can be in totally different sub-genres and have no idea what's happening in another.
Obviously a great musician, but his ignorance is breath taking.
Lemmys son
I was actually thinking that he looks a bit like he could be, but...Dave Kilminster, Lemmy Kilmister: different surnames, not related, despite an either intentionally fake or idiotic article that's circulating the interwebs claiming Dave is Lemmy's son. Lemmy's two sons are named Paul & Sean.
Poor Dave. 17years with Roger Waters ? It's hardly any wonder he has bags under his eyes. Love Dave's work... especially with John Wetton RIP.
Stands to reason why Roger Waters hired a guitar player that didn't know who Pink Floyd was, wasn't sure who David Gilmour was or how he played. Pretty embarrassing really.
Why does that even matter lol? He doesn't need to know the entire history of pink floyd and David gilmour.... What matters is how well he plays the guitar, and he absolutely kills every solo👌🏼
He might have gotten the job for handling the f up in a good way, it's not easy to keep going if you make mistakes while Waters is standing right next to you!
How can this man work in the music industry (more importantly the Rock industry) and never heard of Roger Waters or barely heard of Pink Floyd.. Absolutely ludicrous, is he still drunk?
