    Dave: "I'm a little nervous tonight actually now"
    Dan: "Why:
    Dave: "Well you're in audience for a start "
    Dan: "For crying out loud!"
    That tickled me. Massive respect to two guys who work at their craft to such a high level, yet wear it lightly and are so generous with it.

    • @alessandrodecarli2462
      @alessandrodecarli2462 ปีที่แล้ว

      In this case, I personally think that we’re talking about mutual respect, not “niceties”! They don’t need to being “nice” to each other, the two knows exactly who they are! 😂
      I totally agreed with you, @spharr…

    My introduction to Dave was in a Guitarist Magazine article from 1998 top 10 80s Shredders and have been following him ever since, still have the copy of the mag. Love Dave K

    A decade ago I kinda resented him playing the guitar parts. Over time, I've learned to really appreciate the great job Mr Kilminster has done filling those massive shoes, while elevating to bring his own taste and class to the parts and solos. Now I'm grateful, as a PF fan.

    I've seen Dave with Waters on the Wall tour in 2012 and this latest tour last year, and Dave has nothing to worry about! The man can play and inject plenty of soul and feel into those classic songs

  • @Russell_Optics
    @Russell_Optics ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Very cool interview. He seems very grounded and down to earth about the attitude required to play such a huge gig. I'm sure the intimidation of playing in front of 50,000 people as well as cameras and everything else going on would be enormous. I loved his outlook and honesty.

  • @evanmiller2579
    @evanmiller2579 ปีที่แล้ว +17

    He seems like a really nice man. This was so fun to watch. The tones were pretty epic and those tele/strats he has sound and look amazing. Dan, how awesome for you to have this connection and help put together something that is so integral to this tour. Well done. Have a great weekend guys.

    I went to see him play with Roger Waters last year, and his sound was truly superb! I was sitting there thinking about how they managed to get such a perfect sound out of the speakers and sounding so excellent in that arena. It was clear and loud!
    Absolutely awesome show!

    Inspiring, two people with the deepest commitment to their craft. Favorite quote: "I looked down and my guitar was covered in blood, I was trying to feel something." Thanks Dan....may your day be filled with feeling. ❤

    My fav pedal ever made, Hermida Zen Drive. That's a handsome looking board chaps. Mr Kilminster is going to be thrilled. Thanks for sharing. I have a Paoletti, it's made from wine casks, beautiful Guitar and it's a rare lefty. An anniversary present from my wife.

  • @alessandrodecarli2462

    Really beautiful video! Being a Gilmour’s fan, I’ve never thought someone else like Kilminster could ever take his place. And I know it sounds weird but…after seeing Waters live in Rome and take a look to his work during this years, I got to say that Kilminster fits very well David’s habits, trying to being respectful with the originals but even carrying something personal every time. And, being also proudly Italian, knows that he’s playing Brunetti and Paoletti it likes me very much. Last (but not least), Kilminster’s way to approach to the music is the same approach of mine and I had the same experience, in my simple guitarist’s life: I still play by ear and reading a single note it tooks me 39 seconds each note!😂 I really love his way to “live” the music he plays, even if it’s not his usual background. Hats off to him and (of course) Dan’s work, still perfect and focused! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

    • @seansigwalt

      me too believe he's the perfect match, his bendings and timings are closer to David Gilmour than any other cover band's guitarists

      I’m so with you on that. One of my fovouritist solos of all time, and the delay effect on it is just the best. Sounded absolutely killer here

    I'm Italian and i saw Dave in the Brunetti stand years ago in Bologna when he was about to start the first Waters tour.I didn't know him but i realized immediatly he was a genius, i remeber , after talkin to this lovely man who were answering some question of a dude who didn't know anything about him, asking to Marco Brunetti "Who's he?" , he told me about Waters and the tour with a light in his eye ..and i started shaking

    I have seen Dave K. 3 times now with Roger Waters. THe Wall, Us And Them and Not a DRILL. His playing and tone has always been incredible. Dan's rig building makes it sound so much like the original but different. In a good way. His guitar just cuts though everything much like Gilmour's. I hope to catch Dave K playing on his own or with other artists some day.

  • @roberts6053
    @roberts6053 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I first saw Kilminster at Hammersmith with Steven Wilson and he became my favourite guitarist at that moment. Still is. Head back. Lives and breathes the era I come from and there is no one else that can come close to that.

    Dave's comment at 18:35 about playing clean to be heard is absolutely true! We all love cranking up the gain in the bedroom, but as soon as you reach gig volumes, that glorious sound just gets swallowed up in the mix.

    • @gdawgs101
      @gdawgs101 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm pretty sure Dave is done touring unfortunately
      Edit: whoops, I realized you probably meant the other Dave, not Gilmour.

    • @robindwatson
      @robindwatson ปีที่แล้ว

      @@gdawgs101 Yep, meant to say Dave K but Dave G would be great too! I saw two shows in 2018 when Roger came to New Zealand for the Us + Them tour. I was blown away by Dave K's playing and how authentic it is to the original. He's able to replicate not only the parts that are in-tune/in-time, but also the parts that aren't! Sometimes the latter are just as important.

    Absolutely nothing against Dave Kilminster. I am sure this is a great gig and and he is a stellar player. nothing but absolute respect to people who make their living designing, manufacturing, selling, setting up and playing music and gear. Personally, I could never enjoy seeing a band playing Pink Floyd songs without David Gilmour’s vocals and playing and Rick Wright’s (RIP) and Nick Mason’s playing. To all those who can, enjoy! All four band members were irreplaceable, but at a minimum David Gilmour’s participation is a must for me.

    Hey, I know it's an easy mistake to make but it looks like he's actually using a Dunlop Band of Gypsys Mini Fuzz Face FFM6. The white knobs are the giveaway. The FFM2 has black knobs. Not germanium as far as I'm aware or even really a Fuzz Face circuit. Roger Mayer put an octavia circuit without the octave in a Fuzz Face enclosure with white knobs which is what Hendrix used during the BOG Fillmore East performances and that's what Dunlop used as the template for the fuzz on his board.
