This guy doesn’t know how to use a buffer

Thanks for watching James. I never claimed to know how to use one. They sent it for me to try and I did not have a teacher.

I never thought watching another guy wax off would be so therapeutic!

Ha! Glad you got some therapy from me waxing off my rental car. It was the nicest (and funnest) rental vehicle I ever got. Thanks for watching!

You get what you pay for.
About all it is good for is taking the effort out of putting a coat of polish over your car. It is not going to do too flash a job of removing minor imperfections, scratches, paint swirls etc.
The electric motor in it is too small and doesn't have anywhere near the grunt to perform like a 110/220/240volt buffer / polisher. This buffer/polisher is powered by a 12 volt 2 amp hour battery... each battery is good for about 10 mins on maximum revs.... but the effective use from each battery is about 3 minutes before it begins to lose power and rapidly slow down.
How I used it..... A 2014 Mitsibushi Triton GL Ute. This vehicle had been parked up out in the weather for the previous 4 years.
    a) I washed it using Fairy brand dishwashing detergent and a sponge.
    b) I washed the ute a second time using Fairy brand dishwashing detergent and one of those 'artificial clay bar sponges'
    c) I dried off the car using a Chamois.
    d) I gave it a wipe over with a large piece of microfibre cloth 15 inches x 15inches
    e) Put the large flat foam pad onto the polisher.
    f) Put a few dobs of polish over the bonnet (hood for you Americans) about the size of my thumbnail every 18 inches apart.
    g) Used speed setting 3 to spread out the polish over the panel.
    h) Turned the buffer up to 6 and went over the bonnet 3 times to make sure I used up the polish on the panel.
    j) Wiped the bonnet over with a clean piece of microfibre cloth to remove any excess polish residue... gave it a decent wipe over ( my buffer / polisher never came with the microfibre pads.... the seller removed them to sell off separately as pairs.. dodgy bugger)
    k) Attached the sheepskin pad, changed the battery and gave the panel a good buffing over.
I did the entire cab of this Triton ute like this. My neighbour and one of my tenants who have seen the state of this car over the last 4 years were surprised how good the paint came up after the first polish.
If you are a person only wanting to apply a coat of polish over your car to protect the paint a bit and take the elbow work out of it......this will do a reasonable enough job.
The motor is very under-powered..... it stalls if you put too much downward pressure on the pads.... and it doesn't like buffing on its side. The lower speed settings are just a waste of time.... I used setting 3 just to spread out the polish.... but it really needs to run at maximum revs to buff and polish...... it will still run for about 10 minutes off a fully charged battery..... but it loses a lot of power real quick.
If you are a car enthusiast or somebody wanting to 'correct' the paint and get a mirror finish.... then you are only wasting your money buying this gadget.

can the pads that come with the kit be re-used? throw them in the washer/dryer? thanks

Thanks for watching. I believe that they are washable, but not positive. It might say on the Amazon writeup or in the answered questions. I will try to find out.

Common Sense! Of course the pads can be washed out and reused. I would not ever bother putting them in the washing machine / dryer. Wash them out in the sink and hang them up somewhere.

Thanks for watching Exon. I believe that they are 6". My Amazon link is in the description which would show the details.

Why do these companies send a waxing product to people who has no fucking clue about how to wax a car.

    • @themostlymikeshow

Probably the same reason why they let jackwads say mean things. 🤷 I never claimed to know what I was doing in the video, but that still doesn't constitute being a dick.

just love all these videos, but why cant you use a car that the paint actually needs polishing , like a dull faded red car, not one that looks like its just come from a showroom, that would be better to watch

Thanks for watching and the suggestion. As many pointed out in the comments, I don't know anything about how these polishers work or how to use them properly. This one was offered to me for free in exchange for making the video. That Challenger was a rental car, believe it or not...not something that I paid a lot of money to get or requested. I was shocked that this rental car place only had Challengers and Chargers. If I needed a four-door I could have went with a Charger.
Although it's not much of an excuse, I thought that that red color of the Challenger looked so incredible on camera that I just had to use that car. I wasn't really demonstrating technique or skills as much as its ability to apply wax and how long the battery lasts.

I see you had to take advantage of having the car to make a video! And where did all the junk . . . ahem . . . treasures go in the garage in order to fit the car in?

The umm... Treasures are in the research and development center! 😁

Don't buy it. It's a waste of time and money. I had it and got rid of it.
