    I got super lucky around 6 months ago, Lowe’s had the DeWalt polisher for $82 clearance sitting on the shelf and I had to buy it. Not sure why I am watching this video, but I guess I’m addicted to Josh’s content. Appreciate how honest you are

    The Rupes also slows down quite a lot actually. (I don't understand why they lied about it) I'm surprised you didn't notice it. This is true for EVERY battery powered machine currently.

    Can also confirm the Nanoskin Black Speed 5" Backing Plate for 15mm & 21mm Long-Throw Random Orbital Polisher for Replacement - Flexible Urethane, Heat Management, Premium Hook & Loop - Extends Machine & Buffing Pad Life works on the unit, you will have to finish setting it in place with the screw and it'll pull it all the way in, and it fits and works amazing!

    Purchased one from Vivor for $112.00, quick free shipping too. Pretty smooth and lite compared to my old work horse Flex xc3401vrg.
    I used the new Vivor BA7162 to do a light buff for a decon prep to apply new ceramic coating.
    Observed Pros: weight, decent vibration control, average battery run time, good ergonomics, nice tactile feel for switches and dials, variable trigger speed.
    Cons: Battery recharge time could be better, my averager run time was 25 mins., recharge average 35+/-mins.
    ☆ "Irritating One" - Rubber protection skirt between drive head and backing plate can rub throwing tiny rubber balls everywhere. Relative easy fix. Remove backing plate, (a bit difficult because there isn’t a geardrive lock button) repsition rubber skirt to properly fit into keyway and retention groove. If clearance is still incorrect, put an appropriately sized fiber spacer washer between spindle plate and backing plate or simply remove skirt and trim for proper clearance.
    Thank about it before purchase... $111.99 doul action polisher made in China, minor mods and adjustment will be needed.

      I just picked one up and mine is making a weird sound when starting/stopping. But because I've never used any polisher before, I'm unsure if it's normal. Outside of the normal whining should of the motor, does yours make like a rolling marble sound when it's 1st starting or just before it stops? Another way to describe the sound is like marbles rolling down a washboard. It's only for a split second as it starts up or stops.

    • @michaelb.5492
      @michaelb.5492 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @crabjoe Yes, the metallic sound is pretty much normal for this caliber of DAP. What you're hearing on start & stop is a bit too much backlash between the gearset & counterweight. Removing the backing plate, etc. & replacing the crap grease installed on assembly with good quality Ĺithium, or equivalent water resistant grease may help. Haven’t repacked mine yet, so I'm not sure what well find.
      Keep your pads flat, and enjoy the shine...

    • @michaelb.5492
      @michaelb.5492 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm following up on metallic sound... Well, I took the head off & discovered pretty much what I suspected. Vick's petroleum jelly lubricant & not much either. The pinon gear was dry, & all grease had slung to the grease chanber sides. I removed what little lube there was & repacked with Lithium, water-resistant grease. A perceptible vibration improvement, sound frequency improved as well. Now, when you get on or off the gas, it sounds like greased marbles in a can.
      If you feel the need to inspect & replace the grease, just remove the 2 big plastic screws. Push the gear head hand grip & cover off. Remove the 4 black screws & seperate geare chamber from drive body by carefully wiggling it a bet. If tight or stuck look for small pry points on each corner; repack grease, enjoy new toy.
